The NFL settled Kap's suit already.  But there is no way he is going to come back to football.  He has too much to lose in sponsorships if he came back and looked like he did the last year and a half that he played.  People remember him from the couple of seasons before the rest of the league adjusted to the RPO.

he got a pretty hefty payday from Nike, did he not??

I'm sorry if I offended your sense of better judgement. When I see Matt's arms I don't think "gunslinger quarterback". When I see her arms I think "she spends some time in the gym". P.S. I do think their daughter Elliot is an adorable cutey.

look, I'm not a big fan of Nichols, and have been calling for him to be replaced for a long time.  But there's a difference between criticizing his play VS criticizing him as a person.

People got real down on Streveler as soon as he became the starter. Guy is still a good player

"He doesnt have the tools" - lots of people.

He's currently sitting 17th in the league behind just about everyone in terms of pass attempts this season.  Give the guy a little rope here... geez!   Lots of QBs struggle in their first several games and go on to have great careers!

I dont understand the panic.... Nichols was mediocre the bulk of the season so far.  To think that isnt replaceable is pretty closed minded!

  4. I called it in the pre-season, that Streveler would be the starter by Mid-August.  Just didnt think this would be how it would happen.  As much of a team guy as Nichols is, it's going to be hard for him to hang around and play mentor in this situation.

With the receiving corps weve got, I have no doubt that Streveler will find some success.  Hes already got chemistry with Wolitarsky.  Give him a few weeks with the full crew, and I think this offence is going to thrive.  Will it happen on Friday?  Quite possibly not.  But the timing of this injury is a blessing in disguise because there's still half the season to go!  I don't think theres reason for doom & gloom.  Give these guys the chance to see what they can do!  At the end of the day, what were trying to replace production wise was give or take 200 yards passing per game.  I have to think that not only achievable but surpassable very quickly!

Unless this changes, Harris will burn out or get hurt, should we make it to the playoffs and that seems reasonable, we will get smoked by the opposition DC because anyone can predict what plays will be called when. And the play calling, well he may have the most offensive stats in the league so far but it is a different ball game come playoffs and we have seen this movie before. BUT good luck don't take BC lightly, think we already did with Toronto.

you hear the term "load management" getting tossed around more and more in other sports.... gotta wonder if Harris can keep up this level of play for a few more months when he's so heavily relied on, and getting 25+ touches a game.   Same goes for Nichols... if they get opportunities to take him out of the game and keep him healthy, go for it!   Better to have a full stable in November than wear out your horses by September!

It’s amazing how so many of us become armchair QB’s and believe we know better than an professional football player.  Plus you’re looking at a replay on tv vs having to make a split second decision on the field.

It’s amazing how knowledgeable some of us are.

nope... watched it develop live.  Do I know what Nichols saw?  Of course not... I know what I saw, and that was Whitehead blow by the coverage and was wide open, and his body language post-play would indicate the same!

I might be in the minority with this, but Matthews dropped that ball. The DB made a solid play, but I still think that ball should have been caught. I also think Whitehead ran the wrong route on that play, him and Matthews were very close to one another. Aaaand on top of that, Matthews jogged for a good portion of that route.

Whitehead blew by his coverage, and had Nichols seen that and not been locked in on Matthews from the get go, maybe he throws it to Whitehead?  That was a TD for sure, and you could see Whitehead saunter back to the huddle dejected knowing he had a sure TD if the ball was thrown to him in stride.   Great play by the DB to break up the play, but Nichols picked the wrong receiver to throw to on that play.

I figured this is what you were referring to. Isn't it true that Berry was screwed either way? I give him credit for having the cajones to make a switch since Glenn wasn't getting it done. How else does he find out if the new guy can do it? If Dinwiddie is lights-out Berry looks like a genius. In stead, Berry had 2 QBs that couldn't get it done. That's Taman's fault. As for Kelly, that isn't Berry's fault either.

I always liked Doug Berry. He was a man's man and everything I was hoping O'Shea, and before him, Lapo would be. Instead we got guys afraid to do what may need to be done.

Mike Kelly was Lyle Bauer's doing, and I think he was coming in with nothing short of a Grey Cup win.

And I totally agree.... you aren't going to know what you have unless you take a chance.  Worked for the Stamps with Bo Levi, when they had Drew Tate projected to be starter.  And Tate had proven he was just as capable as say someone like Nichols.  And if you want to say "injury prone", Nichols has had his share of injuries as well!

Glenn was having a ho hum season and Dinwiddie was the new hotness at backup qb, Berry gave Dinwiddie some starts and it was awful and then went back to Glenn and it was still awful cause your qbs are being treated at the scapegoats and they're afraid of making a mistake. Long term it got Berry fired and we got the Mike Kelly shitshow in response.

This whole idea that you can just yo-yo your qbs without impacting their game and that the new guy will fix everything just leads to teams imploding. Yes you can get Streveler some more time in blow out situations or as a change up if the offense is bogged down, but you don't yank NIchols just to see if the new guy can do it.

OK... but.  This coaching staff has shown that they won't do either.  Streveler never went in when games were well in hand, and they've always seemed to stick by Nichols even when he's getting nothing done and clearly struggling.  So, it would seem that you just gotta run with 1 guy.  Why they've gone away from mixing in Streveler more often, when they had so much success with it last season is confusing.  He seems to only come in now for dive plays to plunge for a first down.  Hopefully tomorrow they mix him in and run some play-action plays where he actually gets the throw the ball.   I think they need the change of look offence to keep the opposing D on their toes!

  10. A few things.... I dont remember Buck Pierce dumping it off all the time.  And with Charlie & Sellers... that's a two headed monster that any OC with half a brain would have utilized no differently.

Drew Willy had an atrocious O-Line, so to compare him & Nichols is difficult.. Nichols played behind the best OLine in the league the last couple season and still looked mediocre more often than not.

And finally.....LaPo isn't the one making reads and throwing the ball.  He doesnt call nothing but 6 yard routes. Nichols just panics and gets rid of the ball early 70% of the time.  Call a play bad if you want, but I bet many routes dont even get fully run before that ball is gone.

Lawler was doing that last game and every throw he got in his direction he had to turn in to gumby just to try to catch it cuz Nichols accuracy was so off. Lucky Whitehead wide open.. Nobody around.. Had to make a nice catch cuz the throw was so poor..

If your QB cant throw an accurate pass.. Does it matter? Cuz the last 2 games now.. Nichols accuracy has been poor. Is he hurt? Broken hand?

I also notice watching other games... QBs always lead the receiver so he can run under it and keep going.. With us.. Its like timing is always off cuz our guys are literally standing still.

Teams had him figured out half way through 2017... you pressure and take away Harris, and you're going to have success against the Bombers.

His accuracy has been awful... chucks it to the sidelines so often when the pocket even remotely starts to collapse.  This is why I truly believe that the more game time Streveler gets, the more he's going to figure it out.   He's a threat to run, which when he rolls out, is going to get attention from the linebacking corps.  If he can get them to commit to him running, or even freeze them while finding someone downfield, it's going to open up the mid - deep plays.   With Nichols, there's zero threat of that happening because he's too slow to roll out and create any time for himself.  If he rolls out, he's tossing into the 2nd row just to get rid of it, not trying to guide a guy open downfield like the elite QBs can!

And frankly, when has a in-season change of position or head coach change resulted in dramatic change?

You mean like 2016 when the club decided to move on from Drew Willy and bring in Matt Nichols??   How many people credited him with the turnaround, and not Harris, who truly had the much larger impact.

He's passed his expiry date over a year ago as far as I'm concerned.  This erratic play has been going on since September 2017.
