Bombers at Redblacks early chat

Good to see Zach back in pads but we know everyone wants Dru to start, even Ottawa fans probably want Dru to annihilate the Redblacks to stick it to Dumbwiddie.

Dolegala sure, but Maier is a legitimate backup calibre qb in this league. Elgersma needs more than a dozen five yard completions to prove himself.

Yes but the people who use that phrase completely misunderstand that it is more apt to apply to supporters than critics.

Just your weekly reminder that you're not being truthful when you say that.... Collaros has looked better than last season to start the year but he certainly hasn't been outstanding.

This is just Collaros hating nonsense. First two games he was phenomenal. Return to peak Zach. Third game was the OL **** show and I believe your exact words were "Collaros has actually been really good all things considered". Then he gets hurt vs Ham. Small sample size, absolutely, but let's not deny how good he looked to start the year under Condell.

Using your logic, the team comes first so you keep him once he's cleared to play.

If the team is better by trading him for some needed pieces, you do it.

If the team is close to or just straight up out of the playoffs.....sure. But you dont trade qb depth when youre a legit GC contender.

This has been a tough go.... Thinking the tieline lost connection for em. I have been there... Nothing you can do. Worst case scenario you call the on air line from your cell and call the game that way. Hard to have both the PBP and Colour by going that route but it's better than nothing. At the end of the day, we long as the sponsors spots are playing, that's the biggest thing...

Zach 1-2.

Non-Zach 3-0

yeah collaros has been an issue for this team at times. Not the biggest issue or only issue, but he doesn't have the same abilities to extend plays or escape pressure he used to have that other guys maybe do possess.

I had to check that three times before I posted it. That is staggering.

and its not shocking actually...pretty easy to see.

yeah he wasnt the main culprit...but he is a major reason for the 4 yr slide in record and end resuts

He panics now...cant navigate in pocket anymore...and his arm is not what it was...not a good trio of traits for your 600k a yr QB

play off zach save for like 2 games has been the biggest problem on the team. Zach the past two years was putrid. This year, he hasn’t been a problem even once. A big part of that is we fell into dru brown at exactly the right time. if we didn’t, zachs health issues would be ruining this season before we even get to ld.

Yeh....Reg season success in the last few ys...even tho that is diminishing didn't equate to anything in postseason...Even the yr we won the Cup...It wasn't really due to ZC play

Thank god we got Brown when we did...as he wouldnt have been available to us shortly after unless we wanted to pay a lot...Cause if both BC and Hamilton was vyingfor a QB...The price would have sky rocketed

I can see...tho I Dont want to see it is teams Kicking the tire of Perkins...or us dangling him and if we could get a legit playmaker on offence for him...which probably isnt unrealistic exchange of assets...that could happen...we know that if Kyle told Osh he was looking to move ZC...Ol Mikey boy would have a BF..So Walter's if it gets to that needs to yank up his big boi GM pants and tell his HC to go lay down.

He likely gives any team that needs a starter now the best chance to win now...and used right, on a team with actual weapons, would prob be very successful

That being said if Dru keeps on winning...and with this lineup and being only 29...I'm hitching my wagon to him on a 3 yr deal and building a team around him moving forward and be shopping TE as I sure some clown show management group would pay handsomely for him.....I dont care about a Canadian Pivot any more than I care about getting kicked in the Junk...and really...we all know ZC is done here...if not already this yr...definitely next and we dont have the time to wait on TE to develop...if he ever will, while we already have a starter in the room...who we likely extend on a nice team friendly fair deal for both sides.

The fact not one team in the NFL saw the idea of picking him up and being a viable QB...not a starter but a viable QB2 to develop...or could even be developed tells me more than I need to know. And from what I have seen to date...He is a long way off from being a reliable starter...if he ever is...Big Arm...doesn't equate to a big impact...we've seen that tons of times up here

Trade ZC or TE to Ottawa for one of their top receivers + starter?

Why not go with brown who as you say is 29 and develop TE over those years.... Give him a few years and if Brown is 33 and TE is ready and still young that's a good problem to have...

Thats also a crap shoot...cause will te stay..especially if at 33 brown is slaying it..and why would you move on from him then...thats the tough decisions...easier at that juncture...dumb tho when you do it with a 36 yr old who was showing decline already and was an injury just waiting to happen..how many games has he missed since the edm injury...and how many did he play when he shouldn’t have been...quite a few I bet as watching his work it was evident he wasn't all there physically or in the head..and well..we saw in grey cup what osh did...the finger Cup..and the one 2 yrs prior with ankle where he couldn't plant ..let alone set up to throw with any authority so that tells me he prob played a lot where he shouldn't have

FTR: The Lions have announced that Rourke will be gone for weeks, if not months.

It takes more to win than just pinning winning & losing on the qb. Collectively, our receiving corps is the worst in the CFL for the second year in a row, The Trinity could have signed one more impact as there were a few out there. They chose not to. Condell doesn't use Oliveira the way he should, Our OL is old & getting beat like a dead horse. Bryant should have been told it's time to pack it in.

The OL situation is just odd. Sign pretty much the best tackle in the league, let your pylon centre go elsewhere, but fail to address another liability.

and the high scoring high qbr start to the league starts falling apart. Hopefully this is the worst of it and guys get back to healthy quickly. But with almost 2/3 left to play im not betting on it.

As much as Noeller doesn't understand this, I'm sad that this happened. Rourke is such a talent. However, the CFL is their worst enemy. Thy morphed a development position (QB3) that should be used for developing qbs as now they use that position as short yardage qbs... Instead, we employ slugs who can run but can't throw to get us first down or TD's in short yardage. The result is a shortage of good young qbs with potential being developed. Teams just can't find competent players to take the place of starters who get hurt. If it was up to me, I'd get rid of these short yardage qbs in favour of promising young qbs who can actually play the position. If the CFL wants to run short yardage then use a running back under Center.

Isn't this what the Lions have done? 3QBs on the roster but Horvath runs the short yardage package. Early returns on Brice weren't great of course.

I’m pretty sure they said weeks not months. So that could be 7 weeks cuz then it’s not months. It’s only 1 month plus 3 weeks. But I’d assume it’s like 2 or 3 weeks not 7. Zach will likely be out longer. I don’t think NR has been 6 gamed…. Yet.

yep, it was our best chance to avoid the critical mistake of next years rule changes too. It’s not my cup of tea as far as football goes but it’s great for the league.

The CFL put the brakes on young 9 qbs actually being devloped years ago. Instead, we have guys only doing short yardage at QB3 who can run. However, most don't have the ability to run an actual offense & throw the ball. That's 90 qbs that the league never tried to develop in the past decade.

I think it would also speak to how bad our acouting system is league wide if we did have actual 90 young qbs with promise come thru development & only 2 or 3 ever became starters. Then, you have to look & say what are teams doing scouting qbs? Well, as a league the CFL is in a real jam now looking at who backs up the starters at qb & if they can actually play.

Every team has a short yardage qb usually at #3.
