It's bad...it's Trudeau. If I was inhouse I'd tell him he's got 1-2 years left.

Speaking of the day. they totally f'd it up by not renaming Victoria Day to Truth and Reconciliation Day.

Not a bad idea. I've never heard it suggested.

Here is Stefanson’s Twitter statement on vaccines. As a further FYI, when she was health minister she took an extended leave of absence for a medical matter - a surgery is all I know - hence her lack of visibility during the second and third wave.

Don't like it. How hard is it to say " We will follow the Drs advice when I'm Premier "

This is basically what I've heard from her as well. Unfortunately flip-flopping on vaccine requirements and restrictions is better than outright campaigning against vaccine mandates. There's no way I would have ever thought I would have wished Goertzen would be our premier longer. It makes me wonder how many people are holding out on getting vaccines until we get a new premier.

I dont know alot about her or her flip flops but in my mind it depends on the flip flop. If let's say she was originally  against mandates or vaccine passes then using evidence and science changes her mind to support that it's OK. In fact a leader that can weigh evidence and be willing to admit they were wrong and change their position is good. But as I say I'm not in tune with what her position was.

  4. Over %80 of the population agrees with vaccines and  masks and the vast majority of that %80 agrees with current restrictions. If the PCs want any hope of being elected in the next election their selection of leader and that leaders behavior post nomination must reflect that. The real question is can/did the party control or stop the anti everythings from joining and blowing things up by voting for Glover.

  5. We have no idea if this was a one off mistake for Kenny Lawler or if he indeed suffers from AUD and needs help. I will also point out that in all likelihood 1 in 8 (or probably more because we are mostly male)  on this forum will have AUD . I feel bad for the guy. From such a high point to such a low. Life is about to get ugly for him for a while. I wish him all the best.

I'm worried that we see another surge after Thanksgiving like last year.

On the personal/selfish note, I'd just like to be able to go to the gym, eat out, see a movie in a theatre over the winter.

It's not selfish at all. It's why we all try to follow the good Dr's rules. So we can do those things and keep as many people healthy as we can.

  7. One of the worst tax dodges is that big corporations are allowed to move money out of the country  where it was generated and into countries that have little to no tax . They are then allowed to bring it back into the original country because the taxes are paid even though those taxes were a fraction of a percent  or even 0 percent.  Even the G8 were trying to close that loop hole. I don't believe they did though.

Anyone expecting the (literal) diehard anti-vaxxers to change their minds will be disappointed. They are so invested in their beliefs that contracting COVID or even dying is unlikely to move them. There are two kinds of donkeys- those you can lead with a carrot and those you must drive with a stick.

And those that you can't drive with a stick and aren't worth the feed you put in them so you just .....never  mind I don't go there.

Stanley is the Colony region more so I believe so I can understand their unwillingness.. they are a somewhat segregated community. Good people but yup not gonna change their views.

Winkler? I don't get that one... thought they were a bit smarter tho. Guess not.

I was kind of the same. I thought they had " grown up " since my youth when I worked in the area.  Apparently I was wrong.

Surely looking at the numbers and it's 90 percent southern district that u gotta think ppl will eventually see and notice WTF.. how are we more than Winnipeg.  I mean eventually u gotta realize that being vaxxed means less cases. This isn't just a Manitoba thing either. Places with low vaxx rates = more cases. Places with higher = less.  It's just a fact

I don't think they will face it. I have an acquatence who had Covid. Her daughter's got it. Their children got it. She ended up in Boundary Trails hospital. She got worse. She was airlifted to ICU in Brandon. But she got lucky , survived and got to come home. Now here is the shocking part. She denies she had Covid . She says she just had bad pneumonia.

I think all the sweet talk, rationalization,  coercing, rules, shutdowns, sickness and death.........will never sway that core group in Stanley.
