  1. LOL - smoke and mirrors? A win is a win, a loss is a loss. I did not think the Bombers would be 7 - 3 at this point. Could the Bombers be 3 - 7? Sure, the Bombers could be 10 - 0 or 0 - 10 . This, by far, is the most entertaining CFL season I've seen in probably 10 years. Maybe more. Other than the Tigercats, every team is capable of winning any week (one only need look at Mtrls' over Calgary earlier this year). And as already stated - bombers almost always 'stink' at the LDC - Saskatchewan almost always comes out on fire and the Bombers come out flat. The fact that they (Riders) were held to only 4 points (I think) in the second half shows that . Matt Nichols has been outstanding this year, and if Andrew Harris isn't already a shoe-in for Outstanding Canadian and possibly player, then the 'fix' is in lol. Just enjoy the season - no team is going to win every game and really looking forward to the rematch (thought gotta PVR it - off to Rogers and UFC on Saturday)
  2. Well, like I said on my first post on this thread, it's hard to beat a team (a good team - and B.C. is a good team) three games in a row, especially twice in their own building. I was just hoping for a good game, I was worried B.C. would blow the bombers out. Last year the bombers (though they had Drew Willy - worst QB this side of Tee Martin) were easily the worst team in the league. Nichols showed he's a bonafide #1 QB in this game. O'Shea definitely blew it with a 61 yard attempt. You don't do that unless you only have enough time to run one play, of you're in Hamilton and that gale force wind is at your back. Not to mention Vcr and the 'thick' damp air there. I too couldnt' believe it when Medlock trotted out. But also, the folks arguing the D lost the game are absolutely right. The only thing the bomber D did right in the 2nd half was they let B.C get their TD with over a minute left on the clock. But it was too easy for B.C. - receivers wide open all over the field. Pretty sad
  3. Ha nice, it's starting to look like a blow out early for the right team. Wow. Nice
  4. Pretty obvious from what I read in the media he does not want to play in Canada. I understand the Jets were offering him a longer term deal (6 to 8 years) at significantly more money than what he signed for (5.5 AAV or thereabouts) and he signed for two years, 6 million. As for his rescinding his trade request, that pretty obvious too. One thing I love about watching Jet hockey in Wpg is how they pick on the best player of the opposition. No way, no how, does young Mr. Trouba want to be treated like that every home game. If he was truly 'rescinding', he would have signed a 6 year deal like Gaudreau did at least. Signing a cheap two year is as good as saying 'trade me right now' but he's still making money
  5. Hard to beat the same team three times in a row. Think B.C. wins this one easily - hope it's not a blow out though want to see a close game.
  6. Hmmm, yep so good call then. Shoulder to shoulder, wasn't late and was reviewed.
  7. LOL - last time I checked on the chat in the Calgary game, the usual suspects were complaining loudly which I thought was hilarious for a team on a 7 game win streak playing the best team in the CFL right now (and it's not close) in their barn. Myself and one other were the only one to say 'chill, bombers will be Ok once they get their act together' and it turned out to be the game of the year. I think it's quite hypocritical when I complain then I'm told I'm not a 'bomber fan' yet when I try to be positive I get even worse treatment. 1 - 4 - that's how the bombers started out. Now the're 8 -6. And yes Stickem, it was an important game for Wpg, no doubt about it, but not a MUST win. See, Eskies' backs are against the wall. Maybe you missed iti - they don't play at home again until NOV 5 - and they have a schedule as tough as Wpg's. Only saving grace for the Esks is that last home game is against the Argos and that could very well be for the crossover (for either Wpg or Edm). Either way - this is how sports works. It's like a basketball game, it's ebb and flow. The bombers had a nice hot streak, and at the same time the Esks were not playing their best football by a longshot, culminating in that loss in Sk (which a few children on here reminded me about on the Trouba thread...which I still don't understand as I don't play or work for the Eskimo's so bringing that up is asinine - especially in a hockey thread) but hey, it is what it is. Now the bombers will be facing adversity, just like the Esks are right now. So far, the Esks are doing great. They beat a well rested B.C. team at home when they were playing their 4th game in 18 days, now they go into Wpg and beat them. Want the bombers to do well? Well, this is how the players and coaches learn and grow. It's easy to play when you're winning (and it's easy to cheer for the team when you're winning) - how about some support when they are struggling a bit? The sky isn't falling, the sun will come out tomorrow. End result - bombers got beat by a better team last night (by that I mean the Esks were by far the better team - this wasn't a 'bad' call or a missed or made field goal that settled the score. Next week is another game, I for one am looking forward to seeing how the Bombers respond, and my bet right now is they respond well.
