He could easily turn this in his favour by showing some real strength and saying "yeah the president is ill, maybe evenly seriously ill, but he's fighting this and has seen the light and will be tackling this issue with redoubled efforts when he is healthy" But no he is sticking to the lie and winds up looking worse since the leaks all say he is being a coward about this.
