On Marino's late hit at the end of the game, I do not know if O'Shea could have challenged for roughing the QB, but it is not his way. What if Marino had have been reassessed with roughing/misconduct. Would that have caused him a league suspension? Will he be given a misconduct by the league anyway?

I have been preaching the Blue needed to take care of Marino early in the game. But would that have been class-less?

I think you do it in the boardroom on the Zoom call or whatever.  Just say we aren't fielding a team if that guy is on anyone's roster.  We're trying to build a league and you're allowing a marginal player to go around taking out the highest paid players in the league that we can't easily replace.  As a league lets pull out head out of our asses and if one team wants to go rogue and try to do the bad boy ****, let them deal with the fallout.

There's a base level of respect necessary to play in this league and Marino is constantly displaying that he doesn't have it.  Players in this league are doing it to make a living.  They have families, they have kids, they have a future beyond football.  We're going to get jacked up about some moron putting a star QB in a wheelchair so his shitty team might win a couple games?  Guys like Duke need to go too.  You flag them, fine them, suspend them for racial slurs, spitting and it happens again.  Time for the league to follow through.  It's beyond ridiculous.

Why do we have to argue intent all the time? Intent isn't in the rule book.

What happened in the play matters. Collaros isn't a passer, so none of the passing rules apply. Collaros made a blind turn to the outside of the field and ran into Marino, who clocked him.

Cheap shot? You bet! Fine coming? I certainly hope so.

When 2 refs and the CC say there isn't enough to call a penalty, the most likely answer is that the professional refs know the rules better than the fans, not that all 3 of them got it wrong.

Was gonna say...intent is in rules now...thanks for mentioning...also refs are instructed to.make a judgement call if they feel intent was present...that's why intent gets brought up...my intent is to parlay this so we can stop having to intentionally defend and bring it up...over...and over

It was a clear UR call, refs missed it. Its fairly easy to argue since its late, ZC didn't have the ball, Marino's history etc that there was intent to injure. JBR makes excellent points, you need to get rid of this if you're serious about player safety and building your league. On a side note, some people in football (ex Mullinder) need to get out of this football is warrior's battling mentality so you can have dirty plays and dirty hits. Its 2022, we all know about concussions, head trauma, CTE etc.

God even in Mullinder's day if he was lined up in 3 technique and the play was 40 yards across the field and some OL just peeled back and earholed him that would be a flag.

These hits have been illegal for a very long time, like over 20 years.  The Dyson iso cam was over 20 years ago.

He does not have an easy job. The league has teams staggering from one financial crisis to another, only one national TV network bidding for the broadcast rights trying to appease all the owners must be like herding cats.

A qb in the back field is always a passer too. Other wise they could hand off the ball and you could lay them out.

The cflpa is a huge problem tho. They can't just ban suspend or even fine guys without the PAs ok really. The PA is unfortunately there to protect players like Marino

Thing is they really aren't there to protect Marino, or really most players that require discipline. These players make up a tiny fraction of their constituents. They benefit more from protecting the majority of players, particularly the ones that make them money (QBs).

For instance if anyone has followed the Deshaun Watson stuff in the NFL, when Roger Goodell appealed the initial discipline decision, Goodell was then able to appoint whoever he wanted for the appeal. This seems extremely odd, right? But that is because for the NFLPA it's not worth fighting over (or conceding something else in return). They aren't going to fight over something that affects such a small amount of players.

I think the PA is going to wash its hands of the guy. They told him not to appeal the 4 game suspension. 

15 games and we have 2 ejections from games, 3 fines for dirty plays and a 4 game suspension. Now we have this. Ban the SOB. Oh course, according to Rider fans its all a witch hunt.

Apparently some dude made it appear that if Collaros wasnt hurt, it shouldn’t be a penalty. Later the comment was clarified. 
 

bears do eat fish on fridays and the pope refers to his kaka as a log.
