JuranBoldenRules Posted yesterday at 07:10 PM Report Posted yesterday at 07:10 PM I really liked Echols last preseason. Don't think Moore can do much, kind of always limited in terms of ability to win routes even at his peak.. Screen, or down the rail. Two ACL injuries. Think we really need to build up offense around opening up horizontal space and then going over the top with Wheatfall based on who we have. Not a ton of vertical threat, Mitchell looks a little heavy to me otherwise he'd be a guy that would be a vertical threat. Get Logan involved in combo with Oliviera both running and in pass game. It's going to be a slog. Noeller 1

I don't think it would require 2 DI spots... because they way the roster is already laid out Ayers is on the DL anyway, this would be swapping he and Woods.

I don't have the overall roster numbers per game this year, but Calgary, Montreal, Saskatchewan, and Toronto have all carried a bunch of bodies and rotated heavily on the DL. Calgary has 8 ol on the ar right now, 6 of which are imps. The Argos have 7, with 5 imps. The riders have 9, with 6 imps and 1 global. The Als have 7, with 3 imps plus Johnson on the IR. Those 4 teams are the top 4 teams at rushing the passer in the league. They combined have 98 sacks, the remaining 5 combine for 75. Calgary and SSK are likely the 2 best Ds in the league right now. For my money, Montreal is in the top half of defences as well, pretty easily. ott, is running 9 dl with 3imps and 1 global. Edmonton is running 10dl, with 5 imps. Bc is running 10 with 5 imps. And Hamilton is running 7 with 5 imps. We've got 7, with 4 imps. Though we ran more than half of the year so far with 6 and 3-4. So the TLDR is, average league-wide is 8.22 DL on the ar, 4.66 imps. Each team starts 1, and Di/back-ups just under 2. If you have Canadians who can pass rush, or fringe starters as back-ups rotating heavily, you can get away with less. If you don't, teams are running a lot of DL to rotate currently. But we are not doing really either. We don't put out a lot of DL bodies, and we don't have quality ni pass rushers. Goalie Posted yesterday at 07:16 PM Report Posted yesterday at 07:16 PM (edited) Ayers had the second most tackles last week and he plays special teams only really. Dude ain’t coming off. He is our special teams. Edited yesterday at 07:17 PM by Goalie

17to85 Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Someone else would make tackles on special teams. Look i like Ayers plenty, but he's a luxury and woods would provide more benefit to the defense which IMO outweighs a special teams player. rebusrankin 1

If Ayers actually played on defense, it would be tougher. Booch 1
WinnipegGordo Posted 23 hours ago Author Report Posted 23 hours ago @DTonOB how many defensive snaps has Ayers taken the last couple of games?
WinnipegGordo Posted 22 hours ago Author Report Posted 22 hours ago (edited) few transactions today: Echoes and Moore signings confirmed. (both added to practice roster) Sterns transferred to the 1 game injured list. Dandy released. Cobb transferred to the active roster. Edited 22 hours ago by WinnipegGordo
Booch Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago Woods has played coverage on teams, and if you add Bailey for Thomas, he can play on coverage as well.....and as said someone else would pick up the slack A special teams guy who is not a big time returner is not gonna make or break you...A guy on defense who can take 20 reps or so, and have impactful play as well as allow the other's on the dline to play that much better too Ayer's basically takes reps on short yardage packages...Woods obviously would as well being a legit dline guy, and he plays defensive reps...and plays them well and plays on kick returns as well as field goal unit...so it's really a win win 6 minutes ago, WinnipegGordo said: few transactions today: Echoes and Moore signings confirmed. Cobb on is a given with injuries imo. atleast this week. 1 minute ago, Booch said: Woods has played coverage on teams, and if you add Bailey for Thomas, he can play on coverage as well.....and as said someone else would pick up the slack A special teams guy who is not a big time returner is not gonna make or break you...A guy on defense who can take 20 reps or so, and have impactful play as well as allow the other's on the dline to play that much better too Ayer's basically takes reps on short yardage packages...Woods obviously would as well being a legit dline guy, and he plays defensive reps...and plays them well and plays on kick returns as well as field goal unit...so it's really a win win more I looking at it the more I like the Echols signing woods runs like a mofo for a big man. which is usually a given here for imp dts. Yeah like echols. swerve is worth a shot but off an acl is a big question. echols i think is a very high floor guy who could fit really well with zach Piggy 1 and bearpants 2

At this point Ayers is the better LB but gets the back seat due to Oshs penchant for favoring/valuing vets too much, and really Ayers been here now 2 yrs...It's more than time to make the move and he's definitely "earned" the shot If we feel the need to continue to dress 45 linebackers then yeah slot Woods in for Logan, especially if we are able to dress Echols right away. You then have another returner option with CFL experience doing it with him and Vaval wbbfan and Piggy 1 2
wbbfan Posted 22 hours ago Report Posted 22 hours ago ideally, id rotate ayers with shay/smith so we can go full imp dl on passing downs. put in the dime db for jones. They can follow around the lber, or drop into a shallow zone easy enough Pete Catan's Ghost, Piggy 1 and rebusrankin 3

Would seem to be the way to go against the Riders. Yet, we know Jake will get the majority of reps at DT. just because he sucks & Osh gives the big Eff You to everyone. rebusrankin 1
Noeller Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Woof to that receiving corps... Thank goodness for Schoen, but the rest of it..... Oi.
BomberBall. Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Man, they really don’t like Mitchell. What a horrible signing.
