Boy, there was a guy named Lancaster that I think won only a couple of games in his first two years with an underperforming Riders squad then went on to win cups with a couple of other teams that had a little more talent as well as being a very well respected color commentator in between. You guys are pretty tough on Mr Oshea. Although it's true he has not always made the greatest decisions on the field, he's rapidly improving and I have no trouble backing him. He says and does the right things for the long term health of this club. I believe in MOS and his coaching and really think as long as there are no great injury situations this will be a turn around year and we should be challenging for top spot all year.

Buck was a human punching bag & was absolutely finished as a player. Nicholls gets rid of the ball faster than Buck did. He still has some football left in him. I like Nicholls behind Willy. Hope we re-sign him.

Asking your starting QB what he thought of his previous OC, both in terms of the scheme and what the players thought of him in the room/meetings......a necessity. The absolute final say? Of course not...but nobody suggested that.

coach17 reacted to Jaxon in Grey Cup Ticket Sales
I have a different perspective.   I bought my 4 seats (which are excellent seats near mid-field) with the 3 year committment.  Last year I paid 400 per seat for 7 seats which were not nearly as good.   I've been a season ticket holder since 1968, so yes, I've supported the club through good times and bad.    I don't feel that I was "sold a bill of goods by the Blue Bombers", because they delivered what they promised, and the price was in-line with last year's.   To the best of my knowledge, they haven't offered equivalent tickets to my purchase at lower prices.   I realize with any ticketed event, that black-market tickets may be sold well above or well below face value, and that you take a chance that cheaper "might" become available.  You also might have to pay alot more depending on the laws of supply and demand.   History has shown that if the host team is not in the game, cheaper tickets become available, but if they are in the game, it can get crazy.  There have been exceptions, such as 2007 in Toronto, but this has been the general rule.

I don't consider the Nissan deal to be an equivalent purchase due to the volume of tickets involved.   I glad that some younger football players are getting the opportunity to attend the game.  It's unfortunate that they didn't sell out at full price, but I have positive feelings about the Nissan deal, because what they did was generous.

All that being said, I'm quite concerned with the escalation in Grey Cup ticket prices in general.  I go every year, and I can afford to do it.  My concern is for the long time fans who support the team year in and year out, but then can't afford to attend the game when it comes to town.  I would suggest the league insures that they "dance with the ones that brought them".  I don't want the Grey Cup to become too corporate or elite.   The enthusiasm that the regular fans from across the country bring to the game is what makes it special.

I don't post very often on here, usually just read the comments. Like many I've noticed the half-dozen or so posters who have taken over almost every thread so they can blast management, coaches, players, etc., using the same attacks ad nauseum, and generally making the forum almost unreadable. But any time someone tries to say something positive about the team they get ganged up on, ridiculed, and shouted down by those same half-dozen posters (basically they act like condescending internet bullies - to steal someone else's words). So it's quite laughable to see one of those half-dozen posters use very aggressive and insulting language, and call someone like Spuds a bully when Spuds has always seemd to post in a calm, rational manner and, as far as I've seen, has been civil to everyone and never acted like a bully. Anyways, I'll leave it at that and flame on if you must.

KG a couple of years ago would have been a good move. Today he is past his best before date and would much rather work with our young guns if DW goes down, even if they crap the bed.

Don't like to see anyone lose their job , but this was a move that had to be made in order to improve. A shutdown defence would go a long way towards a Grey Cup appearance next year.

We already have it. It's called heart. Now just need to improve our talent level, o and d line and middle linebacker are the greatest needs as well as a little more depth.

Kuale is a liability. Costs us with his undisciplined play. Problem is I did not see a lot out of Krohmah today was out of position and did not seem quick enough. We need a quick hard hitting bigger body in the middle. Someone who has a nose for the football and is always around the play. Wild is the closest we have, just not quite big enough.

I believe the heart is there but the talent isn't. We are a few quality player upgrades (3/4) away from being a real threat.

You guys that are in hysterics have to calm down and realize that was one of the best games of the year in the CFL where two teams fought hard and in the end it came down to whomever had the ball last.

Officials be damned, gambles be damned, if we had more time we would have marched down the field and scored too.

Both teams exposed weaknesses, so how come we're the only ones who have bad players?

Does anybody now believe that we can't go into a playoff situation against this team and win?

I saw a damned good effort out there and the Roughriders knew they were in a game today.

coach17 got a reaction from DR. CFL in What's happened to Jarvis Jones this year?
Last year he was a dominating pressence at the tackle spot, I believe he even played left tackle for a few games. This year he didn't do so well in preseason and is on the practice roster behind Knapp and Howard. I find Knapp is quick enough but gets pushed around a lot at tackle. On Willy's fumble last night he was sacked by Howard's man and after Howard got beat he stood around and watched while the ball bounced free. January got schooled by Chick again. We sorely need last years Jones to help that oline.
