  1. That high stick doesn't happen if they call the trip against Connor... Brutal.

  2. “Every game”? 🤔 helle .871 tonight. Definitely made a few great saves. But, so did the other guy. I don’t think he outplayed the other guy. And he has to for us to have a chance. He has to be the same guy he is in the regular season and he has just not been. The tying goal was right through his legs again. and Ehlers? Outside of that overtime goal against Edmonton in 2021, he’s always been a meh playoff performer as well. It’s really too bad. It’s all very disappointing.

  3. Three obvious things to me: Clean faceoff (clean being the key word) wins by Avs need to stop. We need to make the Avs pay for their aggressive D play. SM needs to finish. Need to treat this like a regular season third period and good things will happen.

  4. First Canadian has been taken in the NFL draft this year. Isaiah Adam goes in the 3rd round to the Cardinals.

  5. But he’s good for hockey, he’s a character, he’s blah blah blah Nope he’s a thug, a marketing gimmick to get money out of knuckle draggers.

  6. I totally agree with you. Those incremental increases were prearranged. The next major negotiation is still a couple of years away. What the financial situation of the league is a big unknown right now. If we are still in these tight finances (and I am guessing that the missing the covid season has a lot to do with that) then it is just stay in financial survival mode. However, if we are continuing to see TV fan ratings going up there could be a substantially larger amount of money available for the salary cap. It might even be a quantum leap. When such discoveries are made financial decisions in a compacted time frame are not always made with the greatest wisdom. Preplanning what to do with newfound money is not senseless. It often makes a great deal of difference; in order to negotiate well; you have to know what is truly important and what makes a big difference. Otherwise, the money just goes to the top end of the player pool, as the all-stars demand and the general managers compete. That is the opposite of planning. So at the next player negotiations, if there is not a source of new money from increased viewership or attendance, then I agree that the best thing to focus on is player safety and procedural methods to ensure that safety. One item I have harked on in the past is quarterback protection. There are many other issues. There is also methodology to increase player security and comfort. Why bring preplanning up now? Because we are in a lull of big events to discuss. How many posters are considering the state of the league 3 to 5 years down the line? Now that we've had the NFL draft last night, we can start to get into the nitty-gritty of our Canadian draft and getting players to camp. It's getting exciting!

  7. I don’t know enough about the finer details of hockey to explain why, but yeah it was a totally different team until that high-stick penalty. Just gassed out after a 4 minute PK maybe?

  8. Yup to the casual fan it literally looked like they gave up and abandoned how they were playing up to that point.

  9. As a casual fan, it was really disappointing to see the refs totally change the pace of the game in the 3rd with that garbage non-call. That being said, the Jets weren’t physical on D at all after they went down 3-2

  10. Dillon gonna play next game? Arm looked bad there.

  11. It seems like every year they do this. Win game one and then collapse. Need a huge game Sunday but they look defeated. Also, what's up with Ehlers? Seems like he doesn't skate anymore and would rather just throw the puck away. The guy just seems off for normally being one of the fastest guys on the ice.

  12. This team is just **** right now. Blame the.refs. But there is no sign of life in them whatsoever. 2 more games.left.in the season. 1 more whiteout loss and then Bucky and Scheifs will.end their careers with Jack ****.

  15. Toffoli needed to score on that breakaway...sigh... Kyle Connor looks like he's sleep walking out there tonight. Gives up the puck and then dogs it Dubois style back to the bench. What is going on there.

  17. Imho the first 5-7 minutes will tell us everything about how this game will go. Im begging the Jets to dictate early and let the Avs know they are not going to enjoy this game. I think Perfetti checks in at some point this series.

  20. "Where would you expand? Halifax? ... Quebec City or London, Ontario? Remains to be seen. poersonally, I doubt it." I agree Halifax is a dead-end pursuit and a logistical nightmare in terms of travel. Very expensive too. London would be cutting into the fan base, MAYBE, for the Tigercats and Argos. Of course, you never know what that community might be hungry for. I see no appeal. So no. Québec city intrigues me though. It would instantly set up a rivalry with the Alouettes. The fan base there has proven themselves; there is a natural complement between football and hockey – – they have opposite seasons with very little overlap. I also think it would add some legitimacy to the league, filling in a void where the major French population looks a little underserved, at least to me. I also heard Ambroise speak of Québec City in positive terms in terms of marketing the CFL. So it looks like the CFL brass are thinking about it seriously. I hope it happens – – it would make everything better in terms of scheduling, league balance, and keeping travel costs down. Expanding to Québec city makes a lot of sense to me.

  21. If he dies, he dies. I think they clearly tried to bring in some nose tackles since stove left. Just doesn't seem like they have found what they wanted in one. They were really hard stuck on walker last year too. I can imagine being a nose in the cfl isn't easy. Unlike the NFL you will have to run and move a lot more and can be stuck on the field for a lot longer. Might be that they haven't felt comfortable with the ability of the bigs abilities to stay on the field and remain effective.

  22. In the past it seemed like OL blossomed late, and played till the wheels fell off. Now, especially with Canadians, they seem to start and leave much earlier than before. With the change of body/athletic types along the OL we've seen guys prioritize walking away with a great degree of health and quality of living than ever before. I feel like out side of that we see solid to fringe players walk away despite having roles they could fill for a long time a good bit as well. Some times because they seemingly realize they can't be more or because they realize the amount of grind that is required to attain little on maintain a high level of play is much more than they expected.

  24. Not to mention that if there is a 10th team, there are only so many talented Canadians to go around. The talent pool will already be diluted by that, and then to try and add more positions for rookie Canadians, they'd really be scraping the bottom of the barrel to try and fill those spots.

  29. How much do you think the salary cap goes up by every year? 2015 - $5.05 M 2016 - $5.1 M 2017 - $5.15 M 2018 - $5.2 M 2019 - $5.25 M 2020 - $5.3 M (cancelled season) 2021 - $5.35 M (shortened season) 2022 - $5.35 M 2023 - $5.45 M 2024 - $5.525 M With the cap only going up by $50K to $75K, asking them to use $250,000 would be asking some players to take a pay cut to make it work, and the PA would never advocate for that.

  30. You keep saying the same thing over-and-over and have not provided anything new. I'm sure the CFL will just find more money. This is just another of your nonsense threads.

  32. It wasn’t an ass kicking until that double minor high sticking penalty in the third when the Avs then scored just over 2 minutes into the penalty. Then the Jets brains and wills broke in two. Overall it was a pretty good road game till then. Very disappointing. Just can’t move from good to great in a progressive and consistent way.
