There are many people here that believe pure passing QBS are the only way to go in the CFL and can't stand QBs like Damon Allen, there are also many that think even saying anything remotely negative about Willy or positive about another Bomber QB immediately means you want Willy gone.

It's sad that even Ottawa's offensive line is better than ours, and we're playing three imports, and that's with the supposed guru of offensive line coaches, coaching or something.

Not a big fan of Cotton's - he's been worse than Grigsby when he has had a chance. I still remember his second game where to this day I hope he was high on something because he sure played like he had no clue what was going on. I think Grigsby is just showing the signs of getting pummeled and O'Shea (O'Shame - I like that but not yet, save the insults to next year if we get worse or stay the same) is giving him a rest.

I'm hoping I'm wrong, I'd love to see Cotton have a break out game and have Mr. P call me out don't get me wrong, just haven't been impressed from what I've seen of him during the reg season.

People need to stop bitching about Grigsby....Tied for third in rushing...leads in rushing TDs....second In yards Recieving by RBs to Andrew Harris. Similar yards as Whitiker who plays behind a far superior o line than Grigsby. What exactly do people expect from Grigsby?

I did hear that the Bombers are interested in Connor McDavid. Now they only need to get him to lose interest in millions of dollars that he could get in the NHL to play for tens of thousands in the CFL.

I haven't lost interest at all - I wouldn't be posting here if I did. Contrary to popular belief - I'm excite for our future here. Willy to me still looks like the real deal - he's taking a hell of a beating and he's really shown his human side over the past 8 games but I liken this season to what happened last year here in Edmonton. Look at what the eskies are doing this year now.

Willy will get better, and so too should the Oline. Only thing now I'm watching is how the players react to losing. Nice to see Leggett upset and talking to the D - and nice to see Wily screaming obscenities as he's walking off the field after his third int of the night. Shows they still care - frustrated but they still care. Unlike last year where they were joking on the sideline as they were heading to another blowout loss.

Looking forward to the thanksgiving game - though I think we'll get blown out I always enjoy seeing the big blue play live

Marcel is what he is. He's a nice average offensive coordinator. Not going to set the world on fire, won't be terrible either. I've made the comparison before, he's the Kevin Glenn of offensive coordinators.

Yeah, if Willy can't go, they'll win their 2nd game against us - easy. Could fluke out another towards the end if the team their playing has clinched, can't move up (or down) and rest all their starters - Ottawa players will be playing for jobs.

And Mr P - take some reading lessons ON that Renaud thread I never said he could do anything other than punt. WTF are you reading. Why don't you quote me where I said he did. I said he should punt because if someone breaks through and kills Lirim on a PUNT  then WHO do we have to kick that 45 yard field goal? Where did I mention Renaud there? He can't place kick hence why I didn't say that. English must not be your first language

Things started ok, in first quarter.....
    Willy was getting protection....
    Bombers were controlling the ball....
    Glenn was being pressured....
    2nd quarter....another story
...Grigsby fumble sets up BC FG....
    ...Bad snap...another gift Safety....
Then a long BC drive puts them up 15-3.....
Glenn had a nice 3 quarters.....
....while Blue were loading up against the run
Willy goes down, before the half......
    ...might as well been 150-3....
As Brohm accomplished nothing, in 2nd half...
...with nobody doing anything around him, as well.......
Bomber D shut the Lions down in the 3rd.....
...while Bomber O continued its ineptitude.....
175 yards in O....  is not going to cut it...
Grigsby kept going down on first contact.....
    Receivers struggled to get open....
Some strange play calls  on O, as well...
Romby took a major penalty ....and just took up space, otherwise....
Hard to run hitch passes, when nobody blocks.....
    Can't block on screens, either....
Not having a backup snapper......black mark....
D reverted back to the ole matador run tackling again, late
This team simply lacks jam..... on both sides on the line of scrimmage
We can't find a way to get Sears into this lineup??
    Lions 160 rushing....Grigsby 25.......
Another week....another spate of bad penalties.....dumb majors....
This team needs a bye, in the worst...physically and mentally.....
No more gin references.....medical team has me on morphine, now...
....watching stuff like this...perhaps just as well....

