OldSchoolBlue got a reaction from blitzmore in Free Agent Exodus
Well yes and no. It's great to have a young NI starter like Muamba at a position typically taken by an import. The problem arises when he gets hurt, or needs to be spelled. There is a SIGNIFICANT dropoff between him and his backup. You have no depth at that position, and the opposition takes great advantage of that. It's much easier to replace a NI OG with another in the hopper - the dropoff in talent is not nearly as bad.
Ideally, we should be drafting Offensive linemen, receivers and special teams/safeties/DTs. With some luck you find a couple decent NI OT and start 4 NI on the Oline. Add 2 receivers and you have only one spot to fill. It's not 'old fashioned' it's smart.

Well that confirms it, you're either completely bananas, Gary Lawless, or ArgoDave.
You have zero credibility left.

Best way to show him he should have come here is to pound him into the turf. Repeatedly. With gusto.

Would Buono also like to take a jab at Mike Kelly? Because I'm sure Walters would hear him out ...

I really hope he walks away. He has nothing more to prove.
Keep your head on, retire, do what is best for your family and your health.

OldSchoolBlue got a reaction from MOBomberFan in Lions cut Elliot
I'm amused by how Goltz is praised for losing every game he has started despite bristling with mediocrity, excused for throwing interceptions, yet Elliot, who's actually WON games for the Bombers (throwing >400yds in the process), has 2 POTW awards and had a higher qb rating than ANY of our current qbs is nfg. His 'propensity to throw INT's in the red zone' is inexperience, forcing the ball, same thing as Goltz. That comes with more experience and coaching.
Elliot obviously has an issue with attitude or whatever. But there is no disputing that he is a more productive quarterback at this point. Give the guy a football, a qb coach that will keep him on track, and I still think he's better than anything we have now.

Bogus? Just who was this guy a couple of years ago? Oh yeah, some guy who couldn't make it in the NFL. Without the CFL where would this guy be?? Bagging groceries somewhere.

OldSchoolBlue reacted to road griller in Burke: Happy with Buck's play on Saturday
In fairness, if Buck could take back all his ints and trade them for TD's he would be pretty impressive.
Also, if I was cooler in High School I probably could have kissed a girl. Its a game of inches really.

OldSchoolBlue reacted to Jaxon in Blow it up some more......
I've never been a fan of firing coaches during the season. It certainly didn't work last year, and around the league there are very few cases where it does work. Mack made a huge error in firing Lapo.
All of the top assistant coaches (potential candidates) are busy coaching with their teams, and they are locked up until the end of the year. Bringing in someone on a temporary basis doesn't get a new plan in place to properly build a team going forward. All it does is cost you a bigger pile of money, and creates the impression that the interim guy should "get a full shot with training camp and all".
I believe that as bad as it is, we're best to stick with the current coaches and, assuming there is no miracle, can them after the final game.
Firing now would be more about punishment rather than planning.

OldSchoolBlue got a reaction from Blue-urns in Buck vs Goltz (Advanced Statistics)
The thing with Elliot was that the errors he was making were largely coachable ones that could have been addressed with some competent guidance and a bit of maturity. But of course we aren't patient enough for that.

OldSchoolBlue got a reaction from BBlink in Rumour: Max Hall Will Start This Friday
This is bullshit.
Burke needs to take control of this team. If he wants Crowton fired, then fire him. If he doesn't, then back him the **** up.
The lack of accountability and actual leadership with this group is astounding, and as a fan, extremely disappointing.

OldSchoolBlue reacted to 17to85 in Time To Trade For Tate Is Now
Just handing the job to Burke was the single biggest mistake Joe Mack ever made. That 52-0 labour day game and the one 2 weeks later were enough for me to say "yeah this guy isn't a good option at head coach" let alone that stupid ******* punt call in the banjo bowl. Then he goes and tells the world it's PIerce as his qb and only PIerce cut the guys with experience. Just one mistake after another.
