I have nothing but love for Coach Wylie.
Yes, I do too! That's why I want the guy around for many more years!!

I'm nervous for the game. Everything's against us. We should lose by 40...
...but if we can make some big plays - returns, sacks (Fajardo meet Mr. Jefferson), picks, or even some big runs by the Strevelator...we might just do it.

Tim Burke was the worst head coach I have ever seen this team have and that's saying something.
It's sort of the chicken and egg argument again buddy. He had terrible talent to deal with. If he had great talent, who knows what could have happened. Maybe he was a bad head coach. I don't know. But when you have a great QB and lots of talent you can make even a bad coach look decent. (Heh, even I could have coached the Gretzky-led Edmonton Oilers to multiple Stanley Cups)

Derel Walker wouldn't have done any better with the offence the Bombers run.
Agreed. And we would have cut him too!

Except Darvin Adams is a big production player on this offence...
Adams is needed on this team. But even before his injury he wasn't in the top 10 in receiving in the league.

Sounds like it wasn't. Jeff Hamilton seems to think its because as a Vet hes due his full salary after the 1st. Pretty apparent its lack of production for 2 much money.
Well, as others have said, the way our offense is structured NO offensive player is going to be a big production player in this offense (except Andrew Harris). Rightly or wrongly, it is what it is.

I wouldn't be surprised if he signs with Calgary again...and lights it up against us again.

I pretty much expect a Bomber loss every year on Labour Day.... records be damned... I've felt that way ever since he 7-1 vs 1-7 fiasco...
Yeah, it goes back even further than that. I was so confident the year the Riders started their 3RD STRING QB Rocky Butler who was probably a worse passer than Streveler...and we get beat.
We also lost in 1990, 1988, and 1984, years we won the Grey Cup.

First practice is tomorrow.
That's just stupid! Sorry, I know practice breaks are planned ahead of time, but really! The new RB needs time with Streveler and what? they practice Wednesday and Thursday? Maybe Friday or is that a walk-thru day? Travel Saturday I assume..
-
Any word from practice on who is getting the majority of reps with the 1st team offense - Augustine or Santiago? Is Santiago even practicing with the 1st team? I can't find anything from Irving or Bauming...

Giving a team to the Maritimes is a huge mistake. If they really wanted a team they'd have packed the park. They didn't. This whole thing is a joke. That's all the CFL needs is another team in constant financial crisis.
Anyone know what the attendance was for the game vs. what the park holds?

We just beat the Esks. with Streveler...I think Edm. is a better team with a better qb....No reason why we can't knock them off in their own barn
Yes even though Streveler is not a top rated passer, I think the Riders might underestimate his running. The Esks knew he was going to run and they still couldn't stop him.

Ah Labour Day! living in SK is bad enough for a Bomber fan like me the rest of the year, but this weekend ( and next) it gets amped up to a whole new level.
The media around here (Regina, Saskatoon) have been relentless in minimizing the Bombers accomplishments and telling us how great the Riders are (5 game win streak). I've heard numerous times that Streveler is no threat and that the Riders will sweep the series.
Please Bombers, please, please win. I don't care if it's 3-2. Just win.

Yes, a crossover spot is all but a sure thing again.

The Halifax expansion is a bad idea for many reasons, but hearing the ownership group talking about playing in 2021 and "playing a couple seasons" in Moncton while a stadium is built in Nova Scotia is complete lunacy. They'll be bankrupt before they play a game in their stadium. Based on the crowds showing to these games they are likely to lose $10-15 million a season on operations in Moncton, plus the initial costs of starting up.
There's truly no benefit to the league. Is TSN going to cough up a bunch of money because there's now a team in the coveted Atlantic TV market of half a million people?
I tend to agree with this comment. I've always thought the best places for expansion would be Quebec City or Saskatoon. I hope it works in Atlantic Canada...but I have my doubts.

I wonder what the Bombers are going to do when all our DE's get healthy? Jefferson and Jackson and Roh and Kongbo and now this new guy...an abundance of riches if all are healthy. Roh and McCallister might sit ( and yet Roh led our team in sacks last year).

we were saying how both Bennett and McGuire outplayed him for the #2. Now, I'm cheering hard for Streveler, and I'd love that he use these next several games to stake his claim to the #1 job and never give it back. Having said that, I just don't feel like he's gonna do it. Prove me wrong, Strevelation.....
I think McGuire outplayed Streveler in pre-season.

It would be nice if we could wait around until a few low on the depth chart NFL QB's get cut. Not that they could step in right away
. I suspect though that the Bombers will sign someone late this week or early next week with CFL experience. I'm guessing Willy or Bridge.
Yeah, it would take most nfl guys 2-3 yrs to play up to level here....some would never adjust.

Okay, I'll play. I think Don Jonas is an option. If he can play & play well at 34 then why can't he at 79?
That reminds me of a story I once heard about Gordie Howe. A number of years ago a reporter asked him, "If you played in today's NHL, how many goals would you score?" Gordie answered, "30!" The reporter queried further, "Only 30?" Gordie shot back, " What do you expect from a 75 year old!"

Santiago must feel pretty bummed out. No Way he's ever going to get onto this roster.
