On Hustler and Lawless they briefly discussed this with Steve Simmons and the consensus was that Jones' refusal to directly answer questions regarding a potential move to Saskatchewan this off-season to take the position of GM/head coach means he is as good as gone in Edmonton for 2016.

 

I wonder what the Riders are willing to pay?  $500,000? $600,000?  Maybe even $750,000?

Sure as hell shouldn't be Lulay, as one suggested. Harris, maybe...but even then, I'm not sold on him, based on the second half of the season.

It won't be a car wreck, but that roster needs a heavy re do for it to be respectful

I would not be surprised if Jones tries to pry Franklin out of Edmonton then have Durant on a short leash.

If I were Mr. Hervey I would be in a definite contract negotiation run with his fa's before they jump ship...From Grey Cup to re-up and in a bloody hurry..

The scouting needs to step up. Walters himself has done a good job. It's the scouts that really haven't. Active in free agency? Check. Signing guys to extensions? Check. Trades to help the team? Check.

The scouting tho has really only produced bass and j adams. Not good enough

Spencer Davis looked good last game of the season but he wasn't being used as a receiver. Jury out on him but looks to have potential but still 3 maybe 4 guys if you include Justin Cole... not good enough.

I'm not a fan of the scouting either, but let's be honest - they also got Cotton, Marshall, Daniels, Bruce Johnson.

Those guys are all fairly mediocre

Edmonton won a cup without Gretzky, I'm sure they'll survive without Jones.

Look for John Murphy to join Jones in the not to distant future likely title of VP Player Personnel.

I'd somewhat doubt that or did Chris Jones call you after the press conference and let you in.

At this point, I think this is getting blown out of proportion by the media. I don't think this realistically has the legs they are trying to give it. I would think the likelihood of Jones going to the Riders is slim. It would be insane for the Esks to let him go....and they don't have too.

It's mainly Winnipeg, Calgary, and Edmonton, but most of the league isn't fond of the Riders.

Why sign a coach to a multi-year contract now?  You want to fire him, you have to pay him.  He wants to leave, he's free to with no compensation.  Are teams going to start putting buyouts into coaches contracts like NCAA?

Im guessing the coaches want the multi year deals. It isnt often a coaching spot goes to open market for a team thats in a great situation. Usually those teams have a dickenson in the system or a specific target. Coaches have the worst job security in the world, im ok with them getting a golden parachute.
