  1. Appreciate all the x and o talk and the candor from folks on the board. I also appreciate Jordan Younger and our defense for making all of this talk possible.
  2. I guess I wasn't clear. Id much rather see a team where the offense is sputtering and the defense is getting the ball back over and over. It was more of a hypothetical. I agree our offense has been very good
  3. Just got back from the game. I can almost live with a sputtering offense. But watching that defense was painful for me. Crazy that we thought they would be the strong part of our team this year. Putrid.
  4. The Rifles would be beating us right now. I've never seen a defense play so slow and indecisive. Tony Jones looks fast out there in comparison.
  5. Blitz near the goal line and we aren't playing close to the receivers? Something ain't right.
  6. Defense just didn't look like they could play fast out there. Defensive packages too complicated? I dunno. Offensively we did alright. I am starting to get a bit worried about collaros though. His throws are starting to look like lobs.
  7. Does that leave Sheahan as our only global player? Weird
  8. Dante Daniels would be Logan Stanley of the Bombers.
  9. Kind of annoying that we had 300 chances to draft Cenacle and he went off and had 111 yards and 2 TDs against us.
  10. Could be that Dru comes home after Zach's retirement..kind of like a lot of us envisioned. But who knows
  11. This lineup is definitely set up for competition for those last few roster spots. And then just getting our backup QBs more time.
  12. A preseason game is a chance to put out some more recent film. There's certain positions where you need to see that. But it's just part of the evaluation. It's not about results either, it's about seeing what you're like when you line up against other guys that are trying to stop you. Remember Josh Bishop (a receiver we had in TC) that had a few long catches but was then cut and he went on to trash the team (fair or not), sign with the Argos (I think) and generally did nothing after that? Just because a DB blew a coverage does not make you the next big receiver.
  13. Both backup QBs showed glimpses. I liked Perkins as 2nd string game 1. He looked much more confident; did a good job moving around despite the pressure and generally looked more CFL ready. Elgersma certainly has the raw tools and showed good accuracy. I think we can be a bit patient with him. But who knows what preseason game 2 will hold. Should we legitimately be looking at Andrews for the punter position? Those punts were massive. And good positions too.
  14. Brady wasn't getting a lot either. Sask is pretty good at mucking up the middle. Certainly isn't going to improve much over the course of this season. He did make some nice throws down field into tight spots. Probably speaks to his accuracy and quick decisions more than anything.
  15. I think it will be interesting this year with Condell in the mix when it comes to pre season QB deployment. I think he will have more of the reigns to decide that himself. Perhaps we see less of Zach in preseason because of it.
  16. Team looks much better on paper across the board from last year. I think there's a lot of roster nitpicking going on, which is completely fair, but preemptive. The sky is not falling.
  17. We are doing better than last year. Pokey and White are a huge improvement over Wheatfall and a broken Schoen. Week 5 (I think) it was Wheatfall and Cody Case, Sterns...the big thing for this year is that Demski can be our #3 receiver. But your point still stands, though a bit preemptive: we need to find new game breaking receivers. Looks like Frederickson and Singer are making plays in camp. But in general, it's been shown time and time again that us fans miss who is really looking good. I wouldn't be surprised if we pick up another teams cuts, maybe at receiver or depth o line as an insurance policy.
  18. I've boarded the hype train
  19. You mean Juran Bolden 2.0
  20. Denmark was so smooth in his route running. Just got open.
  21. Any receivers jumping off the page at camp at all?
  22. Demski, Nield, Corcoran, Clercius, Cobb...and then MCI and Daniels if we stop going 5 WR for the rest of the game. I think there's depth there to run 3 Canadians from that group. But the question is the talent. Demski is the only difference maker from that group...and he's getting older...the rest are hopefuls and role guys. So I'm definitely concerned as well RE: putting out enough weapons for Zach. Unless those Canadians take big steps we are really leaning on Brady and our two top-end receivers in White and Wilson.
  23. He did absolutely nothing because he was injured/done...not because of the system. Stats-wise last year was Nield's best year by far with ~500 yards. He's 27. He could continue his upward trajectory. Would be amazing if he put up 600-700 yards this year.
  24. Just curious from those who pay attention. Between Tim White, Pokey Wilson, Demski we have 1, 2 and 3. Is Tommy Nield a 3a/3b to Demski at this point? Or is he clearly a 4/5 type of guy?
  25. Yeah I get that. Also true. Maybe it's that **** out get off the pot moment that I'm seeing where a guy that is supposed to take that next step doesn't. You put him in the 1s in practice and say "this is your opportunity" and if they can't do it then they bring in the next guy. Feel like it was that way with Myron Mitchell last year. So not exactly established veterans, more guys that have been around a bit and need to prove themselves to be a full time starter.
