2019 CFL Season: Around the League

Pre season action 1PM PT

BC at Edmonton

3 Areas To Watch

Number 2 Pivot: Who Steps Up?

BC - Ricky Lloyd and first-year Leos Austin Apodaca and Cole Sears will handle the quarterback reps in hopes of getting a leg up on sticking behind Reilly on the depth chart.

Edmonton- Danny O’Brian, Logan Kilgore, Briscoe.

- One big observation in the first week of camp is the depth at receiver. Standouts at the position have included Joey Augustin, Marquis Bundy and Mexican additions Fernando Richarte and Gerardo Alvarez. All CFL clubs are required to keep one global player on their roster beyond training camp.

- Defensive Line: Calling On Another Bookend

With Odell Willis having another strong showing in camp, the big question remains who will line up as the other bookend.

- Linebacker Adam Konar gets to battle some of his own teammates after he was cut loose and quickly picked up by the Lions on day one of camp. He’ll start at MLB

This ham team reminds me a bit of the don mathews als. high pressure and the back end focusing on forcing turn overs.Cover 0 isnt their base but Id say its the modern equivalent and as close as we will see to cover 0 as a base in this era.

We are supposed to have the exact weapons needed to beat a D like that.  Short passing, Andrew Harris, solid OL

We are and do. We didnt have the appropriate game plan in place, and didnt execute. Worst of all we continually turned the ball over.

Idk what the split is, but when you turn the ball over 5+ times the chances of winning are extremely slim. (I would guess in the 20-30% range)

Week 16 we play them next. I hope this game sticks in the teams craw. I want to see the best and nastiest game this team has played under the canadian mafia. Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.

No how perfect a game plan is, it will not survive 6 freaking turnovers.

Said turnovers were partly the result of not being able to contain a pressure defense.

Both true. Its cause and effect. Nichols has been struggling when dealing with pressure this year. Pressure is what hammersmell does. We have every thing to counter act that pressure, but instead put him in a bad position. And he did what you would expect of a qb who struggles with pressure and worse.

aaand now Brandon Banks out this week for Ham......gift wrapping a win for those asshats in the rectangle.

Hey it's not all bad, they still have to play fajardo at qb.

Thanks for that tidbit, I've been struggling with my picks this week. Wanted to pick Hamilton so bad...

I hope the Riders received nothing in return.

But wasn't Collaros the answer? Remember Rods claim of an 18-0 season if they signed him? lol

Also someone needs to seriously tell this guy to hang em up. He just went from one suspect Oline to a team with a absolutely horrible Oline....he won't finish the year.

That would be amazing if Collaros tore it up in Toronto... 😂

Do they intend to provide him some protection? Cause if not....

This is really unfortunate.  The chances of him doing permanent damage to himself (if it hasn't happened already) is so high that it's too bad that the league doesn't step in and say that he's not insurable so no contract will be allowed.

I know times are desperate in Toronto but trading for Collaros is a brutal move. Guess Fajardo is now the chosen one in Riderland.

Odd trade. But I guess this is Popp grasping at straws. It's not like he gave up much... Then again, he didn't get much.

Doesnt matter what they intend, they have no ability to execute.

The riders are now insanely thin at QB. If Fajardo gets hurt or struggles really bad they have no one to call. I wonder if TO makes a move now. Has the MBT and or Franklin era now ended?

Montreal could only dream of releasing Brandon Banks

Don't those bozos proof read their stuff......I guess there's little difference between Bridge and Banks ... I suppose it's the language barrier

That's the CFL.ca headline, I didn't even notice the mistake.  😄

At first I thought maybe ZC was signing with the team that originally recruited him so he could retire there, but if there's a 2nd rounder involved, then TO is expecting him to play. That poor bastard. Legitimately concerned about his long term health...
