Club adds International OL releases DL K Fraser, OL D Tyler
ddanger replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Agreed. And perhaps if the LG is improved the C might play better. -
I like this trade and Mr Morley needs to clear those rose-coloured glasses his buddy Chris hasn't been playing that well.
-
I read further and see that Longo's American. Doesn't matter Greaves was awful last game. It wasn't Picard who allowed two sacks it was Greaves. They sat him earlier this year, and brought him back because of injuries.
-
Is Longo Canadian??
-
Not sure what the complaining is all about with the kicker. Greaves was flat-out awful yesterday, and needs to go back to the bench.

You may want to review the offensice game stats before trying to defend that statements. Its probably not all his fault, but he was nowhere good enough to be a starter in any league except maybe the Lingerie League. I didn't see much of the game, but from what I saw it looked like Brohm was aiming the ball rather than throwing it, and although he appeared to have slightly more zip than I've seen previously, the ball still travels very slowly. Watch Burris throw the ball, especially his "fast ball". That's something Brohm will never have and he's 9nyears younger than Burris!

I listened to the coaches show last week on the radio. Pretty lame really. If you actually listen to what he says, he doesn't say anything. The vanilla questions he gives an answer, but anything to the point, there's no reply. Does Paul Maurice really give an answer to a question??? Not. They don't want to reveal anything that may give the other team an advantage.

[MERGED] Low Down, Rock Bottom (Stone Cold Stunned?)
ddanger replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I believe we changed upwards of 20 players this year. We never win the Labour Day game, and we had to know the roughies would be fired up for their new coach. Our offence was putrid, and while it's the qb who executes the plays, he simply executes the play he's told to run. Brohm is not the answer, that's glaringly apparent. But MB gives the orders for the plays, and I, like many others, believe that this mess is primarily his fault. Fire him, promote from within, and move on. -
Marcel Bellefeuille - When does he get axed
ddanger replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I posted this into another thread, but Greaves was flat out awful today. I watched him directly give up 2 sacks in 3 plays. He was sat earlier for a reason, and that was pretty clear today. Fire MB quickly please!! -

I think they said on the radio that the Bombers had around 51 offensive plays in the entire game, and Sask had that number in the 2nd half. -
I was only able to watch half of the third, and all of the fourth quarter. Greaves gave up 2 sacks in 3 plays early in the 4th I think. He was brutal.

Who gives us the best chance to win the LDC?
ddanger replied to Harbaugh's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We just don't know what to expect in this game. Perhaps the Riders will come out pumped about the new coach, and perhaps the Bombers will come out flat because of the ineptitude of the skipper. Or, will both crappy teams continue to soil their respective beds?? Could be a decent game, but if the weather is bad then it might not even be that. Honestly I'm not excited about the game, I voted for Davis because I think we know what Brohm brings, and there's no way we use Nichols, 2 practices isn't enough. -
I also feel we have issues throughout the organization, from talent to coaching to managerial staff and I EXPECT some serious soul-searching at the end. My family has 4 season tickets and I don't know at this time how many, if any, will be renewed.

Great thread.....Lots of thought and effort and good discussion. We need more of this.

I totally agree that our scouting department seems to be lacking compared to other teams. Look at all the injuries in Calgary, and they just keep rolling. Imagine if we lost 2 Canadian o'linemen?? And they didn't miss a beat.

Bombers Release QB Russell & RB Thomas
ddanger replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Surprised about the quarterback. Given our depth at the position I'd expected he would stay. We now have 2 on the 6 game list so their contracts don't count against the cap, so we certainly have room there. Maybe they told him not to leave town. -
When my son played for the Rifles a few years ago he pulled his hamstring, and missed 3 games ( and they had a bye week ). But really, his hamstring wasn't the same until well into the off-season. A serious hamstring could easily be 6 weeks.
-
That's exactly what you don't want to say to a QB starting his first game of the season. Or any game for that matter. I wouldn't actually tell him that but... I would certainly be thinking it. He's gotta know it's time to **** or get off the pot anyways. I mean, Nichols was brought in, Davis is getting some reps too... Brohm has got to know that his time is coming to an end.Of course he knows this. I expect the pressure, both internal and external on Brohm this week will be huge. I'm sure he knows his career as a professional football player hangs in the balance. I really struggle to understand why we kept him ( and to a lesser extent Marve ) into this season. One or both of them should've been released prior to camp.

I like your comment "Drew Willy light". The next part about Canadian water boys is offensive to anyone who has ever had a child play football and dream of the CFL.
-
What happened to him??

If I were Wade miller I would...

i am not writing off the season nor am I am troll as someone suggested. However, I am concerned about where this team and this season is heading. The purpose of this post was more of a 'what if' scenario because the Grey Cup is in our back yard and I belieleve tha twhile they made big moves (picking up Stanley Bryant, Picard and re-upping Willy) that was done with a 'rebuild' in mind. How much different would this team had looked if they had gone into the offseason with a 'let's get a cup this season' and rebuild after. I know people on here like to be pragmatic and are very rational but on this bye-week with no game to talk about I thought why not pose this question. Thanks to those who have taken this post it in the good nature it was intended. Signing Picard for 200k and Bryant to a lesser extent are not rebuilding moves. Picard would be lucky if he could make it through this season, he's done. He's not going to be playing in a couple years for sure. How is that a "rebuilding" move? Just does not make sense. Picard is a perfect example of Walters going all in for the Grey Cup and all in on improving our o'line. I doubt he's here next year, I think he's done. -
Doesn't hurt to look at the guy, we're paying him $500/week so that won't kill us either. And it may serve as a reminder to all the other guys to not get complacent.
-
And I feel bad for Daniels, hopefully he can recover to play for us next year. We all need to realize and appreciate the injuries that these young men incur playing this game, and the long term affects that these injuries have on these young men.

Tracker I musta missed something here....is there a rumour going around that he was hung over?? I saw them putting a cold towel over his head a few times, I'm assuming he was having trouble with the heat, which was, as we all know, outrageous at game time. A friend of mine does security there and was on the field, he said that it was much hotter on the field than in the stands. I have a seriously hard time believing that he was hung over. If you read back a page or two, the poster who said that in the gameday thread indicated that he posted that report as humour. Okay good thanks.
