I actually laughed at this on cfl.ca:   The scene: A backwoods cabin, far from civilization. A fully-bearded Justin Medlock looks up and stops chopping wood as he spies a dark sedan with a r

True. But all in all Id much rather we sign lirim (who just worked out for washington) sergio castillo (who had 2 work outs at the end of july but no deal) or Maher (who last got worked out at the end of sept but also got no contract.) And save the draft pick.

Is Ward up for FA this year?

Castillo come on down!

RIP mourtada

So he opted out of his BC contract to go to the NFL. So does this trade force him back to the CFL, or did we just acquire his rights but he can still opt out for the NFL even under contract to us?

I don't remember Castillo's body of work.  Good pick up?

Pretty sure we can't force him to come here, right?

I'd imagine... he's on his way here but 4th rd pick suggests nothing is for sure

You gotta think they've been in contact with Castillo and he's interested in coming up.

That's a great diamond in the rough find, if he comes.

I guess we need to entice him to come up here?

I would think we can’t, but I am not sure how this NFL option stuff works. Perhaps this is why we got him for a 4th rounder, if it is only his rights but not the body we traded for (let’s see who wails about giving up precious CFL draft picks, lol).

I think it's safe to assume Walter's doesn't make this trade without some sort of agreement with Castillo

What that is? Dunno. But I'd imagine Walter's is aware of Sergios intentions

I just don't see Walters giving up an asset for a maybe?  You'd think they would of talked to him already and seen his interest.

Jeff Hamilton says they've been working on this for a while, so obviously, Walters has called Castillo. I can't imagine trading for someone who wouldn't report, unless the pick is conditional upon him actually playing.

 Gabriel Ferraro too apparently.

Ok, this would suggest Castillo is not a slam dunk to come here if they are stockpiling kickers. Sounds like training camp auditions 2.0 going on right now.
TBurg called it back in pre-season when he said they shouldn’t just gift the job to Liegghio and should bring in some competition. Oh well, I guess week 11 is better than nothing.

Oh my god, that's Castillo's music!

Which of course was ridiculous to say when we had Crapigna here.

Could be that Castillo wants to continue his NFL dreams next year and we'll be in the same boat then.  Doesn't hurt to bring in more legs to try out.
