Bombers at Redblacks early chat

Good to see Zach back in pads but we know everyone wants Dru to start, even Ottawa fans probably want Dru to annihilate the Redblacks to stick it to Dumbwiddie.

Dolegala sure, but Maier is a legitimate backup calibre qb in this league. Elgersma needs more than a dozen five yard completions to prove himself.

Yes but the people who use that phrase completely misunderstand that it is more apt to apply to supporters than critics.

Would be nice to see but maybe Zach doesn't want to lose his job.

These types of games always give me high anxiety especially this one specifically with the Dru Brown situation.

Ottawa, who are you know something like 0 and 100, get their first W off JM’s career day is something I do not want to experience.

Let’s take care of business and keep Dinwiddie at the goose egg please and thank you.

I write this with conviction based on MOS’s approach to certain players he loves and adores, there is absolutely no chance that ZC loses his starting job until ZC decides he no longer wants it.

I know I sound like a broken record, but man we could use some of the old school 80's methodology here whereby Zach is given 3 or 4 series to do something, and then he's pulled and Brown goes in. No screwing around all game waiting for Zach to "warm up" if he's sucking crap. Just like when Huffer would come in when Clements wasn't getting it done.

It shouldn't be up to ZC anyway....it should be due to being healthy, as well as what @kelownabomberfan said performance. If feelongs are hurt than you shouldn't be playing pro sports and what kind of teammate does that make you pouting?

I'd give Dru this game soley to really get him up to speed as well as to make certain ZC is 100 percent.

If the following week ZC is deemed ready, put him back...but if he is just meh...or looking like previous season and a half ZC then a quick hook should be made...Tome for Osh to be a HC and not a buddy and wanna be liked...team first...not bias

If Brown lights it up big time this weekend...why yank him the following game tho?...what's the harm in going with the hot hand, and it also allows ZC to totally heal...or at the least, remain healthy.

Sure would look foolish if Brown balls out...rips off some wins...plays lights out and has offence playing in 5th gear, only to be benched to watch ZC come in...as offence sputters around in 3rd gear, and we lose

ZC been here going into yr 6....Brown into yr 4...not like he some unknown newbie who hasn't been around a while...he's earned it as much as ZC has when you look at it

What kind of odds do you guys put Brown starting over a healthy Zach? I'm saying 33% purely because O'Shea wants to avoid the controversy and add in a dash of him being loyal to guys no matter what the situation is.

I mean even if you believe Zach is the guy that gives you the best chance to win I think with Zachs history with injuries, the confident in Brown being able to step in and win footballs games, and it being so early in the season I think you rest him. Now that being said I think as of today Dru Brown gives us the best chance to win football games. You don’t give up what we gave up for him if you didn’t think he was going to be our guy sooner rather than later. I’ll say this. It’s been 7-8 years since Zach had to compete and sweat it out. Competition is always a good thing. If O’Shea stays with Zach once he’s healthy (and let’s face it, he probably will) I’m hoping it brings out the best in him.

ZC has been playing good football this year. He should start if he's 100 healthy. We should not rush him tho with a quality back up like Brown.

If Zach is healthy, he starts. Full stop. But we definitely can afford to not rush him because Dru is legit.

I like the talk about competition for the starting spot, but I honestly don’t see O’Shea not going with Zach, even if we’re a few weeks down the road and Dru has clearly outperformed him in whatever opportunities he’s had. Fortunately, as others have said, Zach has been good this season, so this QB situation is a nice ‘problem’ to have,

Personally...I'd go with the hot hand and the more productive when both are 100 percent....like why wouldn't you in order to give best chance to win

Yep, if Zach is out for 2-3 games and Dru is lighting it up, why would you switch back?

exactly...makes zero sense....ZC can be healthy and the ultimate backup if DRU gets hurt...or starts to struggle....Put ZC back in and if he is playing well...then on we go...

I'd actually prefer to see Dru get the start and have an opportunity to stick it to his old team and Dinwiddie. Certainly sounds like he has an axe to grind and some added motivation.

I agree if ZC is close to 100% Osh is going with ZC

We are in a situation now that we can err on the side of caution with Zac. If he's not totally 100 he should sit this week

yup...no reason to rush him back now...at any point in season...What's 1 more game to be sure he's good?

It also get's Dru more acclimated and in sync with everything, so if and when ZC gets back to starting...and goes down again....Brown is ready.

If ZC gets back, and we scuffling and or he is playing poor....there should be zero reason for Osh to not make the switch in a game...He shouldn't worry about anything else other than getting the more productive guy on the field...its a luxury we now have that hasnt been here in a while....use it

One has to wonder what the motivation was for Ryan Dinwiddie to say publicly that he felt Brown didn't have the arm strength to push the ball downfield verically? In what dimension or world that he lives in, did he think a comment like that wouldn't come back to bite him at some point? When a coach says that about one of his qbs that he got rid of, well that's akin to a personal attack. Qbs are generally defined by their arm strength. When a coach says his qb can "make all the throws" or he's a "gunslinger" that's about as complimentary as it gets.

Not that I think he’s a terrible coach or anything but Dinwiddie sure is coming across like an idiot this year.

Even funnier coming from Dinwiddie who was the real noodle arm QB.

it seems like he saves his brilliant coaching days exclusively for Grey Cups against the Bombers...

0%... A clearly injured Zach but he might be able to limp through it would be maybe a 25% chance Brown would get the start.

Ego... He is rightly taking a lot of heat for that decision and he needs to justify it because Maier sure as **** isn't doing it for him.

It's become pretty clear that when he was in Toronto that Pinball was the firewall that protected Ryan Dinwiddie from himsellf. Now, that he has complete control in Ottawa, there's no Pinball to protect him. I mean, it's pretty evident that Sean Burke has one foot out the door already & was only kept around because of the Admin Cap. Dinwiddie doesn't report to him.

Dinwiddie seems to be the only one who thinks he can win with Maier. He can;t & I predict that Jake won't even be playing pro football anywhere in 2 years. It'll take a miracle to resurrect his career.
