  1. I like JFG. But as a back up Canadian. I don't like him starting as an 8th Canadian. I would prefer to see a better American in that spot. And if we couldn't find an American better than JFG I just kind of wonder about our off-season recruiting. I don't know. Maybe a harsh assessment but I would have hoped the ratio flexibility created elsewhere would have been used to get more of a weapon in that 5th receiver spot.
  2. I watched Westerman pretty close. He was close couple times and I thought he got held at least once. But Collaros was really dealing and the ball was gone pretty quick.
  3. Anyone recall if they hand out a line-up card at the pre-season games or should I print one out?
  4. Paddy Neufeld is a versatile Canadian O Lineman of a respectable skill level who is 26 year old. Other than Quarterbacks what's more valuable in this league? You draft guys in the first round hoping they can be Paddy Neufuld. Broken down 33 year old Canadian O Linemen who were never as good as Neufeld still get signed in this league. The lumox Paul Swyston gets three years to prove how much he sucks in this league. If you are a 6'6 big bellied Canadian who can two step and has ever accidentally gotten in someone's way in the cereal aisle at Superstore you're worth $100,000 to a CFL team. So Paddy gets hurt. A lot. And it is so very frustrating for us fans. No doubt about it. But man, the Paddy Neufeld's of this country are gold. And I don't want to see us give up on him too early. I don't care if it takes till Week 8 for him to practice. Because I guarantee when Week 8 rolls around Greaves or Chung or Mattias or Picard or all of them are injured and none of us will complain that Paddy gets paid like a starter and was hurt all this time. Because your other options will be to start Thomas instead of Anderson or Sherman instead of Randall or god forbid, find Paul Swyston and throw him in there. Plus, you get the added bonus of maybe watching Paddy Neufeld start 130 games over the next 10 years in green and white. I'm willing to wait.
  5. A lot of what's posted above has to do with where people live. When I lived in BC and Alberta I found that how much money you had was very important to people. It almost defined you. Within about 90 seconds of meeting someone that was doing well you could usually expect them to work it into the convo. So yeah, people in Calgary would consider it an embarrassment to be poor. In MB, it's not as much like that.
  6. Regarding Patrick Hall I think sometimes we as fans isolate a few plays from the pre-season games and view it as the entirety of the guy's camp effort without seeing the bigger picture. A guy has a big punt return and then we're shocked when he gets cut a couple days later. Or a guy drops a pass and we assume he's gone. But maybe the guy he's competing with dropped 10 x as many passes in practice. So the coaches have seen Hall in coverage dozens of times a day. Then re-seen it and re-seen it on film at night. And yes there's an element of "when the lights come on" to be considered. And yes maybe he'll get cut before long. But all I'm suggesting is 3 plays does not a man make. Even if those are the only three plays we noticed him.
  7. I still have my $50 gift card from winning the pick em last year. When I win again this year I'll be half way home to getting a sweet new Royal Blue home jersey with the new 2016 design. Or I could put it toward getting 88 Gordon on the blank navy jersey I have now after he goes 8 for 150 and 3 TD's in Regina on opening night.
  8. Then they go and do this Raider colour scheme ... That's fairly futuristic astronaut lookingly to me.
  9. Rob Vanstone ‏@robvanstone 18s18 seconds ago Picard is apparently shopping around to gauge interest from other CFL teams. The Riders are open to him returning at a renegotiated wage. Rob Vanstone ‏@robvanstone 56s56 seconds ago The Roughriders have released centre Dominic Picard, who was due to receive a bonus. The team has offered him a restructured deal.
  10. Yeah, you're gonna get mediocrity. I'd like someone who can win, not just be average. Who was the last OC or DC that people didn't endlessly complain about? Etch was a bum. Burke was a bum. Reed was a bum. Marshall was a bum. Lapolice has been fired twice here. I don't believe the fans "liking someone" is something that will ever occur. More and more, as we've hired, turned on, and fired coach after coach around here I am coming around to this way of thinking. Basically, a play doesn't work and it's the coaches fault in the eyes of the fans. And no offence to us fans, but we don't know wtf we're talking about approximately 97% of the time. Like yesterday, the big question, "who's going to be our new DC?" Might as well ask, "who are we going to be ragging on about 6 quarters into the season?" Unless we get better players.
  11. Lots about Wild to like but he's too small to play MLB every play and with both the other LB spots trending into coverage jobs I'm not sure he's actually as valuable as we feel he is. Sears, meanwhile, is hurt a lot. I personally don't view these guys as top end free agents who NEED to be signed. Not to bash them because I do like both players I just don't think they are among the best defenders in the league or anything.
  12. Remember when Buck Pierce gained a bunch of muscle and that was going to prevent injuries? Then remember after he got hurt all the time that year and the next year he lost a bunch of weight and that was going to prevent injuries? Maybe Drew should get either skinnier or more muscled or maybe we should just try blocking for him?
  13. Donovan Alexander played for the Bombers this year? Nah, I kid. I kid. Best of luck to the guy. Carved out a good pro career.
  14. I like those three guys as solid Canadian receivers so don't get me wrong but if you are going to start all three your 2 Americans better be Superstars.
  15. I have a bit of a unique perspective because my tickets are actually in Section 140 even though I am older than the average demographic of Section S I enjoy the atmosphere. I also bring my 10 year old to most games and he really hasn't seen or heard anything he doesn't hear while watching the away games at home. He is learning Blue language the same way I did and my father before me. By watching the Bombers with Dad. Having said that I am more at the top of the section where it is less rowdy and the seats around me were mostly empty for the majority of last year. So I will take a year and see if that changes. Because there is a limit to the rowdiness I am willing to endure and I don't want to have to get up 60 times a game to let some cheese **** 19 year old make his 400 runs to the Rum Hut and the bathroom. I only make 100 such runs personally. What I like is the continuing of Wade's venture to make the stadium a fun place to be. Rather than relying on draconian security practices he is trying to accommodate all different types of customers and not just the people who phone Gordon Sinclair the first time someone swears in front of them. I also like that my tickets are going down $50 per seat next year. We'll see how it turns out.
  16. The funny part is where would Alex Hall possibly fit in on this team? That was a dumb thing to say at the time and looks so much dumber now.
  17. Could be people have figured out that if you just show up in the Grey Cup city (excluding when a Prairie team is both hosting and playing in the game) there are always tons of tickets below face value available if you just ask around.
  18. Better chance he gets cut in the off-season when some bonus or another is due.
  19. I would be running away with this thing if I wasnt such a homer.
