November 21, 20223 yr Too soon? Too many truly painful Grey Cup losses have taken the sting out of yesterday's loss already. Time to look forward while we cope with the recent disappointment. Who do we keep? Who do we let go? Who do we go after? Someone was going to start this thread at some point.
February 12, 20232 yr I'm not sure why people keep implying that Schoen would stay on his rookie deal, if he returns to Winnipeg.

February 12, 20232 yr Yeah he would have to stay on it..as it's a signed contract ..but I expect a restructure and extension...not huge money this yr but if he continues the success 2024 will be significantly higher
February 12, 20232 yr I like Mike Jones but don't see a spot with Nichols, Darby, Houston, Parker, Lawrence and Rose.

But I don't think the club will treat him that - they will restructure, as Booch suggests. I dislike the stuff that DT is tweeting, saying "the Bombers will gain 150-200K in additional value from Schoen's contract."

February 12, 20232 yr Houston is in yr 3 here now...doubt he on a rookie deal...that being said tho I sure it's very economical for us

I agree but won’t be surprised that is doesn’t happen until later in the year once the team has an idea of where they will finish under the cap, 6 game injured and such.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got bumped up to the 110-120 range this year with a 2 year 500k extension or something like that with 50 percent guaranteed in 2025. Not sure why the concept of a player being of more value than guys being paid much more than him is offensive.

Just saying I don't think it's fair that the rookie of the year stays at mimimum salary.

Walters would be dumb to let him play this year at his rookie salary when he could get a contract extension. Less of a question of what is fair and more about what is smart IMO.
February 13, 20232 yr You give him about 10-15k less than what Bailey made last yr and if he continues with the torrid numbers....then for 2024 he gets a nice bump

Especially if we haven’t used a lot of our bonus money this year. If we get him Re upped and extend his year for another two that’d be massive.
February 13, 20232 yr Can you sign a partially guaranteed deal after your rookie contract (two seasons)?

February 13, 20232 yr Guess will be a Schoen watch today?...no deal signed window is closed?...I expected him back all along, so don't see an 11th hour deal for him down south
February 13, 20232 yr The NFL can go ahead and let him slip through the cracks, their loss is our gain (both our team and our league). What a relief it will be to have him back for another season on such a bargain

February 13, 20232 yr The CFL should hire CFL Mix Tapes to do their clips. Their videos suck. Edited February 13, 20232 yr by Geebrr

Cause why let a young person help your brand grow? Their core fans are approaching retirement age, they don't need no kids liking the CFL!!!!
