Canadian Politics

I didn't think we had a thread for this.

Is Trudeau this out of touch or does he just not care?

The holocaust comparisons have me legit sick to my stomach. There is not one thing in Canada going on right now that compares to the start of the holocaust. No red flags. Not a one. They built the f

Huh, that was pretty good. When did he actually grow into the role?

Mocking Poilievre is like shooting fish in a barrel.

seems that Winnipeg is the only place in Canada making changes by public vote right now (noticeable change)

Heather knows her time as Premier is done so why not get it over as soon as possible, also people in Winnipeg please don't vote Murray in as mayor, he will leave at the first opportunity for a better chance in politics or private business. It all about clout with him plus I just find him unlikeable.

Someone at CTV is gettng fired for this

the odd thing is I was watching CTV earlier and they actually did call it for Murray

How amateurish is it for them to call the vote when it was only at 50% calculated with such a slim lead and then for them to leave and go to regular programming.

CTV, we really don't care about the election call it for Murray and let's get back to programming that makes us money

They were literally interviewing Gillingham's campaign and asking them for thoughts on such a disappointing night, with their own numbers showing him leading by 2000. It was surreal.

we are not going to hear the end of this for awhile are we?

and Glen Murray is mayor again

well this is going to age badly very soon, I didn't even vote for Gillingham

Idiocy like this from the media just fuels the distrust people have with polls and elections in the present-day. Allows the muckrakers to yell “fraud” and erode the Democratic process.

I've covered every election for my media outlet for the last 15 years. #1 rule: It's more important to be right than it is to be first.

Well done Winnipeg

So I'm an outsider who knows nothing about Gillingham.... Anyone wanna give me the Coles Notes on this guy? Seems like a big finance guy.... Where does he fall in terms of the antivaxxer/freedoms crowd?

He's posted pictures of himself getting vaxxed and he spoke out against at least one anti-mask protest so he's, at the very least, not a complete moron.

A couple of snippets I’ve read from past websites say that he was a Pentecostal pastor for 12 years before entering politics. Counsellor for St. James, ran for the Provincial PC party in 2011, was declared “anti-dog” because he did not vote for dog parks in his area, also had no position on bike paths. Will raise property taxes by 3.5% annually for the next 3 years to finance his agenda which includes widening Kenaston Blvd. and other road repairs. Was a past Chair of the Winnipeg Police Board, and a board member of the Silver Heights C. C. and Assiniboia 55+ Centre, was on the Airport Advisory Board, and initiated a Winnipeg Harvest Food Bank in the city.