  8. Hey guys - something may be lost here. That was a MUST WIN game for Edmonton. Here's why, the next game I'm going to is Nov 5. Not because I can't make it sooner, that's the next Eskie home game. They HAD to win against B.C. and they HAD to start this massive road trip with a win in Wpg, or their season was pretty much over. What you're seeing is a team in desperation mode. If they lost those two games (regardless of the outcome last week for the Bombers in Calgary) then both B.C. and Wpg clinched playoff berths and Eskies only chance was a crossover - and that would be slim (but would make the Nov 5 game a potential playoff game as the Argo's are in town). But, as usual, typical of you guys. You lose a game, and the moaning and complaining comes out in spades. Stickem - refs, really? So what did the ref's have to do with Derrel Walker scorching the defense for a 60 yard TD in the last two minutes? Losers use officials as excuses. From what I saw, the Eskimos were by far the better team last night and were full value for the win. Bombers are in tough though, this was kind of a must win for them too. They almost got the upset in Calgary, now they get spanked by Edmonton, and in their last four games they play teams that are clearly better than them even during their streak (B.C. and Ottawa). I wouldn't be surprised at all if the bombers did go 0 - 6 (already 0 - 2) and then I'll see everyone calling for O'Shea's , LaPolice's, Richie Hall's, Wade Miller's, and Kyle Walters heads. Same old same old. Best part? Trading Willy (good move) means there is no QB signed for next year (Nichols, Glenn, and Davis all have only this year left on their contracts). Though I expect Nichols would re-sign in Wpg it's not a sure thing as Sask and Mtrl could take long hard looks at him. Though I do think Nichols likes Wpg and Jones though him expendable in Edmonton so I doubt he'd go work for him again.
  9. Right for both. But he's also on a very cap friendly, long term deal. I also heard a rumour that that trade was proposed but Snow wanted more. Right now, Hamonic is a much better dman than Trouba. Also, where does that help Wpg? You move Myers to 3rd pairing now? Problem (not really a 'problem' per say) in Wpg there are too many RH dmen, no lefties. Oilers are in the exact opposite position. A deal involving those two would make the most sense and (hopefully) make both clubs stronger. I'd rather than then seeing Chevy load up another US team. But sounds like that where Trouba would prefer to go anyway (if anyone here is actually not talking subjectively on where Trouba wants to go)
  10. Ummm no. Oilers have Klefbom, Larsson (look up what he did as in minutes played, dzone starts, who he started against, and then see he was a plus 15 on a team that scored fewer than 200 goals) and Sekera. Then there's Nurse, Davidson, Fayne, Reinhart, and Gryba. Oilers are loaded on the left, afer Larsson they are thin on the right but Fayne is an outstanding dman if he's on third pairing playing against lesser competition. But in case you missed it, as soon as the Oilers found out that JP was falling to 4, they stopped talking. The big rumour was us getting Subban for Draisaitl, Klefbom, and a swap of picks (so Montreal could grab Dubois and the Oilers were taking Sergachev ). They want Puljujarvi for McDavid. Who wouldnt' want a 6'3", 210lb 18 year old who thinks the game as well as McDavid? And why would you give that up for a guy who, right now, is nothing but a #4 dman (if he was that 'damn' good he'd have been ahead of Myers but he's not). So no, Oilers do have dmen, but they don't have enough depth on the right side. But with Nurse having two years, not one, left on his ELC, I wouldn't do that deal (I definitely would from the Jets side). I like the three way trade being proposed (as in what could happen) with Fowler ending up in Winnipeg (Trouba is too expensive for the Ducks and the Ducks do not need him) - with Anaheim getting something from us (not Nurse though) and Trouba landing here. One thing for sure, I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the Jets offices to hear all the different scenario's being bandied about.
