Sask. putting on their belligerent hat to keep pace with the idjits in Alberta.  They're threatening to change their constitution to protect their economic interests, ie. burning coal for power and saying no to the carbon tax. 2035 is creeping up on them and they haven't done a damn thing to transition to NG power generation, although they've had 50 years to think about it.  MB. closed their last coal powered plant in 2002, Sask. wasn't even paying attention.

I guess Moe must have been caught drinking and driving again? Or hanging with violent murderers? Cause this is bananas.

Moe and Smith are in lockstep on their agendas. Complete lunatics, the both of them. The ideas they have about bypassing federal rules/laws won't/can't work....im sure they know that, but they also know its a dogwhistle that makes them popular among their lunatic fanbase.

I was thinking about Trump and this kind of thing. nothing he does loses fans.

maybe some of these people understand  that Trump is a liar and a cheat, but admire him cause he gets away with it.

ie...  he

"beats the system" the system, which his followers  seem to hate.

there were crooks throughout history, who have been admired by many people.

I think the one closer to the truth is he emulates who they truly are as people. He has given them a clearer path to show their true colors, less need to hide it and a feeling of strength in numbers.

A former member of Justin Trudeau's security team may have leaked the prime minister's schedule, according to an intelligence document tabled before the inquiry investigating the federal government's use of the Emergencies Act last winter.

An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) "person of interest" profile citing the RCMP says a former RCMP officer is "believed to have leaked the prime minister's schedule a few months ago." The document is dated January 30, 2022.

The document said the individual — whose name is redacted — resigned from the RCMP in 2021 in response to the federal government's vaccine mandate for Mounties. The mandate went into effect on October 6, 2021.

The document — again citing the RCMP — said that the individual was also a sniper and intelligence officer. The document did not indicate who received the leaked information.

"[Redacted] has been very vocal on social media in his belief that the vaccine mandates are in violation of the Canadian Constitution," the document says.

when profit is mixed with public health care.

"Medicare recipients, beware," she added. "And as citizens and taxpayers, we should all demand that Congress take Medicare out of the hands of corporations, freeing billions of dollars in savings to deliver actual healthcare."

Insurance giants are exploiting Medicare Advantage—a corporate-managed program that threatens to result in the complete privatization of traditional Medicare—to capture billions of dollars in extra profits, Saturday reporting by The New York Times confirmed.

"Medicare Advantage shouldn't exist."

The newspaper's analysis of dozens of lawsuits, inspector general reports, and watchdog investigations found that overbilling by Medicare Advantage (MA) providers is so pervasive it exceeds the budgets of entire federal agencies, prompting journalist Ryan Cooper to call the program "a straight up fraud scheme."

Nearly half of Medicare's 60 million beneficiaries are now enrolled in MA plans managed by for-profit insurance companies, and it is expected that most of the nation's seniors will be ensnared in the private-sector alternative to traditional Medicare by next year. Six weeks ago, Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) launched an inquiry into "potentially deceptive" marketing tactics used by MA providers to "take advantage" of vulnerable individuals.

As the table below shows, almost every major player in the industry has been accused of fraud by a whistleblower or the U.S. government. In addition, the vast majority are engaged in rampant upcoding, or exaggerating patients' illnesses in order to reap more money from taxpayers—something they do while refusing to provide necessary care for tens of thousands each year.

Larry Levitt, executive vice president for health policy at Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF), which has has no connection with Kaiser Permanente, wrote on social media that "the move to privatize Medicare" has "been very profitable, in part because insurers are good at making their patients seem sicker."

every nickel that goes for ceo pay, advertising, administration, and profit, comes out of money intended for actual health care. cost reduction = more profit.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Monday that his government is willing to repeal legislation that imposed a contract on education workers and took away their right to strike if the Canadian Union Public Employees (CUPE) ends its ongoing walkout.

Ford made the announcement at a morning news conference alongside Education Minister Stephen Lecce.

Some 55,000 CUPE education workers walked off the job on Friday after contract negotiations fell apart, forcing schools across the province to close to in-person learning.

The union has framed the action as a political protest against Bill 28, which also included the notwithstanding clause to circumvent any constitutional challenge to the legislation. The clause allows legislatures to override parts of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms for a five-year term.

And, of course, he lied about opening up the greenbelt.

