Total cash grab. If it's genuinely about safety, why isn't the reduced speed around parks not attached to schools, around day cares, around elementary schools on Ellice and Sargeant. if it's genuinely about safety, the flashing lights, whenever they go on, are way more effective than simply another sign. But it's about money and not about actual safety, as we can all plainly see.

I’m actually glad they had the balls to go there. Plus Arya is a much more “earned” female hero.

I sort of expect the series to end with Sansa in power (maybe not queen, but the seven kingdoms having their own autonomy).   Jon probably dies, sacrificing himself to take out dany (seems Arya would be the one to kill her though).

Tyrion lives only to be taken out by Bronn (or we get a scene of bronn living the good life at high garden ).

I don't know who gets close enough to Dany to kill her, unless it's Arya with Grey Worm's face or something. She has zero trust in anyone around her. Maybe Jon has a connection with Drogon that could be exploited to get the opportunity.

I keep going back to Ramsey's line which was basically," if you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention". Also the concept of history and cyclical nature of history. She didn't break the wheel, she was just the next part of it, finishing what the Mad King didn't.

I don't think Tyrion can now pay his debt to Bronn, so either Bronn gets him or Dany does.

  3. I think they've hinted at the Mad Queen angle throughout, but it didn't feel genuine or earned, as they've kind of rushed the last couple of seasons and lost those gradual connections. You could tell she was unhinged by Jon's real bloodline, which was the clearest threat to her power. She compensated by going over the top with the fear and violence. Everyone around her betraying her, dying, or their capabilities being questioned (Tyrion). Normally that would have been built up more than just other characters mentioning they did not trust her.

Another part that felt lost was Cersei. She didn't have much to do, and I expected her to have a trick or two up her sleeves, she's smarter than letting them roll right through Kings landing unabated. Wildfire, booby traps, using the confined spaces to their advantage. Even the plans she had like the scorpions were useless all of a sudden. All in the name of rushing through the final of the story, where excellent pacing used to be a hallmark of the show.

The preview for next week shows that they still have both dragons. Cersei's answer is those giant crossbows that Qyburn had made.  The producers added the crossbows to the intro scene - firing a bolt into a dragon skull, so I'm assuming that they will play a factor in the battle as they like to drop hints in there.

Well, we got our answer to that one. I figured we'd see more of the scorpion when they realized it worked against the dragons at the loot train, but that was brutal.

I never really liked Daenerys, but I like her character arc and the whole concept of power earned (Jon) vs. power by perceived right (her). Someone needs to tell her she's not nearly as smart or determined as Cersei, or her arrogance and stubbornness are going to get everyone killed. her arrogance thinking she is going to be the best ruler, but now willing to do whatever it takes and kill innocents also goes against her "freer of chains" title.

I wonder if Cersei has any more wildfire left after blowing up the Scept of Baelor, and how that will play out. Does  Daenerys walk through the wildfire and earn some street cred with Westeros, or does someone whack her from within? I think if we lose Drogon (which I think we will, to close out the story loop), her usefulness goes way downhill.

  5. Loved last night's episode, though I think there a few flaws that will become more apparent once it sinks in. It's been that way the last couple of seasons though

    Questions to discuss;

    1. where was bran warging?
    2. If Beric played out his reason to be revived (saving Arya) , did the hound as well, or has he got another part to his story?
    3. Is Cersei sailing to Winterfell to pounce on the North before they recover? (episode 4 preview)
    4. Those that survived- what is there end story? Assuming they didn't survive just have a happy ending. I expect they have a role to play in the future.

I've read a lot of the complaints about the episode, and much is usual internet complaining, but the only two real complaints I have are that it was too dark, and that not enough characters died for the size of the battle. As for the darkness, I will rewatch with my contrast adjusted. The second is that too many characters survived. You can't tell me that Sam , who can't fight, survived being at the first point of attack , along with Grey Worm, Jamie, Brienne, etc. Ghost as well. We saw with Shaggydog that a hoard can easily overrun a direwolf, but Ghost somehow survived.

This seems like a pretty big story.

    https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/ethiopian-airlines-plane-crash/h_9e291bb50cb99c1c2afa3363a4c65518

Several aviation authorities have grounded the Boeing 737 Max 8, one of the newest and most advanced airplanes.  None of the North American authorities have done so though.  Lots of talk on news shows with experts answering "if you were scheduled to fly the Max 8 today, would you get on the plane".  I wonder how many people have cancelled.

I have a flight scheduled in May on the Max 8 (pretty far out so could change) and I was pretty excited to fly on that plane.

Sounds like the suspicions are about a safety feature that sees the plane's automation control "angle of attack" to prevent stalling.  A sensor may be malfunctioning and causing the system to enter a dive to regain speed to prevent a stall.  There were cases of pilots receiving contradictory readings and not realizing they're in a stall so this system would, I guess, help with that.  The obvious thing would be for pilots to be able to disengage the system to avoid a nose-dive but I read that many pilots were not fully trained in the use of this system and what could happen if it malfunctions.

I recently flew in the 737 max 8, and absolutely loved it. The amount of overhead space was way more than any other plane I've been on, the seats were super comfy, and the entertainment system upgraded.

    Totally worth the risk!  ;)
