Bomber Moves 2018

Sorry but I don't like the total silence coming out of Bomberville, but that's just me; I like action and news  like all of you.  Yes we've extended a contract or two and we are distributing the year-end money before the 2018 salary cap  comes in.

But what are the deep thinkers in our organization planning to do?

I hope they are not thinking status quo; that never seems to work out well. Unless we are dedicated to making sharp improvements here and there, I believe we atrophy from last year.

After the 2017 NFL cuts were made did we bring in any linebackers for a sniff? I saw other prospects up here but maybe I missed something.

We have got to fix what's broken and I think somehow management must know more than we do ... we are good prognosticators with our comments on this site but I would like management to show us up.

We are not hearing a lot of news out of the Calgary and Edmonton football clubs so maybe our Blue Bombers are an elite club now (as we join those two in their silence).

But man I hate twiddling my thumbs as I wait to see what our local gurus are going to do. No news is bad news, say the bored ...  Well at least were not coming off seasons like Ottawa Hamilton and Montréal had.

So maybe I should be grateful for our club and its management.

Say what you will about Mike O'Shea but no one can ever overstate how valuable he has been in turning around the perception and culture of this franchise.

  • TSN1290 reporting that SK offered the most money, but he chose Winnipeg.

If Heath were that selfish and only cared about making INTs, he wouldn't be a back-to-back All-Star, much less a highly prized potential free agent.

OMG! It's almost as if voters only look at stats........

Interesting Tweet from Travis Bond....

“Bond not mobile to play T” but when I did play it in 2016 and 2017 I don’t recall giving up a sack... better check the film again and not look at the outlook buddy?. But I get it it’s your job to stir up something??... thanks for the motivation?

I love Bond and he deserves to be paid but in our current cap situation I don't think it's plausible to be paying big money for an American Guard. If he was a tackle he would be locked up by now.. but regardless he's going to get paid and he's going to be a huge upgrade to what ever team he goes to.

I'd be in the sign Randle camp for certain. He's been the most reliable corner we've possibly ever had as long as I've been a Bomber fan. Travis Bond is an exceptional American playing a traditionally Canadian position. I can see us getting by without Bond, but being lost in the desert without Randle. Simply put, Bond is a luxury; Randle is a necessity.

Would have rather let Hardrick walk and roll the dice on Bond as our RT.  I'm quite sure he can do it.

would we want to be without our starting RT (possibly for good) if he lands a gig down south tho?

I think there will be takers for a CFL All Star RT in a trade.

I have a tough time envisioning Bond getting another NFL shot at nearly 28 years old.  But you're right that is a risk.

oh me too.. but he could end up on a PR and that team could injure 2 guards in a PS game then boom, hes rostered, possiby for a year and we would have to start considering Neufeld back at tackle if bryant or Hardrick went down. *shudder*

I'd take Bond over Hardrick and Foketi...

It doesn't have to be a choice between Randle and Bond - other teams can afford to keep their core together.

Calgary's been the best team in the league since forever, and they lose good players in FA every year. The key to their success is being able to replace good players, not necessarily bringing all the same players back every season.

No offence at all to Bond, but I'd argue Randle is more of the "core" of this team than Bond.

Our OL solidified once Bond was inserted at LG...  we are quickly forgetting how average the OL was before that

Totally agree... but we are likely replacing Bond with Neufeld - we're just bringing back the wrong guys imo (Neufeld, Hardrick, Foketi instead of Bond...)

How many players can the Bombers truly say we have the best at their position in the league?

Probably just Stanley Bryant and Travis Bond.  And it looks like we're going to let one walk.  That's too bad.
