I love Sunday afternoon games, but I understand that other people enjoy the NFL.    I also like mid-week games, especially on the road.  I travel for business and this would allow me to catch many more away games live in person.  Starting the regular season before Canada Day wouldn't be my choice, as June is a busy month, and I've got a significant conflict on June 24, and won't be able to make the home opener this year.  None of this matters because:
The schedule isn't about me personally.
In the end, I choose to see the big picture and the positives.  We have a great game,  a great venue, a team that is actively working to improve, and an affordable ticket price.   The league has improved facilities in Ottawa, Hamilton, Toronto, and plans for Regina.  I'm excited to watch some football once the season starts.

Well count me as one who loves this move. Either we have success this year under Walters, or next year we cause the Rider fans heads to explode when we poach John Murphy away. This is so much more satisfying than if we had to get him from Calgary.

At any rate, I see this as a non starter because I don't think Murphy will be there long enough to have any tremendous impact before either us, or someone else in the league, poaches him away. He is the next GM in this league imo.

I can't this douchebag .. I've never seen anything positive come from him.  It's one thing to be critical when it's deserved .. but finding negativity in EVERY little thing the organization does it just too much.  It's like someone in the organization kicked his dog, slept with his wife .. pissed in his cornflakes all in the same day.

I think the Bombers should get credit for going out and getting their guy. People always blast them for being perceived as behind all the other teams. Everybody else is still looking for an OC and candidates are getting scratched off the list fast. Jackson declined chances to be an OC, Brady looks to be staying put, Edmonton needs to put a whole staff together and Ottawa will need an OC.

There is no OC the Bombers could've grabbed that would've made everyone happy. Maas (who isn't an option because the RedBlacks didn't let us talk to him and the Esks are likely going to hire him as HC) might have gotten the most positive response overall, but he still isn't incredibly proven. Jackson would've had detractors (inexperienced), Khari would've had detractors (not a lot of success in past OC roles), etc.

The fact is, LaPo was being considered for multiple OC positions -- and possibly a HC position -- across the CFL this off-season, and the Bombers got him. The last time he was an Offensive Coordinator, he was a success.

I have cautious optimism heading into the 2016 season with LaPo behind the offensive controls. I think with a healthy Willy and (here's hoping) some aggressive free agent acquisitions, perhaps our offense can match our performance on defense in the second half of 2015 and actually put forth a formidable team effort.

And if not, then we clean house at the end of 2016 and start fresh yet again. Yipee!

I could see the CFL implementing a few guidelines to deal with this situation in their upcoming meetings.  The Esks can probably survive the damage done but if there was ever a scenario were a strong franchise decimated a vulnerable franchise of their building blocks it would not be good for the CFL.

Interestingly when the CFL first implemented the expense cap it covered a much broader spectrum including scouting, coaching staff and administration, now only the players salaries are capped.

I hear what you are saying but I think that when you look at the available crop of OC's out there, the pickings weren't abundant.  Factor in the fact that O'Shea knows that this hire has to absolutely be solid, or it's the last one he's going to get to do here and you can understand why he went with LaPolice.

some of these posts are laughable.

He was the most qualified and experienced guy available. The rest were/are unknowns and lacking experience.

Heck..let's give Maas a few more consecutive years of success to say we say he is so great. He came out of know where and truth be told was reaping the rewards of all the guys on his squad having career years together and the fact had zero injuries all year long to affect his offence.

And when it came down to it in the playoffs they got pretty much shut down and he had no answers.

Lapo has had years now since he was a sole OC and you can be assured he has progressed and learned and knows what didn't work and what does. He has spent the better part of two years now dissecting and analyzing defenses and how offences should attack, and what offensives shouldn't do based on looks. He has come a long way and it is noticeable from what he is saying.

He is going to build a very competent attacking offence and the naysayers will be put to rest. He is the best available option and we got aggressive and grabbed him. Well done if you ask me

The scouting needs to step up. Walters himself has done a good job. It's the scouts that really haven't. Active in free agency? Check. Signing guys to extensions? Check. Trades to help the team? Check.
The scouting tho has really only produced bass and j adams. Not good enough
Spencer Davis looked good last game of the season but he wasn't being used as a receiver. Jury out on him but looks to have potential but still 3 maybe 4 guys if you include Justin Cole... not good enough.

I renewed my season tickets and I'm excited to do so.   I've been around long enough to know that that there are ups and downs and that things will turn around.  I'm keeping the faith.   I honestly believe that the loyal fans enjoy the ups more than the bandwaggon jumpers because they know what the downs feel like.

"I hope so, it's got to be a bit embarrassing for the League".
I have been to only 2 Grey Cup festivals, 2011 in BC and this one. I will say this festival is far superior to 2011 and that is with my team playing in 2011. I have volunteered at this one and seen large crowds of happy people at the street festival (indoor and outdoor) and the Convention Centre. The "fan experience" at U of W was pretty great. I have really taken it in....concerts, interactive things, etc.
Lol, now I am pretty negative about Winnipeg, it being behind the times/unprogressive/blah blah blah, but anyone who calls this Grey Cup "embarrassing for the league " clearly doesn't get it but more acurately is probably just searching for yet another reason to crap on the Blue Bombers.
    Fantastic festival. Great job Winnipeg!

I think Lapo realizes if he stays out of the coaching game too long he ain't getting back in and as his wife and kids live in Wpg. it's a good fit for him.

I have no opinion whether he is the best choice for OC or not but I'm confident he will be better than the last guy cause he just couldn't possibly be worse.

I wish they had punted MB midseason so we(I) would have a better idea how much was bad coaching and how much was lack of talent.Right now this seems like a deep dark hole we are in.

I just don't understand what good it does to piss and moan. It's all good...perfectly within your rights to do it, I'm just saying I don't see the need for it and don't gain anything from it. So many on here  have become completely irrational and just negative for the sake of being negative. It serves no purpose, other than to make this board virtually unreadable...

Basically its all speculation including the original story. There are a host of possibilities many of which have been mentioned and many we haven't thought of.I think (speculation again) Wade is VERY worried about the effects of this season on ticket sales.Apathy is settling in concerning the Bombers in Manitoba and personally I think thats worse than anger. If Wade steps on toes either in league or in house to try and correct things, so be it.If he wants an assistant coach who can take over from MOS if we struggle in the 1st 8 games so be it.MB shouldhave been sshipped out when we still had a legitimate shot at correcting the ship.Time to push, and maybe he is pushing.

I'm a huge fan of Henoc Muamba....as a player and who he was off the field in the community. But with that said, they're talking about a lot of money that could be spent better, I think. If they'd done it, I'd be cool with that, but as others have said, I'm not all that torn up about him signing elsewhere (bonus if it's an East team like the Als!)

Nothing but respect for Henoc and wish him the best of luck. As others have said, Hurl has been getting better all the time, our LB corps is our best asset and we could use that money in other spots that are more important...

Oshea just said on CJOB coaches show that the offense needs to start coming out of halftime with "better adjustments". This tells me MB is gone.
Oshea then complemented the D on its good halftime adjustments. Shutting down Cornish in second half was his example.
