I posted a few before that I think sold some folks on going to the place.   It's a good place we've never had bad food in many visits

You guys and Jonesys are going to be the death of me!

So had had to make a trip out that way for work today. Thought I'd stop in and grab something to go. Had a burger, and it was one of the best I've ever had. I'm into burger that pays attention to the patty used, not just piling on a variety of toppings and calling it a day. I think I might have to make another excuse for the almost 40 km trip one way.

Dallas Fire Battalion Chief Suggests Black Lives Matter Protesters Should Be Lynched

A Dallas Fire-Rescue battalion chief is under investigation—but still employed—after suggesting on social media that Black Lives Matter protesters should be lynched. “No ****...we need to find out who’s behind this and find a good tree to use!” Allan Springer wrote on Facebook, in response to photos of brick palettes seen at a demonstration. Dallas Fire Fighters Association President Capt. Jim McDade decried Springer’s racist comment, writing in response, “Sorry chief but that is unbelievably offensive and inappropriate. I respect you as a BC and a firefighter but I’m appalled. Feel free to delete me, call me out, or do whatever you want.” A spokesperson for Dallas Fire-Rescue told WFAA that Springer, who oversees at least 60 people, is now under investigation, “by the department’s Internal Affairs Division to determine the necessary course of action going forward.”

It's amazing how free speech only applies to those when they have the same opinion as you.  Protest lockdowns is OK, but others- "lynch 'em"

This is pretty comical... And the vandalism sure looks staged: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/tuxedo-village-restaurant-vanadalized-racist-facebook-post-1.5606711

Seems like Bermax all over again. Only this owner comes across as quite the woke ******.

That was my first thought too, that it was staged or someone trying to make the movement look bad.. What's with the hammer and sickle?

Crazy what's been going on in the US for 400 years. A revolution is coming. It's clear from the top on down that it's the only way to change the system.

Kneel and you're called a ******. The President threatens you. The VP does a publicity stunt to rile the racist base.

Protest and the President calls you a THUG (which is just code for the n-word) and threatens to shoot you.

    This is America.

And, let's not pretend we don't have a similar issue here in Canada. The Rebel is out there, pretending to be a news org, but is really just promoting racism and hatred. They survive because there is an appetite for this racism here.

    Yup.

With the current divide, I don't see any other outcome other than a revolution or civil war. it's only going to get worse closer to the election, and even if Trump and the republicans are defeated, that exit is going to be messy as hell, and those issues are still going to be boiling over.

My family has been gradually going to the US less and less often, and I don't know if we will go back for the foreseeable future, other than Hawaii that seems to avoid the vast majority of this. For the last 12-15 years I have been going to Mlps for a beer convention in October- not this year for sure. The current riots will dissipate but the country as a whole will be a shitshow for years.

When Trump was elected, we knew it would be bad, but I don't think many thought it would be this bad.

  5. Two things really strike me about this video; the message itself (which seems to go against the current government's views) and who it is coming from.

Bush used to be a punchline for poor public speaking, as well as not the sharpest tool in the shed. To me, it's a stark reminder how far the US (and the republican party) has gone downhill since then. The current government would never be able to splice to together a similar message from Trump, nor would they.

Never mind that, his team should have said well before he even left to go there "hey what are your protocols for visiting?" And I bet they did and pence just didn't bother to wear one.

... or he could have looked around and seeing each and every other person wearing a mask asking, "where's mine?"

I'd bet the farm the hospital told him - as was in the tweet they deleted, and that the wife is full of crap. Nothing like sending the wife out to address an old issue.

Adhering to proper workplace health and safety procedures is the responsibility of the employee, the employer, and the OHS committee (which is usually a combination of both parties forming said committee). It's standard practice to conduct site inspections on a regular basis to address and resolve issues in the workplace. This pandemic is one such instance where an inspection is necessary. Keep in mind it can vary from business to business but the general mandate remains the same.

The bottom line, however, is conducting a workplace inspection by video call is asinine, lazy, irresponsible, and basically useless. Whoever made this decision has put a lot of people needlessly at risk, of one which has died.

Federally, the concept of virtual inspections was introduced with Bill C-4 in 2013

So with health and safety it ultimately comes down to are the workers following safety procedures and are the managers enforcing them.

You can look at what a company puts on paper and it looks good, but if it's not implemented what do you do short of having someone fro  OHS  there all the time?

