Unless the person has a record for same, there's a secondary charge or the person is an ass and gives them a hard time. The reason is that the league and the union fought tooth and nail last time about the option year window. The league wanted it gone and in order to get the concession they eventually had to shorten minimum contract length to one year. It hurts the collective bargaining process when teams who fought to get rid of the NFL option year window suddenly start randomly giving it back.