We deserve to watch our country going into the toilet for electing this trash. From East to West, the "conservatives" are carving up the country for their own pockets and turning voters against one-another. Soon, we'll lose everything.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford told Prime Minister Justin Trudeau he felt Ottawa police and the mayor mismanaged the Freedom Convoy protest and reopening the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, Ont., was the priority, according to a readout of a call the two politicians shared in February.

As part of evidence presented at the inquiry into the Emergencies Act on Tuesday, the readout shows Ford said "police are a little shy" and "if I could direct the police, I would" as he told Trudeau the Ontario government was looking for ways to give officers more tools to clear the bridge blockade.

Windsor was among Canadian cities hit by demonstrations against pandemic mandates. The Ambassador Bridge international crossing is at Canada's busiest land border, and responsible for hundreds of millions of dollars in trade with the United States, something Ford mentioned during the call.

"It's costing $500 [million] to 600 million of trade, and we'll be up to $3.1 billion by tomorrow," said Ford.

Trudeau replied that there needed to be a quick response to what he believed was an illegal protest.

"You shouldn't need more tools — legal tools — they are barricading the Ontario economy and doing millions of damage a day and harming people's lives," the prime minister said.

He said the International Bridges and Tunnels Act means they fall under federal government responsibility, but the road the protesters were blocking was in Windsor's municipal jurisdiction.

"The police of jurisdiction needs to do their job," Trudeau said. "If they're saying they can't do it because they don't have enough officers or equipment, we need to remove that excuse as soon as possible so they can do their work and we can prevent Ontario becoming a laughing stock."

Ford replied that if he could direct police, he would.

"I can't direct them. I can't call them and say, 'Get your asses in there and kicking ass.' It's up to the OPP," said Ford, according to the readout.

In Ontario, Ford was seen as a viable alternative to his predecessor, who managed to piss off voters en masse. The voters gambled that the PCs had learned their lessons from being out of power for so long, but they have reverted to who they are at heart. It is far easier to destroy than create.

An abortion rights activist was asked to turn her shirt inside out to gain entry to the Saskatchewan Legislature as a visitor Wednesday.

Megan Johnston launched a billboard campaign this summer focused on the phrase Abortion is Health Care.

Johnston's shirt had the same phrase.

She and abortion rights groups and providers were at the Saskatchewan Legislature on Wednesday as guests of the Opposition to call for the provincial government to improve abortion access.

The groups attended question period inside the legislature.

Johnston said that when she took her coat off after entering the building, security at the front entrance told her she had to change.

"I could not wear my shirt into the building and I had to turn it inside out," she said. "I was escorted by security to the bathroom to ensure my shirt was turned inside out so that word — I'm assuming 'abortion' not 'health care' — was not visible in the room."

But I thought conclowns supported free speech...?

This is why Ford moved Heaven and Earth to avoid testifying under oath. He sounded as incompetent as the once-premier of Ontario who was a golf pro but willing to recite anything he was told to utter.

Ok...but does any of that indicate that Ford wanted the Emergency Measures Act? Sounds to me like he was bogged down in bureaucracy and jurisdiction more than he demonstrated incompetence.

Sounds more to me that he wanted someone else to handle it so he didn't have to.  Same as every other conservative premier. They knew this was a problem that needed resolved but they didn't want to go against people who vote for them.

Which is why the feds had to step in.

Ford did not want to alienate his base yet wanted to be seen doing something.

The same scenario in AB., Kenney begged the Feds. to send in the military to tow away vehicles blocking the border crossing at Coutts, that way he could point his finger at Trudeau and say it wasn't him who stepped in and ruined the party.

As did Stefanson in Manitoba. The same pattern for all of them - demand action privately, criticize publicly to win political points. Morons accept their narrative without question then mindlessly repeat F Trudeau... - Manitoba premier trying 'to have it both ways' in messaging on border protests: political observers | CBC News

In a Feb. 11 letter, Heather Stefanson urged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to take "immediate and effective action" to deal with a border blockade that began at the Emerson, Man., crossing a day earlier.

Stefanson's letter to Trudeau warned of "dangers" and "hardships" the Emerson blockade would impose on Manitobans, and said the situation would "require the reasoned and balanced national leadership that only you and the federal government can provide."

Days later, she publicly opposed his invocation of emergency legislation giving the federal government greater power to intervene against such protests.
