I'm leaning toward the opposite. Proulx is reffing, and in hindsight he has to be relieved the blown Duke Williams push-off/catch didn't affect the outcome of last week's game.

Also, all eyes will be on the CC. They absolutely have to be better.

Problem is I think I say this after every game. I have absolutely, positively no faith in the CC.

  2. Absolutely move the start of the season up. More games in warmer weather.

Less triple headers, play more games on Thurs-Fri-Sat instead. You'll get way more people watching (even briefly) with games split up. Most people aren't spending 9 hours on a Saturday watching a triple header.

Starting game times need to make sense for both the host city and national viewing. Sorry BC, we need to find a way to start games earlier if you want anyone outside BC to see it (maybe they need more Saturday games for earlier starts).

Simplify the Canadian, American and Global rules. Don't see the point of an experienced American being able to fill in for a Canadian.

Minimize one year contract usage. Allow for NFL opt outs. Buying jerseys with player names has become an exceedingly difficult task, and limits casual fans from forming bonds with players.

  3. Does anyone know why this year TSN has been responsible for overlaying the ads on the field? Tonight they're even doing it with the Lions logo. TSN screws up the LOS and first down marker at least five times a game, not sure why they've got more to add now. Just actually paint on the ads.

  4. If you're not going to have an early game, I really don't see the point in starting this one so late. Plus you've got to find a middle ground for the BC and Winnipeg viewers, especially for the kids. You're never going to grow the game when most of the country isn't going to watch a 9 pm CT start.  Other leagues don't have this problem because they've got so many games on in the 6/7 time slot, but when you've only got 3-4 games a week you can't really afford to limit your potential eyeballs.

Just go for it on every 3rd down instead of kicking from 35+ lol

In all seriousness though, I think Legghio may be good if he can get out of this slump. I would keep Crapigna too out of necessity despite his suckage, he is the best of a bad bunch, assuming his abilities remain the same post-injury.

I get having nerves, but last night Mourtada missed from areas that should be automatic... In a ghost town of a stadium. I can't imagine him kicking better on the road in a packed stadium, or dealing well with the weight of our own fanbase burdening him at home.

There is some truth to the bolded statement above.

I think O'Shea has unintentionally made our kicking situation worse, mostly by treating our kickers as if they are Justin Medlock. I'd like to see us be more aggressive and go for it on third down rather than attempt long field goals (unless in obvious situations).  Pick the kicker that is going to hit the most frequently from 40 yards and in. Accept the lower percentage on the >40 yard kicks, but in other situations go for it. Working off memory here, but I think we had Mourtada attempt a 50 yarder on 3rd and 2. I'd rather leave the offense out. There is plenty of NFL data showing that teams should be more aggressive and fourth and short distance downs when on fringe opponent territory. I'd feel comfortable assuming it would apply to third and short distance downs in the CFL where offenses are even more favoured.
