I think its much more mechanical. Its like a pitchers delivery and release. Except you need basically flawless mechanics every time.

Mental issues can ruin any player in any sport. And staying consistent through long droughts of not kicking, even with in a game is tough. But that is never an issue with QBs who come in off the bench or who go a long stretch with out a possession/many passes.

Ive played with kicking, but I wasnt a real kick at any level. Ive done muay thai and kicking arts extensively and I can tell you ive seen peoples kicking mechanics fall apart over minor tightness and all kinds of minor technique issues.

Watching soo many of Mourtadas clips, he practices trying to make field goals while kicking off. The tee, the holder, his approach, empty fields, and always from right down the middle. Its like a kick off. Which is why he excels at kicking off soo much. In a kick off you have no timer, you can take as comfortable a stride as you like. Kicking a field goal, you have to cover a very precise distance, with an exact number of steps, in a small time window. All of that is stuff he didnt seem to practice.

His approach looks uncomfortable to me. And he looks un sure of every kick he launches. But never surprised when he misses. I really dont think he knows mechanically how to reliably kick and adjust to different spots on the field. He only seems comfortable with the xpt, which is right down the middle.

It isnt really a surprise, he's only kicked a little bit in the IFL as a pro, didnt have a full college career, and what he had ended a very long time ago. He's old, lacks experience, and has tremendous leg strength. Weaker leg guys arent trying to hit 60 yard fgs every day, they are trying to figure out how to hit from every angle, and mastering their mechanics.

First off I readily admitt I have never kicked a field goal in my life. You obviously havd a far greater knowledge in that department than I do and that was a great reply. But I will use your example of martial arts because I have been at that for 20 years.. When teaching my students the 1st thing I teach is correct form and technique in a particular kick. Then over time it's building muscle memory while using that proper form. So eventually it's just instinct. But then enters the mental part.  People do develop bad habits over time that need correcting. Also you train them correctly but when they go into competition it's just not there. They might have a beautiful roundhouse in training but when they spar they just can't get if off. After 20 years it still surprises me who thrives at sparring and who doesn't.

But back to kicking football's, once someone has learned the technique ( and at this level ,you would think that should be a given ) I would have thought it was pretty much entirely his inability to perform in the heat of action. If you are right and it is technique and knowledge of kicking from different hashmarks then he has no business in Pro ball in my opinion. Thanks for the great response by the way , those were great observations.

  2. In my mind kicking field goals is % 90 mental. If he can't get his head straightened out and deal with the pressure in regular season games on a team that does nothing but win regardless of the kicking game  what is going to happen if the Grey Cup is on the line and he needs to kick the winner with seconds on the clock ? I know what the answer to that is right now.

If the Provence thinks that people in the Southern area are going to isolate they are dumber than I thought, they don't care about Covid most probably don't think it's real and for sure they won't be isolating.

I guess they have to keep trying but the ones that are breaking the rules now aren't going to follow more rules. But I commend them for trying. Personally I'd keep hammering them in the pocketbook. Bump up enforcement.  I think it's the only way to get through to them and at least it targets the ones who are the real problem.

Who cares? Can't coddle the feeble minded sheep.

Those sheep are extremely well armed.  And some of those sheep belong to the military and their never ending levels of police forces. There is already background noise about separating red and blue states. I don't see any reason to think it would be any less violent than last time they did that. The big difference in  my opinion is that it will effect the rest of the planet far, far more.

Can they avoid it ? Sure, but so far they continue to push it past the tipping point.

He and others, it's all the rage right now in America who can be the worst human being possible and it's being actively cheered.

F-ing disgusting . Where is the sympathy for the officers that were wounded, suffered PTSD  and died defending their nations democratic institutions  ?  She was killed while commiting a violent, treasonous  crime. I have no sympathy for her.  Its a sick and dieing nation.

Megachurch With Ferrari-Driving Pastor Gives Back $4.4M Pandemic Loan

A Houston megachurch, whose celebrity pastor is reportedly worth $50 million, has repaid the federal government $4.4 million in pandemic loans after going viral for the outrageous handout.

Lakewood Church, which is tax-exempt like most religious institutions, took $4.4 million in taxpayer-funded Paycheck Protection Program loans at the height of the COVID pandemic last year—all while senior pastor Joel Osteen flaunted his insane wealth. It caused “Osteen” and “Ferrari” to trend on social media as observers questioned the institution’s need for such a huge payout.

Osteen reportedly owns a $300,000 Ferrari and a $10.5 million mansion, and has been photographed traveling in style on a luxury jet. Meanwhile, he has made appearances on the Today Show, urging people to not “focus on what [they] have or don’t have.”

Lakewood, believed to be the biggest church in the U.S. with an average weekly attendance of 45,000, shut down in-person services last year and told the Houston Business Journal they had to go months without the “ability to collect substantial donations.”

They insisted none of the PPP money went to Osteen or his wife, both of whom allegedly do not receive a salary from the church, and called the loan crucial “during such a time of need.” The money provided the church with “short-term financial assistance” to ensure their 368 employees would “continue to receive a paycheck and full health care benefits,” a church spokesperson said.

Thousands of other religious institutions received up to $7.8 billion in PPP loans, according to some tallies.

The entire time I read that I kept thinking back to the anti-masker who told me "Jesus didn't wear a mask".  But apparently the donkey he rode on was named Ferrari

I believe this is what rebusrankin is referring to. Scary.

I think we're screwed if either get in and it such BS that most Manitobans don't get to pick the next premier, especially when the stakes are so high, the party is wildly unpopular and the former leader quit in the middle of a pandemic(despite saying he wouldn't) without a reason. I believe Stefanson would be the better choice, but that's more that I think/hope she is just appealing to the unvaccinated as an election strategy and would be more likely to actually follow expert advice.

Its very unfortunate that both candidates are basing a large part of their campaign to appeal to a small minority of the unvaccinated Manitobans, because they are a large contingent in one political party. They are both aware most Manitobans support vaccine requirements.

She basically said she would oppose a lockdown if public health experts advised it. "We can't afford to do it for small and medium sized businesses"

Her implicit position is - be willing to die and have health care go to sh** for the economy. Think short-term and appease those who are unhappy with vaccine mandates. There's no way this message would elect her if all Manitobans had a vote at a time when we've seen how this approach works in Alberta and Sask and we've been told we should be expecting the 4th wave to grow here.

My hope is Stefanson has to take this stance to keep Glover out and will support proper Covid measures when she is in. It may be ugly politics but she may have no choice. If she strongly comes out in support of restrictions there is a good chance the covidiots will take over the party and we could end up with a Kenny like disaster.. I just hope the sensible group in the PCs are still in control and playing ugly but smart politics. We are screwed if they aren't.

As far as our system , leaders have always stepped out and been replaced that way both Federal and Provincial.  We can't change it because we don't like the circumstances or the system will collapse like our neighbors to the south. The Republicans don't like the results so they are twisting and bending the system to suit there particular  bent and twisted view.

Since it's the month of spooky, maybe we should try some mad scientist stuff here....if we dissect Mourtadda, Legghio,Crapigna, stitch random parts back together then we may finally have a kicker.BRAINS......OUR KICKERERS NEEDS BRAIIINSSSS

You know that whole Frankenstein 's monster bit didn't work out to well the 1st  time right ?

  9. Osh is a pretty loyal guy and a bit slow to change but that was extremely painful to watch and hopefully he has had enough. Personally I would send him home, give it to Leggio and start trying to bring in a established kicker. If Legs starts hitting between the uprights regularly before that happens then stick with him. He seems to have corrected alot if his punting woes so maybe he can do the same on his place kicking now.
