230k? Wow. He really wanted to stay here. We love you Dalton.

Hurts less when you have a guy in waiting. I have high expectations for Richmond

I wonder if we’d consider bede actually. Great year last year as a kicker, can do all 3 jobs, biggest leg and best kick off guy in the league. Sergio is a better kicker, but bede might be cheaper. I’d really love to see a consolidation of the 3 jobs, even if it’s a di for all 3. But we really need to improve punting and kick offs.
Be hilarious if we re signed legs. The head explosions around here would be epic.Bede can change a game with his leg. Would be worth it as a DI. Castillo, while a great FG kicker, is not a punter and is a pretty average kickoff guy.

I'm a huge fan of Tim White. Could be a good fit here if Schoen is the guy everyone else is targeting.

not worked up....just parlaying my point how it surely shouldnt have been a priority signing...and just stagnates the roster....again
time to move away from decent...and ok....to next level, or the heir to be a next level...mediocrity and a handful of "just decent" guys on roster hasn't produced lately....and don't throw reg season record out there as a yeah but...well balanced and deep rosters, not wiped out from the season has beat us last 2 grey cups....with lesser records...Thats what won us Grey Cups the 2 yrs in a row...clinging and not moving on from some of that balance and deepness, with new...younger...hungrier bodies hasn't panned out....and we still clinging to some it seems....I sure we may purge a few....but are they they right ones to purge....and are we keeping some who should have been in the purge?
If we are matching pound for pound backup Canadian DT with other teams in the league, is Jake Thomas really the issue? I think there was some issue with the amount of reps he got last year. I can't imagine that he signed on this year to be the starter. But his passport and his ability to play at a veteran level is valuable.
The way I look at it is Lawson is going to be the Canadian on the line and we will get good value from Thomas. We could be looking at bringing kongbo back to rotate which may leave Thomas as the third.
Im all for moving on from Americans because the pool of talent to replace them is vast. Dumping Canadians who can still play...

If it's a reasonable salary and he's backing up Lawson then I'm fine with it. He's still a decent Canadian player

Curious what people think about Brandon Barlow at DE. 26, with the Argos last year had 30 tackles and 9 sacks while rotating. Could he be a younger, cheaper option at DE over Jeffcoat?
Those are some really nice numbers especially if he was rotating.

Bailey would be an option too. I just really can't see us wanting to be on the hook for half a million dollars between two receivers. Defense wins championships and our offense is set to be a bit more dynamic with Streveler the leveler coming back

I’d be upset with this. Whitehead can’t stay healthy and he has lot a step.
I agree on the injury front. But I think he's only gotten better as a receiver since he was here. And he will still stretch defenses... Which is something that we don't have a lot of in our receiving core
-
I'd be going for Whitehead at just over Bane money instead of Schoen at Lawler money. We have Lawler. We have Demski. We have Woli. Whitehead is super versatile and could fit back in here very well. Then you have a training camp battle for the last spot.

Really expecting Strevelers contract to max out around 300k. I'm actually surprised his base salary is so low.

Question: Would an offer to Chris Streveler have to be registered with the CFL/CFLPA during the negotiation window? For example, if Bombers or Lions or any other CFL team makes an offer to Streveler between Feb 4-11 would that offer have to be shared with every other team in the same way as a regular offer to 2023 rostered free agents? Or would an offer to Streveler (since he was not on any CFL roster last season) not fall under those rules? If not, then there's nothing preventing any CFL club from making a quiet offer to him at any time, right? https://www.cfl.ca/2024/01/27/free-agency-negotiation-window-opens-feb-4/
The negotiation window does not apply to Streveler. He has been a CFL free agent for a couple years now. The negotiation window is for players who are still under contract. Teams have already been negotiating with Streveler and can sign him any time.

Neufeld, Eli, Dobson, gray. Boom done.
I don't see Gray signed. He wasn't a world beater and who knows what is going on with him. Seems like the kind of guy that has a future outside of football and may be taking it. My guess is that we had money set aside for kolo/gray with a timeline and this is what happened.
-
The one thing I'll say is that people have taken our o line depth for granted. I wasn't a particular fan of kolo but we will need at least 4 Canadians that can play. Kolo can play
-
Strev is worth more to us right now. Don't think we would be spending that much on Strev in hard money , but I can definitely see a performance/incentive laden contract in case Zach gets put on the 6 game at some point.

Augustine is your backup RB and special teamer. He's got some great tools - speed mainly. He can gash you if he gets a hole. He's no joke. But not the greatest blocker and I don't think teams are game-planning for him.

Brady may learn that there isn’t as much money to be out there as he thinks. RB isn’t much different here compared to the NFL with regards to how replaceable they are. Wearing a Winnipeg jersey has just as much value to Brady as it does to the Bombers and I’m sure his agent will remind him of that.
All his charitable causes get a big boost in awareness and visibility because he’s in town.
Extremely good points

that was before Strev came back in equation....I can see Schoen and Strev in at expense of BO...Prukop..and now Brown,
Yeah I can see that. Ottawa may have been in the running for Strev. This essentially puts them out of it.
Also, as pointed out, the negotiation window for Ottawa is a lot smaller than it would have been if they had him earlier so hence the lower value.
To me it just comes down to timing and I think to an extent we blew it a bit.

At this point any return is better than none.
At this point sure. Still kind of surprised it's only A 5th. Doesn't seem like we got the most return we could have if we traded him earlier. Damn

Don’t say it like a bad thing. That’s the best case scenario.
LOL never meant it to be. It was an explanation as to how we might not spend quite as much on QBs

Both Brady and Schoen back. Didn't think it was possible but dammit it feels so right.
