Giant German guy, not a football player zgot into the Superbowl media area, and got interviewed quite a few times by people thinking he was a Patriot or Eagle.  including a by a guy from  "Homeland Security"

Willie Jefferson officially back with the Riders. Jefferson/Hughes could be a scary good combo at DE.

Started to show it last year, as injuries held him out a month.... I personally think he's gonna decline rapidly now... 

Yeah Huff is no fool. He wasn't an SMS casualty by any means...they have no reason to cut salaries  at moment.

Rumoured to be $190K base. Hughes must be somewhere close to that amount, so ~$350K is a lot of cash for two INT DEs.

Gonna have to canibilize defense elsewhere.. .or roster in general. They also have nothing of any significance signed at DT.

It was a salary cap move, Especially trading Hughes for 2 fourth round picks in the next 2 CFL Drafts. Here are two quotes from yesterday's Calgary Herald. The first is Stamps GM John Hufnagel & the second from Charleston Hughes:

 

"It was a tough day at the office - no question about it.  Charleston has been a soldier for 10 years.  He's a big part of our winning ways but it's the salary cap era that we're in & I have depth at the defensive end position. A very difficult decision & we just tried to make the right choice.  What's the right choice? What's the wrong choice? We couldn't afford as many as we had & one had to go. It could have been one of the other two."

 

"I knew that there were going to be decisions that were going to have to be made. That was a stress the whole year about  cap & stuff.  But based on how I play & what I bring to the table, I didn't think I was going to be that player to be traded."

Anyone ever figure out what issue he had last year? Injury wise?

Hughes has been silent about suiting up for the Riders so far, I pray he's seriously contemplating retirement.

Rumours which usually are true have Adarius Bowman  out in EDM.

Not surprised. His contract was crazy. I think he still has good football left in him. One year removed from a great season. He looked like he was rounding back into form at the end of last season.

I do not want any part of Dropsies Bowman. Lapo and Walters know all too well about that guy....I think they'll stay away.

For the right $$ I would take him on. Can be a game breaker and would help with depth at the WR spot.

Hearing there were negotiations between the #Eskimos and Bowman to restructure his contract. Would have been quite the cut from 265K. Team made attempts to trade Bowman but his salary was a road block for other teams. #CFL

only way you sign bowman is if you are willing to throw the ball to him roughly 50 times a game. 

Edmonton's receiving corps is going to look very different this season.

I'd sign Bowman for the right price.

I don't think Bowman will come cheap. I doubt we could fit him in for anything near what he's making now and it sounds like he wants a lot.

Someone desperate like Montreal can have him... Whatever. 

If we are gonna pay large dollars I would rather offer Mathews that and see if he is interested in coming back.

If not..i think 150-155k should be more than enough to land a Daniels, or even less would be a deal we could get Criner...who I think  is a Darvin Adams type guy just needing to have his opportunity to be a top 2 guy in a system

My default would be going after SJ Green and only cause his age, but he is probably the most clutch guy out there
