Manitoba NDP Leader Wab Kinew says his party would temporarily eliminate the provincial gas tax if it wins the Oct. 3 provincial election.

But he has also claimed he will balance the budget in their first term.   Would have to hope inflation subsides to put the tax back, otherwise that's an extra couple hundred million to balance.

It was actually in Golden BC which should have made it more expensive with taxes, but from what i could tell menu pricing was exactly the same.

You're correct, mandatory wasn't the right word to describe guilt based tipping, with so many different payment systems currently in use you have to be pretty sharp to navigate around it as 0 tip is most often not one of the obvious options.

I don't mind tipping for fast food when I can see it's temporary foreign workers providing the service although I wish the Fed govt. would not embrace this form of second class citizenship, my real beef is with Subway for implementing a deceptive pricing policy.  Same thing MacDonald's and Tim Hortons have done with their rotating menu boards, lucky if you can spot the item you wish to purchase before the menu changes, never mind figuring out how much it's going to cost.  Image has overtaken details in point of sales marketing, encouraging increased impulse buying.

    Bring back these!

  3. Edmonton can't fire Jones without being severely hampered due to the Operations cap.  This is probably the only change they can make so they have the appearance of doing something for the fans and attendance.

If this is the reason for this, very unfortunate for Cui who gets handcuffed with a coach and GM he didn't hire and couldn't fire.

Not sure the operations cap is the best thing for the league.  Have to think that without it, Jones would have been fired long ago.   Imagine if we couldn't fire Joe Mack and Tim Burke because we didn't want to be hampered by the operations cap for the next couple of seasons.

Seems a lot better (for me at least) today, which means it's likely fixed :)

    Thanks @Rich!

I haven't actually done anything to fix it.

I've been keeping on eye on some monitoring of the server, there was an intermittent database process that was pinning CPU usage (and spiking disk access) to above 100% when we typically average below 50%.  That was what was causing the slowdowns or freezes.  I would reset the virtual environment when I noticed the site was unresponsive and it would fix it temporarily.

I haven't had time to dig further into which query was actually causing it.  That would have been my next step to address it, but today we look to be back at typical CPU usage.  So, all the better for me, if this just fixed itself.

I still need to do some digging just to make sure someone hasn't hacked the server and is mining bitcoin or something
