What I'm starting to get bothered by is that the Bombers are slowly veering from "we're always looking to upgrade" territory into "we have no clue what our plan is" territory. Releasing a guy before you let him try out for you in camp because you think you found someone better is one thing, doing it to like a dozen of them is another.

That's insane.  Another thing I find insane is Canadians purchasing Budweiser beer when the quality and selection of Canadian beer produced by micro-breweries is fantastic and often cheaper than that over hyped after wash.  Brainwashing en masse is alive and well.

The Bombers will also sell out the Rider home game in August, The griller Bowl. Probably come close on the home opener so there is three 33.5's right there. Throw in some important home games down the stretch for a playoff birth and we will hit 5, 6 sell outs.
The Bombers are the real deal now, trying to run like a real CFL team, the fans will see it and respond. The results will be seen on the field as well.

It's nice that we can argue over the top prospect(s) we will get over arguing over the top prospect(s) we want and then draft off the board.....

LOL... Friesen's such a d-bag.  Basically baiting Willy into reacting how Glenn himself reacted, just to get a headline. 

So when a running back breaks off a 40 yard run that is brought back cuz of a phantom hold, that's not a drastic play??
 
Also, since when is holding the "most obvious call to make"? Holding is probably the most subjective call that exists in football... you could argue there's holding by any lineman on almost every play...
 
Penalties should never be review-able, it just opens up a huge can of worms.... Like I said previously, train the officials better and accept the fact that human error will always exist no matter how well trained they are

this is quite possibly the stupidest idea I've heard in a long time.... the correct solution is to properly train the officials and expect that human error will come in to play every once and a while...

cuz it would be great to have a reliable NI starting safety!
 
I just want a good football team, don't care about vengeance on the fan forums 

I hope the team lasts for a long time, I wanna see a 10 team league soon... maybe even 12 in the next 10-15 years would be great...
 
As far as how long Desjardins will last... that's a different story... it would have to be a colossal disaster for him get fired this year but you never know... 

Doug Brown basically just states what everyone already knows.... of course this applies to all QBs, I bet Max Hall would be a pretty decent starter playing for Calgary too.... And I haven't heard one single person say that matching the ridiculous price Desjardins set is a good idea.... other than the anti-Glenn contingent, it seems the general consensus is if we can get him for cheap and he accepts the role on the team's terms he would be an excellent addition to the team... otherwise not worth it

If the CFL were even close in money to the NFL, I would agree that players should play out their contracts.   But seeing the discrepancy in salaries between the two leagues, the short career window of professional football  athletes, and how they risk their bodies for our entertainment, I have no problem with releasing a player early if they have a legit shot at getting on an NFL roster.
 
While we may lose a few star players every year in this manner, if the CFL is viewed as a viable stepping stone to get a shot at the NFL, then we will attract far more talent then we will lose.  Most of the guys that are in the CFL are fringe NFLers at best.  Let them take their shot at the payday, most eventually come back.
 
I know the argument is that these guys wouldn't have a shot at the NFL if it weren't for the CFL, their careers would be dead.  But if you owned or ran a company and an employee of yours came up to you and said they had an offer to make 10 times what you are paying them, would you really tell them no?

It's more likely that Desjardins ends up having to cut Glenn and get nothing for him than get a return like that.
 
Probably looking at getting a conditional pick in 2015 realistically, just a matter of how high it can go and what they'll be guaranteed if conditions aren't met (likely a 3rd or 4th rounder).
 
Ottawa is going to be one hell of a bad team, and they took themselves out of the market for any free agent with options the minute they signed Burris and screwed Glenn over.  Makes me wonder how the ownership feels about Desjardins already, and they haven't even opened a training camp yet.

I like his focus in this video, nothing distracts him ... 
 

I can't even listen to the call-in portion on CJOB.... I usually think "who are these people and have they ever watched football before?"

On principle alone I refuse to ever spell it all caps.... Redblacks is the best they're getting from me, maybe RedBlacks if I'm in a good mood

I like guys like Darrin Bauming and Kirk Penton. I may not always agree with their opinions, but it's still obvious that they actually follow the team and have some pride in their work. Ed Tait and Bob Irving are in that category as well.
 
I'd put Gary Lawless in a different category. I rarely agree with what he writes and I don't think he's a very good writer (blurs the lines between his job as a columnist and his job as a reporter far too often for my liking) but I still respect him because he puts in a good effort. He's just got a bit too much of an agenda for me.
 
Guys like Jim Bender, Paul Wiecek and Paul Friesen are just horrible. A quick review of anything they've ever written about the Bombers makes it obvious that they have pretty much zero understanding of anything related to football.

I can report that Friesen doesn't have a clue about anything. Sources say.

Dear Mike - please do not stop posting Bomber updates on Twitter. Without you I'd have to do real research and I hate football.

I don't like this new Ottawa franchise and it has nothing to do with Burris or Desjardins or anybody else in their football ops.
 
It is 110% because some dummy decided it'd be a good idea to call them the Redblacks. And then if that wasn't bad enough, somebody else said "hey, you know what'd be cool? If we YELLED IT EVERYTIME!"

Good for him.  Interesting to see if it leads to something bigger later.

I disagree with this.... the last thing this league needs is another failed Ottawa experiment... I think we're only 5 years away from being a 10 team league so Ottawa is critical to the process...
 
That being said, I really hope we wipe the floor with them in their first official CFL regular season game!

It would be nice to see him here in some capacity... he may even be able to contribute in a recruiting role... call up some guys we're coveting like Banks was doing.... not really sure if there's mutual interest but I think the fans would love to see him in the org...
