Referring to someone as "Sonny Boy" in the same sentence acknowledging my extremely advanced age is my attempt at humor, and it's not a particularly subtle one! 😅

If I'm trolling I'd love to hear how you describe the attitudes and aggressiveness of the core group who post here 20+ times a day. A double standard is emerging when it comes to calling out confrontational posting.

The only double standard is I don't usually call people out publicly.   Many people you reference have probably at one time or another have had a post edited / deleted or given a warning.

A distilled definition of trolling is basically posting **** for the sole purpose of getting a reaction out of other people, and when they get that reaction, they complain about ad hominem attacks.

When you do get to the point of being a more blatant troll, then you will get the same warnings mentioned above.   Until then, keep doing what you are doing, or don't.  Up to you.

    Cheers.

I welcome more voices in the conversation, but when they enter with ad hominin attacks, raising personal slights rather than content party to the discussion, their contribution is unwelcome.

Funny.  You started the whole confrontational tone with Sonny boy comments.

Friendly public warning.  Every day you post the blurry line of trolling that you present here is becoming less and less blurry.

If you carefully revisit the conversation, you'll notice that I've mentioned my observation is based on personal anecdotes. However, unlike others in this conversation I haven't asserted any authority on the subject in an unsourced attempt to substantiate my claim.

You're weaker than Sal's gravy(but 3 times saltier), why are you even interjecting?

This is a forum.  For discussion.  That’s twice now you ask people why they are “interjecting”. When you post, you should expect people to reply and discuss.

  4. I have all the Pick 'Ems spreadsheets going back to 2016 (the pick 'ems before that were run on a forum extension that stopped working, so I don't have easy access to that data).   So, compiled a few stats from those years:

    Top 3 Finalists By Year

    2016

      Correct Picks Correct Percentage
    Cam 56 65.12%

This also means that depending on how @MOBomberFan picks in the remaining three games this year, he could set the record for the most picks and best correct percentage of all recorded years.  He currently sits at 68 picks for 81.93%.  Next best is @bigg jay in 2019 with 69 correct for 80.23%.

I included winning percentage as it gives an indication of consistency in correct picks and it was also a shortened season in 2021 with 69 games instead of 86.

@TBURGESS seems to be the model of consistency year after year, but troubles getting over the hump to win it all in a single year.

Thanks to everyone for playing over the years!

Wonder how many ppl go to both. I mean if I had tix to both I'd go to the one that matters more not 1 in 82.

I think that's what will happen also

We have that Jets game as part of our mini pack.  Even with them moving the time back, still tight to make the Bomber game.

Either we skip the Jets game or leave the Jets game early (and have to bring winter clothes to the game).   Still deciding.

And if we were actually managing things properly, you wouldn’t have to jump through so many hoops to try and explain what the team is doing.

Our practice roster has been mismanaged all year. Same as last year. Maybe if we didn’t waste spots on guys who were never going to make the roster, we could’ve brought in guys who actually had a shot at contributing and let them spend the year here getting up to speed on things. Maybe we could actually try developing a guy, giving him time to practice with the team so that if the opportunity presented itself, they’d be ready.

I understand there’s this desire to defend every aspect of our team, but our overall approach to team building this year has been very poor. It’s one of two things, and there’s no amount of you defending the team or Noeller screaming about how we don’t know everything happening behind the scenes that can make it any different - either our scouts suddenly for the first team in their tenure here did a terrible job this year or our coach and our scouts aren’t exactly seeing eye to eye

Has the loss of Rigmaiden back to BC finally caught up to our neg list?

it will for lots of people... if you make the arena a really great party, then lots of people will come who won't even care about the game. I'm sure of it.

The first 3 years the Jets were back there was a palpable organic party vibe in the arena.  People were just happy to have the team back.  There were the random chants that would source up from the crowd, there was electricity in the air when you were there, it was a fun place to be even without the team winning.

That has slowly declined since then.

The Jets now need to work to bring that back as it isn't just "happening" on its own anymore.

100% this. Couldn't agree more. As soon as I get back home full time I'll definitely be spending money on going to Jets games. If I can get in on a group, I might even go in on some seasons....

We moved from a group to a mini pack last year (rest of the group didn't want to renew).  They are way more convenient.   Seems to me groups are dying out with demand not there and mini packs weren't originally available when they came back with demand being what it was.

We took the weekend pack, which is more expensive games.  We are close to center ice, upper deck, and pay $1000 per seat (after tax) for 11 games .

so this is kind of interesting for me as an outdoors person. One of the handiest devices right now is the Garmin InReach, which allows you satellite connectivity for your phone (sort of) in case you're way in the middle of the bush, back country camping, fishing, hunting, etc..... and this StarLink feature would negate the need for Garmin's product. Intriguing anyhow. I know the Star Link internet service has been WILDLY popular in Cottage Country, as the other available services are trash...

I've been using a SPOT Gen3 just for piece of mind that people can find us or reach out for help in the most extreme of cases when we are on multi day hiking / canoeing trips in the backwoods.    But I only need it a few month out of the year, so I only pay monthly, but they charge reconnection fees every time.

Will be really interesting to see what the price point for this is and how much traffic they can handle.  Will this potentially be a replacement for cell phones outside of large metropolitan areas where the infra costs for telecom providers are high compared to subscribers.

rumour I'm hearing so far is that Corus is going to run 99.1 as an FM repeater of CJOB. Not confirmed, but that's the strong rumour. We shall see what happens. As always, I feel horrible for the employees tossed on their ass. Can't even imagine........though I kind of can.

Is there a benefit to running it as a repeater on an FM station or is it just the cheapest thing to do?   Seems to me anyone who has a FM radio already has AM and AM has a longer range.
