I believe the cap was brought in as a preemptive defense in the upcoming CBA negotiations so players can’t point to some of the excess being spent by some teams and wanting a bigger piece of the pie.  
That and to allow the weaker financial teams to remain competitive and not spend beyond their means.  

It's already by far the best in the league, with Neufeld in there. He was outstanding in 2018, AND stayed healthy, to boot....... The "Neufeld Sucks" line is old, tired and no longer relevant.

I find it odd that it's always Lapo has got to go... but when the team is clicking on offense it's always Nichols is back to playing the way he used to.  
The only game I went to this season was the stinker against Ottawa and it was night and day clear that the issues was Nichols not seeing wide open targets and missing on his throws.  Meanwhile Streveler comes in ice cold and with the same play selection and the same protection and receivers he was hitting on all cylinders and had the Ottawa defense on their heels.  
I can agree with some of the weird play calls in the red zone being on Lapo... but when Nichols struggles to make a basic high % low risk throw then you can't dump that all on Lapo.

^^ This. Personally, I think they should implement an ejection rule similar to what the NCAA does. I love our rivalry with SSK even if it gets heated and people go overboard on occasion. At the end of the day it's just a game and entertainment... players are people too, and although football is a very violent game, hits like that need to be taken out of the league.

It would be nice to see Nichols get the respect he deserves. What’s his record since taking over for Willy in 2016? If you don’t think there’s a correlation between us turning around as a franchise then you’re out to lunch. Let’s enjot what we have going now. Was Nichols great during our losing streak? No. Is he a contributor to our 8-5 record with him in the line up? Absolutely. 

I think this is shaping to be one of the most interesting post seasons in the past decade

I still have confidence in both Matt and OSH, and I never boo the home team.   That being said, I'm also a firm believer in getting your backup QB some playing time.    It's very rare in the CFL for a team to not have to use their #2 at some point in the season.   Whether winning big, or losing big, there is a time to put in your #2, and that was in the 4th qtr on Friday night.     I'm confused by the decision to put Matt back in, especially mid-series.    Matt took a couple of big hits after that as well, which is a concern.     The 18 game CFL season is very long, and physically demanding.   You don't need to have your starting QB taking extra punishment.   You also need to get some reps for your #2 when the opportunity arises.
Also, players need to staff off of social media, especially after a loss.   No good will come from it.

Wow...I'm a little surprised by the level of criticism on here tonight directed at Nichols. No he didn't play well and some of his decisions were questionable but some of you are taking it a bit too far.  The reaction after the game is something we'd see from Rider fans and we'd be universally condemning them  over it. So now we're no better than Rider fans.
Yes the fans were booing Nichols. Anyone who says differently is kidding themselves.  How do you know what was going  on in the heads of the other fans?  Even if the fans were directing their boos at Osh. It was indirectly aimed at Nichols.  Now Nichols should keep his trap uafter the game and turn off his phone.  Tweeeting after a loss is never a good idea and even worse is calling out the fans who just shelled out a lot of money to watch. 
But we as fans need to temper our emotions as well.  Nichols is 4-2 this season and everyone wants a rookie QB to replace him that's won 1 game.  Sounds very Rideresque.

So if we’re to paint Calgary with the same brush that we did the Bombers the other night based on them losing convincingly to an “inferior” team, after this week the Stamps and Bombers are basically the two worst teams in the league and both teams should blow up their entire front office all the way down. 
Two good teams were beaten by two other good teams. Parity in the league is a good thing and hopefully at the end of the year, we’re the ones hoisting the cup. Over the last many many years, Grey Cup winning teams have lost many a regular season game. Here’s to hoping that instead of going 11-7 and losing a playoff game, we go 9-9 and win a damn Grey Cup. 
Tonight showed us once again that any team can win on any given day. Hamilton beats us earlier in the season and we beat them a month later. Sask loses to Montreal and beats Calgary. We all see our own team’s issues, but every team has issues. I’m hard pressed to say there’s many teams I’d trade places with right now. Not that we’re in better shape than the others, just that everyone has something to be concerned about. Edmonton started and ended hot last year but had quite the losing streak in the middle. Perhaps Calgary will do the same this year.

Honestly, even though he's a prima donna, I feel bad for Carter here. No denying his talent, and Jones throwing him on defence after an all-star season as a receiver was just plain dumb. Then to find out from his teammates and Jones' response when Carter contacts him - well, no one deserves that treatment. 

In what crazy world would you have to be in to want Carter anywhere near this team?  Saskatchewan just got a bit better (addition by subtraction) because at least a little bit of the dumpster fire fuel has been removed and now you want to bring it here?  I don't care if he has some talent.  He's a such cancer to any team that touches him that only the most desperate would.   Let him go to Montreal.

I just have no respect for fans in Winnipeg who don't go to the games because it's too far. What I wouldn't give to be able to attend games. 

For me it's all the Bomber games, 12 regular season Jet games (plus some of the playoff tickets)   Maybe 1-2 Goldeye games, and no to the Moose.    I will likely buy some Valour FC tickets next year.

In my lifetime there have been around six American football leagues that have given media types the vapors. They come and go. Little or no appetite for  pro ball not called NFL but every new league thinks theyve found the magic formula.
Ill wait this one out too.
