Playoffs clinched. Horvath doesn't tie or break Milt's record. Good night overall.

Zach had played well this season when coming back froM injury (at least for a half). Dru looks great off the bench. The solution is easy. Zach starts, plays the first half, gets hurt. Dru comes on in

Collaros has been streaky too, the bulk of the teams problems are systemic, but we're terrible at recognizing when a qb just doesn't have it going this season and yanking them.

I believe MOS recognizes it but his loyalty impedes him from doing anything about it.

The solution is easy. Zach starts, plays the first half, gets hurt. Dru comes on in relief. Do that 3 times and bam! Grey cup won

So like the 2005 Elks who tandemed Ray and Maas.

Ya the 2QB thing worked for us in 2019... Finding a way to cycle through them similarly might be the way again.

We're in the playoffs thanks to Brown, Singer and half of the BC team that got the night off.

To play devil's advocate, we would already have been in if Brown could have won a single game as a starter earlier in the season

Tbh, If we didnt fix the ol and tc earlier, I think we would've just hurt brown. Now if we had made the multiple changes needed at OC, Wr, and OL and brown, then we for sure would've been in a much better position.

Zach couldn't hit the side of a barn last night. That "Zach" seems to always show up when the pressure is on to win - the guy who almost got Demski AND Singer killed with throws both of them shouldn't have tried to catch as Zach was hanging them both out to dry. He just was so off target. As a coach, when you see that drive after drive is being killed because your QB can't hit the target, he's got to come out. Cal Murphy always figured that out early and made the QB switch if the starter was sucking. O'Shea is just too darn stubborn. It's time for the O'Shea era in Winnipeg to be over. These guys have all gotten far too comfortable. And comfortable and football don't go together.

Ten straight years of making the playoffs is still a pretty impressive streak. Glad we got the win, and we get at least one more week of Bomber football.

possibly backing in the back door if SASK wins today...with consecutive worse seasons isn't really impressive to me...Heck it's 5 yrs running now with a poorer record...poorer place in standings, and earlier exit in playoffs...5 yrs!!. Thats not impressive either

Just watched the highlights. I don't understand how anyone can see the results as anything short of an indictment of Mike O'Shea. 3 minutes left in the third and up until that point Zach wasn't just off, he was absolutely horrid. The coaches didn't think to try anything to turn things around. Not "give Dru a couple series". Not "oh **** maybe we should have some Strev-ilke packages in for our MVP running QB". Not "perhaps a trick play?". Nothing.

Our coach was content to ride it out and lose in embarrassing fashion until he got saved by an injury.

ZC doesn't get pancaked and cranks his head off the turf...we aint wining that game I dont think...And it was a microcosm of our coaching for yrs...No ability or will/balls to make a move in game for underperforming...let alone a player upgrade in general for the same....unless it's an injury....isn't happening....that's horrendous coaching

And Brady, but you are 100% right.

The D only starting playing tough when the game was already well in hand.

The rampant celebrating of minor plays that don't score or even stop drives was awful as well. Half the vets played like James wilder JR. Run for 5 yards on 2nd and 9, get up flex and jaw while walking off the field.

This team is a mess top to bottom...ability is there in players...you can see it...but also no leadership in the coaching ranks...no accountability either...another odd thing was on offence...once Dru got in, the oline all of sudden kinda turned a switch, and the wr's had more pep in their step and seemed more dialed in and the effort seemed ratcheted up...Not saying that the guys have quit on ZC....But with Dru in seemed like they had a new life and had this "hey we can win this" attitude all of a sudden as opposed to just the lets get this over with...cash our cheque and thats about it

Sad part most here could see ZC had nothing and was struggling...Even boot likin Tait commented at halftime that a QB switch may be a thing to try, and yet our so-called great coach had no inkling whatsoever, and save for the injury...Would have likely just kept all is as is. Even the last 5 mins...BC wasnt coming back and to keep usIng BO...Demski..Singer and risk injury was just idiotic...Get MCI...Clercius...Asskicker some reps...but nope...Confirmation of idiot

He is so stubborn when it comes to a select few players a lot of times putting them ahead of the team. I get it, they’ve earned their stripes but a coach is paid to make difficult decisions.

he puts his beliefs and bias ahead of team...refusal to use Nationalized rule...use of excessive Canadians when not needed/or best option...rostering of guys he has a hardon for who serve zero purpose...some games not even putting a helmet on....Guy is now an anchor around our neck, and yes...we won a lot...4..5...6 yrs ago now in spite of him as he has never changed...We just had an elite roster dropped in his lap

1 hour ago, 17to85 said:

Bottom line, we need to use both qbs and react when a guy is having a bad night and make no mistake, collaros was having a bad night.

