The bombers havent been pulling the numbers i would expect for a 5-1 top of the league squad. A bunch of people talked about how this would be a for sure sell out and I just dont see it. Its pre season NFL. Thats as dull as football gets.

Anyone recall how many people Toronto drew for those exhibition  Buffalo Bills games?

Yikes, too bad for Hammy and the league. We need our marquee players on the field.

Agreed we need our best players on the field, but this injury had nothing to do with the new rules that protect QB's         ( and I realize you weren't arguing this). In fact, I can think of a few QB injuries where it was just a "freak" thing.Sad for Masoli though. Opens up the east now. I wonder if Toronto is now thinking, "So you say there's a chance!"

Darvin is obviously imperative to the success of this receiving group. He and to a lesser extent Lawler are the only guys who can both have the speed to get downfield at a reasonable rate AND have a chance in a jump ball scenario. Once Wolitarsky was out too, we essentially had no shot. Walker and Lucky are gadget players at this point in time and while I like Petermann, he thrives at most 10 yards beyond the LOS at this point in his career. I wholeheartedly disagree with Lapo not even calling anything to give these receivers a chance to make a play downfield but it was smurf show + Lawler by the end of the game.

I'm thinking Chris Matthews would have made a difference in the ball game (had he been in for Lawler). He's got more CFL experience and more size ( but alas, we will never know.)

Although on 2nd thought, when you have 5-6 turnovers, it wouldn't have mattered if Milt Stegall was in there...

I would agree.  Probably going to sound like this.

Bob: Welcome to the coaches show, as usual, we have Bombers Head Coach Mike O'Shea with us.  Mike, that was quite a game on Friday.  But before we get into it, let's take a quick break for commercials

    - 20 minutes later -

Bob: So Mike, any thoughts on the way your team played on Friday?

Mike: Well, I was fairly happy.  Matt looked sharp and we...

Bob: Sorry to cut in Mike but we need to take a break.  We'll be right back...

    - 10 minutes later -

Bob:  We have a caller, Terry from Calgary, what's your question?

Terry:  Bombers suck, life sucks, all is darkness and sorrow .  <click>

Bob: Ummm, that wasn't a question.  So Mike, any update on the injury situation with Adam Bighill or Lucky Whitehead?

Mike: As usual, we're not going to talk abou...

Bob:  Sorry again Mike but it's time for another quick break.

    - 15 minutes later -

Bob: we're back with Bomber head coach Mike O'Shea and we have another caller.  Chip what's your question for Coach O'Shea?

Chip: When are you gonna cut Nichols.  He's bad.  I know he's bad.

Mike: Umm, we're 5-0 right now so...

Chip: Doesn't matter.  He's bad.  Not one 300 yard passing game.  Cut him

Mike: Probably not going to do that

Chip:  You got a bunch of bad players there Mike.  Give me a call some time and I'll go over it with you. My number is 204 <click>

Bob: We seem to have lost Chip

    Mike:  What a shame.

Bob: We have 1 more caller, I didn't get his name.  Caller are you there?

Caller: I love Big Chris!  Big Chris, he's so dreamy.

Bob: So do you have a question?

    Caller:  BIG CHRIS <click>

Bob: Well, we've only got about 12 minutes left and 15 minutes worth of commercials, so we're going to have to wrap things up.  Thanks Mike.

    Mike: Your wel...

    - more bloody commercials -

    Absolutely brilliant!!!

Its been the perfect scenario for Nichols this year and full marks to him. He's a proven winner when he's got a solid team around him and he doesn't have to force things. He can let the game come to him. He'll never be Tom Brady and rally his team down 25 at the half, throwing for 450 yards to steal victory from the jaws of defeat, but that's ok. Im convinced this team can win it all with him at the helm and that's all that matters.

Agreed. The last 2 Grey Cups that we won we had Tom Burgess & Sean Salisbury as our QB's - yeah we had A LOT of talent around them.
