  1. Apparently I'm in the minority but I think Walters did pretty darn good for this one.  Hall was a goner - and the rest of the league knew it.  Giving up the second rounder sucks, but they clearly think this linemen is at least decent.

Walters got value (Neufeld) for very little (essentially a second round pick).

I agree totally. As well there is no reason we can't resign Hall next year if he does not catch on in the NFL.Well done Walters.

if you actually believe there is a chance Hall re-signs here you're insane. Why come back to this place after he gets a taste of a winning team?  No as soon as you trade him you ain't getting him back.

    Guess I'm insane.

  3. Oh here we go with the lawless bashing. I guess his article wasn't as good as all of your articles in mainstream media. Oh right. I wish people would get a grip about lawless. Really shows a lot of insecurity and stupidity with all the attacks.

Clearly lawless out forth an argument meant to stir discussion. And I agree. I don't care of Henoc does want to come back if you can get a legit number one QB for him you do it. No one is safe when it comes to getting a QB.

I agree. I think he is wrong about BLM but the theory behind it is sound. If we were going to lose Henoc why not shop him.If I am a team challenging for the cup and end up losing a starting Canuck I would be willing to trade a backup QB especially if there is a risk of losing him.As far as the Lawless hate it is silly.Sure he swings and misses sometimes but He hits more often than not.He can be a bit of a dog with a bone like he was with Mack but was he wrong? He was the 1'st one talking about the disfunction within the Bombers, about walters wanting to draft Edam, about being offered Glenn and I believe the 1'st talking about Rielly.
  4. Idon't get why people think there are loads of players waiting to come here.It takes time to find them and 9 times out of 10 time to develop them.I think Boltus was a good pick up in a desperate situation. He was around long enough to learn the game abit but really never got his good shot..As far as the recievers according to Burke we had recievers missing their blocks not anything I noticed but then I wouldn't and take Burke at his word. There will be players available after NFL regular starts but lots will hang for a while hoping to get on.This team is in a desperate state but it whlle take awhile to repair.I really think Walters will beat the bushes to get what he can and has a shot at being our permanent GM.

meh this team asks receivers to block a lot when they are not suited to it. There is a lot of misusing players going on. It goes back to the lack of identity this team has. They've been trying to run things that they aren't suited for rather than tailoring things to what they actually do well for a long time now. Running plays like Montreal does works great when you have Richardson and Green as your slotbacks, not so much when it's Edwards and Denmark.
Perhaps but I thought it was pretty common depending on the play.

  6. Unless they actually hire their new GM right away it just leaves the team rudderless for the rest of the year. It's not going to fix things right now, you're just going to have a harder time making changes during the season because you lost a very connected guy in the football world who always did seem to bring in some quality players midseason. There was no harm to be done sticking with Mack until the offseason. He wasn't going to go crazy and throw picks and players away on magic beans and leave a smoking crater like Kelly did so might as well have just waited until the offseason.

I think if walters preforms at all you are looking at our new GM. Mack may have been connected in the south but he had deficiencies in that department North of the border.Agree to disagree I guess.
  7. cause next season we get a new GM and new head coach and likely a hell of a lot of new faces, chances of a totally new bunch having immediate success is slim to none. GIven the drama around the team right now can't expect anything to get turned around this year, so no playoffs this year. That's a year and a half. Always happens when you fire people midseason. you waste the rest of the current season and the next one.

But that's why you are better to do all this now.The team was obviously dysfunctional, so start to fix it now and be rolling for next year.Find out who is naughty and who is nice now, the heck with waiting till christmas.I think the dispersal draft changed thetime frame on any rebuild efforts.
  8. You see? You see what happens when you fire the GM midseason? You throw the entire rest of the year and next year into the toilet completely. All for the price of millions of dollars in salaries for people to not work for you and empty seats in the stadium.

How do you equate the hurt feelings of a young man who put up a mediocre performance to a year and of a half of disaster? Just asking.
  9. My suspicion is there are board members who prefered to not fire Mack till the end of the season .So you leak the info to make it public and force the rest of the boards hand.Poorly handled? A little underhanded? Yup! But what is done is done and this was inevitable to all but the blind.. Lets move on and hope we finaly roll the GM dice correctly.

  10. you know what part of the issue is? In years past even if the team sucked you knew that you could always count on a guy like MIlt Stegall to do something to get you out of your seat. Don't have a guy like that anymore. Edwards used to be able to be a very very poor mans version but he's no spring chicken himself and not really able to be that guy anymore and none of the young guys have stepped up. Had hopes Denmark could become something but he seemed to stagnate, Matthews is have a really inconsistent year so far. Simpson can't do it all on his own when the passing game is such a let down.

Very true.We really are missing those amazing talents who made you stand up and yell. There are still lots of those dominating talents in the CFL, just not on the BB.If I was on the board of directors this thread would scare the hell out of me.Some of the most dedicated BB fans now sounding rather apathetic. This team cannot afford to turn fans off and lose them at the turnstiles.
  11. BIG no to Tillman on his record, both football, moral, and legal. As far as cutting Mac midseason it could happen if it is obvious he is gone anyways. Having a lame duck GM benifits no one.We need to have someone really on the ball for the expansion draft which I believe happens immediately after the Greycup.I don't see that being Mac if he knows he is getting cut or a new GM within days of a hire.Bad or rushed decisions at that time could devastate us.just as a rushed decision on a rehire now (Tillman) could. One of the alternatives would be to insert Walters as a interm GM.As far as Lawless I heard multple suggestions including ODay, the assistant GM from BC and Walters himself.I have thought since the beginning 2and6 or 2 and 8 and the axe falls. There are alot of peoples jobs riding on Mr Goltz's shoulders.