A smart coach...would start Brown to see if he still firing, and ride with him until he starts scuffling if he does at all, if ZC is deemed "healthy" Let ZC see whets going on from sidelines and get a feel for what BC or TO is doing in case he needs to go in. A dumb coach would trot him out there....and or play him if he wasn't really healthy but heck it's the playoffs...where we seen that before in a dumb coach...oh yeah..here...with multiple players in multiple yrs...resulting in multiple Grey Cup losses

Many a Grey Cup win yr was the coming out party, or the unlikeliest of hero's going on a tear and the reason for the win....Ride the hot hand as long as you can....Brown based on last game....is the hot hand

So overall... You know it's win to make the playoffs or lose and you are done for the year.... And THAT is how they come out of the gate? ******* embarrassing and the most damning indictment of the coaching they've had this season.

Demski is cooked. He's not a top guy anymore he's just a depth piece, which is fine, but we're not using him like that.

We need more guys who play like Brady. That guy has more give a damn than half the team.

Singer might be showing he's better than Cobb of Corcoran, good thing he was allowed to grow on the practise roster......

Why is our defense allergic to having guys in the 1- 10 yards from the LOS?

Way too many soft as baby **** players on this team.

so thru 2 games shy of half a season in games...Singer and his production parlayed to a 1500 yard season, seven scores on only 74 catches, which is a more accurate indication than say just playing 2..3 games and projecting....also not surprising seeing in 2022 was the PAC 12 yardage leader in receiving while not even cracking the top 6 in receptions....do we even know who are guys are and what they may be capable of

Cobb..Corrcoran...Shitkicker combined had 38 games...29 catches...(BTW Singer had 29 catches) for a whopping 265 yards and zero TD's....Cobb and Corcoran were 'starters" in a dual role when we didn't need to start 3 Canadians as we only designated 5 nationals on offence...and anyone here trying to defend Osh and say Singer needed to "learn/develop" on the PR and was only ready by Labor day is almost as much an idiot as Osh...You have skill and can play....You can play...CIS rookies yes a lot of times need 1..2..3 yrs to develop...Players outta the NCAA machine dont.

Imagine his numbers and where he would be developmentally if played right from the get go?...One place he would have been is slam dunk ROY for one.

But that's Osh's way....and his way needs to hit the road...and Singer isnt an isolated case...who knows who else would be killing it if given the opp...Smith if given will right outta the gate this yr likely be our MODP nominee...Heck in his limited play as a starter as it was (and only again due to injury) was one of our...if not the best defender on a consistent basis all yr, along with Griffin....and look how long it took the wizards here to realize he needed to be a starter...basically 3 yrs there too

This may be recency bias on my part but I’d start Brown next week. I can understand starting Zach because Brown has been streaky but if Brown is “on” he gives us the best chance to win. The problem is I don’t know which QB will show up. I think if Zach is healthy, MOS starts him.

I will not gain a wink of sleep until after our next game, that much is sure.

100 percent...the smart coach would play the hot hand outta the gate...ZC is great insurance off the bench if needed....Tho his playoff performances all thru his run here havnt really been remarkeable...But maybe he comes off the bench and is vintage...weirder things have happened

not just QB....Osh doesnt have the plums to pull a guy off field...nor I think the smarts to realize a guy may need to take a seat

