Bob Cameron holds the record for most attempts (188) and most total punting yards (8,214), both records were set during the 1988 season. This is according to the official 2017 CFL record book, as the 2018 one hasn't been released yet.
Yes, interesting isn't it! We had a bad offense that year, led by Sean Salisbury, and yet we won the Grey Cup with a lights out defense.
If we are a top 3 team in each category this year (offense, defense, special teams), which I think is quite attainable, we will be very successful (so says Captain Obvious).

This years team is very different than last years team.
We've drafted pretty well since Walters took over, getting 3 all stars in 5 years. We lost all of them in the off season.
We've replaced 2 NI all star OL with guys who have a start or two under their belt or are rookies.
We lost our WIL and our shutdown corner.
We lost our all star safety who we are replacing with a guy who didn't win the spot out of TC last year as he got hurt in game 3 having not played safety at all. He is coming off of a big injury and is currently on the vet injured list.
We lost some veteran backups like Wild, Leggett and Fogg.
We're making a bunch of changes at DB.
We only made 2 known upgrades.
We're counting on our QB getting back to his 2017 form, that the guys who have been around the club for a while are now good enough to be starters and that this years draft will net a starter this year.
Yup! We probably shouldn't even bother to play the games this season. I guess the only team we might have a chance against is Montreal. 1 or 2 wins then??
I guess it's easier in life to be an all out pessimist, that way if your team stumbles you can say, "Look, I told you guys!"

I think we have at least as good of a chance at winning the cup as Calgary does this year. Winnipeg needs to finish 1st in the west.

What do socialists have to do with this?
I think his point is that they oppose everything people on the right support - even if they proposed the very same thing only a few months or years ago.

...he and his family genuinely love Winnipeg. I know that your BC sensibilities struggle with that, but it's a straight up fact.
Getting off topic, but I agree. B.C. people don't understand what we like about the Prairies. Other than the weather being better there (Vancouver area) for 6 months a year, they don't have anything on us. The traffic is better here, the cost of housing is way better...and the people (IMO) are generally more neighborly. Heh, just my 2 cents.

Apparently there is an interesting sidelight to this Raider story. The NFL has a procedure which states that if an exhibition game or game that is played outside of NFL-sanctioned stadia, they require that the NFL will run EVRYTHING- essentially, the NFL sends a whole squad of their people, you give them the keys to stadium. Then you retreat to a safe distance, wait for them to run the whole show and facility
On second thought...if the NFL were running a Golden Corral restaurant in the stadium...I would definitely go!!

I might watch the game on T.V....but only because it's in Winnipeg.

I have an idea! STOP MAKING ******* STUPID CALL!
You obviously have never referred before...or else if you did, you were perfect. Yes, the refs in the CFL do get it wrong sometimes...at times even ***** stupid calls. But heh, NFL refs make some really bad calls and they are full time.
If I'm a player, I'd feel like cussing out a ref sometimes too, but I'd expect a penalty for it.

Really looking forward to seeing Jeffcoat and Jefferson go after QB's. I'd expect big seasons from both of them.

Is that not the case for all drafted players?
I'm sure they'd have a system where, if you don't sign with a team by such and such a date, you go back in the pool of undrafted/unprotected players

Had a territorial rule in the NHL for the Montreal Canadiens until 1972. There should be an asterisk beside all their Stanley Cups up to that point.

If they get guaranteed contracts the are going to have to give something substantial to the league.
Yeah, like a 50 per cent reduction in pay. Heh, I'm only half kidding. Not sure guaranteed contracts would ever become a thing in the CFL. They could probably tinker with guaranteed contracts for vets and say the cut off point is earlier in the season. But you would still have to make the team, of course. The CFL teams can't afford to pay dead weight salaries of players who aren't contributing (like NHL or NBA can).
But I do agree with a lot of what the article says, especially in reference to players who speak out getting cut and getting no compensation.

Who holds the Bomber record in this category? Isn't it Paul Bennet in punt return yardage? The guy was never fancy, he went straight forward, but got the job done.
Anyways, my vote would go to Fritz Hanson and Leo Lewis. (My personal favorite was Mack Herron -he played for the Bombers when I first started watching them. Dynamic in CFL and NFL but sadly could never exorcise his demons.).

Interesting take from Burris:
I'd never count out a Calgary team led by Hufnagel, Dickinson, and BLM. Until someone knocks them down a notch, they're still #1 in my books.

Last place will look good on the Riders.

If Calgary is offering anything close to whatever anyone else is offering, BLM would be stupid not to go back

why you say that?
I'm guessing they can't afford all of them. Paying Bighill top $ will have some consequence.
Also, it's likely the Bombers believe Couture is ready to start (if need be).

I, for one, am disappointed in Rod Pedersen leaving. I would often listen to the sports cage out here in Saskatoon. Pedersen was fiercely loyal to the Riders and a true "homer". He wore his emotions on his sleeve. I would text him as a Bomber fan and he'd get riled up. It was always in good fun and he said so too. I appreciated his honesty with alcoholism too. I will miss him.
I wish you all the best, Rod!!

Exactly how did Trudeau and the Liberals force down the international price of petroleum? It would be amazing if a country which produces less than 6% of world petroleum could do that.
The Liberals have killed pipelines. Alberta's lost about 20,000 oil-related jobs.
Now...back to football please.

Arash Madani claims this kind of stuff (athletes, team reps having "false" accounts) happens all the time.

There'd be a lot of wealthy Bomber fans then...

Walby was a great one. One reporter even wondered if Walby was the greatest Canadian ever to play in the CFL!
Problem is though, my list would have to include Grant and Ploen (4 or 5 Grey Cup victories) and I would have to put Stegall in there too (no one will ever touch his TD record and he was never caught from behind!). Then there's Leo Lewis who was, arguably, our best RB of all time (plus he was scary on returns) and a man who Bud Grant said was THE greatest player he ever coached - CFL/NFL. So there's that...
