Okay, so the off season officially begins now that the Grey Cup is over. Lots of topics for discussion in the months to come with the Bombers & the League. A new CBA needs to be negotiated sooner rather than later.  Will there be an eventual agreement or a lockout? How much will the salary cap go up? Randy Ambrosie is on record that wants the cap to significantly go up so that is a positive.  Will Bo Levi Mitchell sign with an NFL or perhaps another CFL team? What about Mike Reilly & Trevor Harris who are also free agents? There's a new start up league called the  AAFL & there are legit concerns that it'll draw star CFL players away or hamper free agent signings with CFL teams. Coaching changes in BC & Toronto. The continuing evolving story of the expansion Halifax Schooners & possible exhibition games in Mexico.

With Rod Pedersen leaving the Riders maybe they will get someone a little more level headed/fair minded.  His schtick of predicting the Bombers to miss the playoffs year after year under MOS and Walters was growing tiresome. The only joy I got was watching that prediction fail miserably, year after year.

totally agree...and even today on his interview on the radio, when asked with all the un-rest in the west...question marks all over the west that if the Bombers were the favorite or one of to win the cup...and he still couldn't hardly agree to it...what a putz

I'm glad to see Rod gone for the sake that he was far too much of a fanboy. Literally too much Koolaid. Bob has always been level and in the middle - yes cheering for the bombers but calling them out when they play worth crap.

As for Rod beating his alcoholism, high five to him. If he is using his experience to help others, even better. All the best to him in that regard.

 

Pedersen was ridiculous and completely bush league and unprofessional.   Rider fans should be thrilled that they can now have someone who isn't delusional writing and talking about the club. 

Pedersen is worshipped like a God over there...they're going to be more distraught losing him than they are about Jonesy...

Broadcasting 101: Every mic is a live mic. Still.... We've all done it. He was thrown under the bus by the TD or someone in the room. Same as Roger Millions incident some years ago... Totally thrown under the bus by a minion.

And then after it happened (mid-season last year) he apparently lost the right to travel with the team. 

Riders basically put pressure on the radio station to kick him out.

He just wasn't worth the lost time listening to.I usually enjoy listening to other broadcasters to see their opinion of their team and ours.When Rod was interviewed it just wasn't worth listening to.Not a little biased like most but straight up delusional.

As a moderator, I see no harm in speculating and if people want to share what they 'know' or what they've heard .. so be it .. like anything, take it with a grain of salt and don't treat it as gospel.

There is an interesting corollary to the story: it would seem that Pederson was done in by someone who had an axe to grind with him. This might mean that his core personality didn't change all that much after he went dry.

Well, the RUMOUR is that during the hot Mike fiasco, he was talking about Reynolds. "incompetent" was about the nicest thing he mentioned. The feeling is that, under the previous management, Rod was a lot more in the loop and he was unhappy with being held at an arms length.

The real kicker was when he was gossiping about Reynolds having an affair with a junior staff member in the organization. 

Again, this coming from someone who says he knows someone - so huge grain of salt.
