I understand the appeal of playing in Toronto it's a great city not my cup of tea, but for me I wanna play in a mostly full building and not in front of barely 10k patrons.

It's fun to play in front of a whole crowd, but I'm sure it's pretty low on the priority list when you're negotiating a contract.

My main concern would be housing. If I'm moving from Edmonton/Regina/Winnipeg to got to Toronto or Vancouver - they better be paying a housing bonus or have some off the books living accomadations.

Huh, interesting take- how do you figure?

So, full disclosure, I didn't read the list so I don't know which services you're even talking about.

But taking a local example - why does MPI spend money on billboards and commercials when we have no choice but to go through them?

(And if I'm talking out of my butt here and this is completely different let me know).

According to two articles from the same source, Brown, a complete unknown, is making more hard money with a higher signing bonus than Adams & his maximum is just $10K lower than Adams signed for last year.

What I'd like to know, and I haven't found out, is what Adams is scheduled to make in '24. It's likely higher, but that doesn't change the fact that Brown is making out like a bandit because Ottawa is a crap team that has to overpay to get players, just like we used to be.

Yes, Adams outplayed his contract. Whether he already negotiated a raise or will during his next contract is besides the point. His value before this season was a sometimes starter sometimes back-up, which is why his salary was in the lowest tier.

Brown, as an unproven starter, was placed in the same tier. Every other starting QB is making more. I have no idea why you're so focused on Adams, ignoring every other pivot and their deals.

Opinion: The redblacks overpaid him because they are a crap team that has to overpay to get the players they want just like we used to have to.

I don't want to to beat this to death too much longer, but I don't really understand how you consider it an overpay.

He will be either the lowest paid or in the lowest tier of being paid. How much lower than the next lowest paid starter can a team reasonably be expected to pay?

Depends who starts in Ham....BLM is under now too correct?....obviously Powell is too....and whomever else they sign

I'm not counting them at the moment because they don't have a "starter". They have two back-ups who will most likely each get starts. So, in that case, there may not be one guy in Hamilton who makes more than Brown.

All teams who know have an expected starter will be paying over 400k.

His contract was reworked and extended on Feb 8/2023 thru the 2024 season. According to Dunk he was to get over 400k for 2023 prior to his contract extension. Stands to reason that he definitely did not rip up that contract and extend for less. I would hazard a guess that he is definitely in the 450-500k range for last year, and this coming season.

    https://3downnation.com/2023/02/08/b-c-lions-extend-contract-of-qb-vernon-adams-jr-through-2024/

I forgot this one, so Dru Brown will be the only starter making less than 400k.

    2022

    week 1

Brady has 10 carries for 17 and Johnny gets 3 carries for 10.

    week 2

    Brady 14 for 48 and Johnny 7 for 43.

    week 3

    Brady 15 for 56, Johnny 2 for 3.

    week 4

    Brady 7 for 28, Johnny 1 for -1

    week 5

7 for 39 for Brady and Johnny 12 for 57

    week 6

    Brady 9 for 8 and Johnny 7 for 33

So the first 6 weeks of 22, BO is 62 for 176 which is 2.8 ypc and Winnipeg never switched to Augustine as the starting rb. Its not happening. He was 32 for 145 or 4.3 ypc which isn't great either.

This is what I keep saying.

I'm saying he's better then Brown and once Zach retires I'd rather him over Brown.

Well, I massively disagree with your explanation, though I agreed with the original point.

Assuming Zach plays the majority of games, Strev is so much more valuable to us than Brown.

If we were replacing Zach, I want to roll with Brown (and still hopefully have Strev).

He’d be a good guy to split reps, like what Hamilton used to try to do. Go ni rb extra imp wr package. Or go imp rb or two back etc. home run hitter with an ni pass port. He’s not consistent, he can’t grind out yards, isn’t a capable catcher or blocker. If Augustine becomes the starter people will be off his bandwagon faaast. Just doesn’t work with our o.

But this staff has refused to do that. Even when Brady was struggling.

To think they're going to give him a starting opportunity is laughable.

  10. 13 minutes ago, Booch said:

How do you know he's gonna be the starter tho?...Crum is coming back ...same system...2nd yr in it, and if the coaching there gets better....he may outright win the starter spot

And as It is now the QB on that roster with the most upside in my opinion is that Admas...so curious to see how he looks when he is healed up

and totally this...they paying lil more in advance now, thinking he will be the next big thing...He could just become another in the long line of Jennings..Franklins...Arbuckles...I'd even throw Maier into that right now too....Wish him well, but he wanted to get paid...as well as have the chance to start....but if he was so sure of it too....Why not come to camp here as well on a one yr deal, with incentives and a clause if he beats out ZC outright...he will be compensated.....Everyone wants to start no doubt...this was more about getting paid decently now, as opposed to being payed fair now for the opportunity to be paid large later here

We at least know the Redblacks hope and expect he’s going to be the starter. That’s why they traded for him and are paying him a starting salary.

$290K is the hard money. $340K is what he could earn if he starts all the games and hits all the bonuses. Big overpay IMO.

They are paying a starters salary to a guy who has yet to become a starter. At $290K he's making more than Adams, the third best QB in the league last year & BLM ($225K hard money) & Masoli ($133K Hard Money) all vets with tons of experience, although BLM and Masoli also have huge injury issues & should have retired IMO.

My guess on top QB contracts:

Collaros, Harris, Fajardo, MBT, Maier, Brown. (One of these QB's is not like the others)

He’s going to be a starter so you have to pay him as a starter.

He will not be among the highest paid, I’m not sure you have a guy who’s going to get 340 in the same list as Zach and Kelly (you actually forgot Kelly) who are making 600k.

He’s pretty much making the bare minimum amount.

And yeah, just to touch on something earlier - the people who are mad at Brady are nuts.

Do you guys go to your jobs and work for less money voluntarily? Of course the guy wants to maximize his earnings. Just like literally the entire world. Get over it.

I 100% support players getting all they can - you notice no one is saying anything negative about Dalton.

But trying to do any negotiating in the media never works out well for the player. He made a bit of a mistake there, I think.

Brady is not worth any way thing near Nic Demski  ($175k+)...  I expect BO will be offered around 140 with incentives = $150k take it or leave it

That's a weird comparable for me because I think I'd rather have Brady on the team, but it brings up the salary differentials that RBs can't stand. Because he produced so much more than Demski did the season, yet has to be told that's too much money for him. I get it, but to an RB, it must not make much sense.

BTW, I'm sure Walters has already offered much more than your take it or leave it offer.

I have nothing against you Jesse. I don't even know why we argue. If you don't agree with my take on something then by all means ask me about it. I like to discuss. Rolling eyes mean nothing because I don't know the point you're making.. Let's call a truce.

    Okay! ;)

I love the eye rolling emoji. Definitely not going to stop using it.

I have a personal agenda against Investors group, so I'm fine that they won't be keeping the name.

For what it's worth Princess Auto has a lot of roots in Wpg. The family members I know seem pretty solid. And they own TCB so expect more availability!!

Any business is going to sound dumb as a stadium name.

I wish we could just call it Stegall Field or something.