    One word- enforcement

Employers know they can cut corners, with little to no repercussions from OSH who also have the responsibility to enforce. H&S authorities have effectively been neutered when it comes to violations, and then you see these cases occur. If there is consistent enforcement, and fines for those who violate the rules, corporations will be motivated to follow the rules and regulations that are there.

I also don't buy blame being put on employees for the most part. Sure you're gonna have some idiots in any workplace that you're going to have to deal with. For the most part it is the culture of acceptance of ignoring H&S concerns in the name of productivity, a lack of training and awareness, and general apathy that leads to hazards such as this. In the legislation, the wording is also, " the employer shall ensure...". If you look at construction, if you don't follow the rules, you get kicked of the worksite. How many other employers are that diligent?

I honestly think that he's been lying so long that he changes his story and automatically believes it...

Then if there aren't 200,000 deaths, he will come out and blame the lamestream media for fearmongering

That border is going to be closed for a long time...

Yup- even if we get things under control here, it's gonna be a sH!tshow south of the border for a long time.

Mr Bring The Troops Home, End the Wars is triggering a war to distract from his criminal activity.  I hope Congress and the American people treat this as it is, another criminal act by a shameless coward.  I feel awful for US troops, some of whom I know (and they tell me Trump has zero respect as Commander-in-Chief), being used in this manner.

Im not sure the US will rally behind him as a war time President the way he thinks.  Lets hope not.

You'd like to think so, but i doubt it will change things. Hard to believe one minute killed this guy's presidential aspirations only 16 years ago. Standards have changed.

I was hoping to pick one up but then I saw their tweet about All the signs being gone. I thought it was crazy that they would be out of 3000 signs so quickly. Hopefully they’re good to go tomorrow and I can add this one to my other lawn sign.

I got there at about 11:30 even though they were supposed to start at 12, and there was lots of people leaving with signs then. Got one (at least they were doing only one per person). Also picked up a couple of the fan packs ( 6 foam fingers, cups, popcorn bowl, 6 koozies) they had for $20. Foam fingers and Bomber cups for the whole office!

I am of the opinion that the win was solely caused by a certain poster here decorating his bosses' car with a Bomber sticker.

You're welcome. I'll take credit if I must. It was a magnet and they did find the it before the game but the damage was done. It was hid behind the rear license plate, and slid down.

I expect some good natured retribution in the future, but I'll be on guard.

Its almost all on him. Horrible move bringing him in. Rookie GM mistake to sign a home town hero.  Ryan isn't even trying to angle the punts. We have had struggles but he is the biggest reason why. In banjo bowl a shanked punt had most of cover team already past the returner, the ones who weren't were sitting ducks. Not everyone here is in love with Ryan and how he has played.

I've seen a few times, particularly earlier, where he was outkicking the coverage. Give a returner some space, and we've seen what can happen. It's that the coverage can't close the gaps as fast. If you throw into the mix the fact that a coverage guy might not know where the punt is gonna be angled to or it's not angled well- that's a recipe for trouble.

Looking at net yards is a telling team stat, even if the punter doesn't like it.

Interestingly the couple people I know in health care would disagree, feeling the plan has a lot of merit.  Needs better execution.  The change from ER to urgent care impacts very few.  Rural health care is arguably improved significantly.  17 years of NDP was rough.  Going to take more than 3 years to fix.

Where I notice the biggest difference is in long term care. ER and Urgent care get the attention, and thus not as adversely affected. I have noticed a de-centralization effort, that has some benefits and drawbacks.

  15. 5 minutes ago, The Unknown Poster said:

The NDP were pretty disingenuous about ER's.  Firstly, they cant speak on health care after their 17 years in power.  I can appreciate a debate over Urgent Care vs ER's but I felt they werent being honest.  Trying to make it seem like those buildings were closed down.  I've had family go to Victoria Hsp Urgent Care just as they always did when it was an ER.

Who was in power when people died in ER's....?

Yeah reflecting on that is a difficult one. Anyone that works in health care can clearly see how things have gotten exponentially worse for providing care in the last three years. But how do you make that argument, and make it tangible without referencing the ER closures/restructuring/whatever you want to call it.

It's the behind the scenes stuff - rampant OT, experienced care providers saying **** it and retiring, cutting of basic services, putting pressure extra pressure on those still remaining, forced restructuring votes, general quality of care that has gone to crap that are the real issues that are hard to get across to people that don't stop to think or analyse (looking for the sound bite).