Well, lets not blame Harris here. C'mon guys, what's he supposed to say " Our oline is crap I hope I can get double digits against the worst run defense in the league"? I'll give you saying stuff like that is great locker room material for the bombers to get them fired up, in reality I don't think it does much. For the most part I think it's media thing and a fan thing. I truly believe the players filter that stuff out as all of them have been mis quoted many times in the press. What was the question to Harris? Was he smiling when he said it? Did he wink? Or did he flag down a reporter in the street just to blurt that out?

Hey, I'm glad there's some talk before the game, makes it more interesting. And don't forget, if the Calgary / Toronto game runs long - switch to TSN2

Oh I get that don't worry. My point however, still stands. People in football want results instantly. Sometimes we get them because the 'rookie' in question is actually 24 or 25 years old and has been playing pro for a few years. In Trouba's case, it will take him at least another 5 years to realize his full potential (and I think he'll be one heck of a dman). I also think, that this time next year, Grigsby will be one heck of a CFL running back. Yes, his career will be shorter, but his development will be a lot faster that Trouba's and it already is. He has been improving every game. In football, like hockey, there are so many things that are being done 'away' from the play that the casual fan doesn't even pick up on, but the coaches do. My guess - Cotton isn't 'picking' those things up, hence the PR placement. Nick is. I'm a fan of his now.

One thing that's really funny about football - most people expect instant results. How about Jacob Trouba? He struggled to start the year, but look at how he finished (Jets best dman). Grigsby had a great first game but remember, he played a depleted TO team AND really the first game of the year is just another pre-season game - it's just a pre-season for the starters. He has been getting progressively better. If this was hockey no one would be saying anything, but in football, especially here, you put out right away and every week or you're a bum.

I'd be so much more concerned if he wasn't showing improvement. As many have said on this thread, his blocking is getting better, his running is getting better, and this is the first year of his life he's ever played CFL football which is vastly different from the football he grew up playing (people forget that little tidbit too).

I'm glad their building with a back like that. Cotton - someone mentioned durability - great point. He couldn't make it past preseason without getting banged up - I think he's too small to be an every day back (Chuck Bob was small too but he was a tough as nails - Cotton has shown he's not as tough, or at the very least not as smart).

Based on what? He's done nothing in his opportunities given since the preseason, and to his credit Grigsby has gotten significantly better since the second half of the Montreal game. He doesn't fumble, his pass protection is improving, and he can be used in the passing game as well.

Being our arch enemy or not, you never like to see someone's season end this way. Riders are lucky they they piled up lots of their wins before the 2/3 rds mark but i really see them maybe winning two more games at most now down the stretch

What people need to understand is this, and I'm not sure why it hasn't been figured out yet - O'Shea will not call a player or phase out in public. The message you give to the media, and the one behind closed doors are often two entirely different messages.

I only agree on the last call - it was a pretty lame one (he hit the QB after he threw the ball, but it was very close, and they did call a similar one on Sk so they saw each other off). But the other three were uncalled for. In fact, IMO - if you get more than one a game you should be benched. What was terrible IMO is that he was still playing after his FOURTH one. That's on MOS and Etch - and if I were in the locker room I wouldn't ask EJ - I'd ask MOS (as he won't allow his assistants to be interviewed) outright why would he leave a player in the game who continually makes boneheaded decisions and zero big plays.

KptKrunch reacted to USABomberfan in Joey Elliott gains another life
Somewhat along the lines of what tracker said, that was what some fans were saying about Joey when he was here about not going along with Crowton's garbage system.  If I recall right though, Crowton pretty much made it clear that Brink and Elliot both were getting shipped out with zero chance to even come back to training camp the next spring.  Some of us who saw the boneheaded-ness of that called it out immediately, but for Joey Elliot that may have been the best thing that ever happened to him.  Given what happened to all of our QBs of that year, Elliot could've also seen his playing days end thanks to the dumpster fire Burke and Crowton started.

That being said, I don't by any means expect Elliot to tear it up on the Redblacks, nor do I think he'll be pressed into action, but I think bringing him in was the correct call.  It's possible O'Brien could see limited action for them such as in garbage time or something this year, but you NEVER ever throw a young guy to the wolves before he's ready, you guys should know that from seeing damage happen to players like Goltz, so I definitely think bringing Elliot in was the right call.  He may not have a future, and when DeMarco comes back next year could very well head back down south, but you might as well at least see what he's got and use it at this point with Burris on his way out and an offense that needs something to pump a little life in them.