So what the hell magic wand did we wave in the 4th quarter that converted this team into what we should have seen at the beginning of the game, and actually should have been there at the beginning of the season...I was ready to write us off and then Zack went down and Drew came in and everything with this Jekyl and Hide team fell into place...Do we have any magic left cuz we're gonna need it the rest of the way....Everyone on the club seemed to come alive when we needed it...Is there a correlation between Collaros exiting and Brown entering...Sure as heck looked that way to me...Anyway ...congrats to the guys and I hope they find a way to keep it going

and same with if ZC didn't drop several deuces too...In all honesty...we would have been in a clinched spot weeks ago if we didnt have such lousy coaching...This season isnt really on any player...or players...they dont set the roster...they dont create the schemes...they aren't in charge of game wek prep...they dont make the dumb decisions in game....thats more the issue

This is why I really disagree when people lament the talent just isn't there ... We need some changes in pieces for sure but there's more talent on this team than they consistently show. This team should have been solidified in a playoff spot weeks ago. The inconsistency is the coaching full stop.

yup....our overall talent isnt as bad as many lament...how we use what we have...or dont use...how we prepare them to succeed...who we choose to use...how we set our roster...and how we prep and then manage in game situ's...thats the issues....and thats not on players

This is where you and I don’t agree but we both can’t get inside his head, only @Noeller can. (love you).

He’s a very smart football guy, been around it since ever but remains steadfast to certain approaches that trump (sorry to use that word) the x’s and o’s of football.

We had a qb who could put the ball on target - and so suddenly there was hope. The change in attitude of the offense was palpable. Zach was in there FAR too long.

He doesn't know the x and o for most part..and i stick by the opinion he isnt a good evaluator of talent. And intangibles he values dont translate to top teir players..

The actual players on offence all came alive after the switch..was very noticeable

So the plan should be to tell Tommy that Zach is starting and then one hour before the game announce that Dru is starting?

Or have someone..I nominate the shitkicker kick him in the shin midway thru 2nd quarter to take him out of game and insert dru

Be shitkickers biggest contribution of the yr

I'd say the Bombers are a good team for this year and maybe next year - a lot of key guys are getting older

As has been said, they really should be a team that is winning now - they should have 2nd or 3rd place solidified

It's crazy...they could be one and done, or they could come out and bully ball their way to victory

In any case, we have at least one more game to female dog about

On target and on time. Dru was hitting great windows in the D. He made the throws look easy vs. trying to thread an insanely tight gap because of getting it out too slowly, as Zach does.

He threw guys open, put the ball where only they could make a play on it; he did everything right.

It's easy to look at going 11/11 and see he did well. But there is so much more. He averaged a TD pass every 5.5 attempts. He averaged 16.8 per completion, with a max of 46. It's not like he took all check-downs and had 1 or 2 huge catch-and-runs. 216.1 QBR.

This year, when Dru has been sacked less than 3 times, he has been worlds better. That's 6 games, 1228 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT, 7 (of his total 9) passes of 30 yards or more, QBR of 120.1, 97/128 for 75.8 completion % and 10.42 yards per attempt.

Give dru brown solid protection and a competent OC, and we will see amazing results.

Next year is far too hard to say.

This year, we got to 3/4 of the way through the 3rd quarter and were getting panned by the 2nd-best team in the West's 3rd stringers. We came 3/8ths of a game away from getting eliminated from the playoffs.

This team is bipolar. It can be a very good team, and it can be a very bad team. It could be a great team this year, but it's likely too late for those changes.

Next year? In the CFL, anything is possible with an off-season of change. And if the cap goes up as much as it seems it will, everyone has a shot. Not to mention the adaptation to all the new changes.

What we need the most now is a rebuild of the Culture. Work ethic, motor, discipline, execution, and accountability need to be high. Mos built all that once upon a time. Though he did it by using up about as much leash as an HC gets these days, and with a generational roster. Whether he can rebuild that in a timely fashion, I am sure we are going to find out over the next season and a half or so.

Mark said a little while ago... We are, by every definition, a .500 football team. It worked out literally, of course, but even by the loose version of it, we are exactly as our record states... Just a very average team. And bi-polar is right. Nobody has any idea what to expect from week to week. There is absolutely no excuse for coming out the way we did last night. Not just the offense, but the atrocious defense looking lost, and on ST Vaval put the ball on the ground at least twice... Fortunately only once did it lead to a TO. We were absolutely FLAT in a Do Or Die game. That's obviously on coaching but also on the locker room leadership. I just can't figure out how we came to this, from where we were in 2019, where the leadership group kept everyone in check.