  11. LMAO - why would Edmonton do that? For what - Trouba? What has he done, other than regress since his rookie year. Not a chance there - not even straight up, never mind a D prospect. Why not throw McDavid in there too
  12. Ummm no. That's why I said "who would NJ give up?" See, they need offense there, that's why they traded for Taylor Hall. If Hall is a bust there (which will take a year or two to determine) then they would but Trouba will be long gone by then.
  13. Oh agreed there - RNH is the odd man out. I'd do RNH for Trouba but do the Jets need RNH? Klef is a risk - I wouldn't take him yet. He hasn't proven he can stay healthy though when he has played he's been improving steadily and will be on the top here with Larsson this year, but can he last the year? Either way, I don't think a trade of any sort will happen between Edmonton and Wpg. Like I mentioned earlier, they could potentially be fighting each other for a wild card spot. More than likely Trouba is traded to the east. Maybe New Jersey to replace Larsson, but who would the Jets want from New Jersey? Or put another way, who would New Jersey give up that the Jets would make the deal?
  14. great - just beat B.C. But this is Jet thread little boy
  15. LMAO - a first overall plus a guy locked into a long term very cap friendly deal for Trouba? I'm sure it works for you. Now, Trouba + Scheiflie, that works for me
  16. Johnny hockey had a great world cup and is definitely a player I'd pay to see play (even though he plays for those 'evil' FLames lol) but yeah, he hasn't earned 8 million a year yet. I agree that it's possible both he and Trouba want to play in the US, that is entirely possible. For all we know Johnny G has also requested a trade behind the scenes. But I for sure would make him sit, especially for the first two games against the Oilers
  17. I'm thinking Darnell Nurse. My bet - if Wpg was in the eastern conference a Nurse for Trouba trade may have already occurred. Just a tough call to make when you're talking about two players with such high potential. To me though makes sense. They're almost mirror images of each other and what each team needs. That's why it probably won't happen lol
  18. Why? To play behind Myers and Buff? Wpg needs a Lefty dman, not a right. Oilers are rife with Left dmen and need a right one. That's where the Jets should look but highly unlikely to happen as the teams are in the same conference and conceivably be fighting for a wild card spot
  19. Sure - if you're a Rider fan. Didn't you read this thread? It's called a double standard and you can't even see it. Pretty sad
  20. Nope - never once said i hated the bombers, just said what you Iso, and rest were all saying. Only difference is I did cheer for another team. And gee, now their winning - I wrote something a very long time ago here - I won't bother re-writing it. Suffice to say I'm glad I switched over to the Eskimos. And don't be hypocritcal - i.e. if you're going to run rider fans down for being jerks on their forum...... just sayin............(and that's a general comment not directed at you 17)
  21. LMAO - no never. Take yourself as a great example DO - very tongue in cheek but very knowledgeable as well. Your odds and sods are not only entertaining but pretty much always spot on!
  22. To weigh in on Dressler and Smith - they're too small IMO - how many games have they played so far this season? Though I do like Smith - I think once healthy he'll be a real threat - Dresslers' best days are long behind him though. He needs the ball a lot to be really effective and every time he gets hit now I think to myself "is he going to get up". I believe it was his second game for the bombers too where Willy had him deep, and threw a very nice pass. Problem was the DB was 6'0 and Dressler is 5' 7" - no contest DB easily knocked the ball away. Dressler is more of a 'wide open' guy he won't win many battles. I'd like to see Smith back of course but IMO I'd rather see Denmark in there over Dressler. As for the thread topic - yup - Eskie's defense is getting better but are still a shadow of the old one. Nice comment on Willis though. Willis and his stupid, shelfish 'swaggerville' in Wpg. How embarrassing. Nice to see he's grown up - and ADMITTED IT (he's even embarrarssed by that schtick as he should be). Never liked 'swaggerville'. But I find Willis this year seems to be a step behind. In the first half he had Durant and Durant outran him then overpowered another Esk for a first down (Durant is a monster no doubt about it) - Willis probably catches him even last year. I think this could be Willis' last year in the league unless he has a nagging undisclosed injury
  23. Durant took a pay cut to stay with there. Willy would need to do the same in Wpg before I`d categorize him in that league. Durant is very well respected in that locker room and to say anything but that is just plain `making stuff up`
