Well. That’s different lol. I mean. Is Damien Jackson in the draft. I’m assuming if he was he’d be long gone before the bombers first pick. You just don’t find that type of talent in the cdn draft tho.

The CFL would have to hold a special lottery draft for a guy like the Seal - way too special to be lumped in with the the average player!

I actually think the Hodge 2.0 mock is kindof good and much better than his 1.0 or Marshall Ferguson's flaming pile of let's call it work.

There will always be issues with a mock draft and fullback certainly isn't a glaring issue the team has to address in round 1. Ideally would hope they wouldn't take a RB or FB so early but if Chris-Ike was taken at 17 after his combine numbers I wouldn't be too shocked or upset. He will probably never be a stud RB but if he can fill in as a backup RB and starting FB while becoming a star special teams player that is valuable

I'd be a lot less critical of these articles if they explained their rational a bit more - even if I don't agree with where they have a guy going, at least let me see the thought process behind it.

I think it would be especially valuable for Hodge since he does multiple mocks and some of his picks change drastically.  Like how does he have a guy like Straker going from being his projected 3rd overall pick to 20th?  Or how does he have Kevens Clercius jumping up 12 spots from 23rd to 11th?

Ottawa doesnt have a national receiver on their roster that caught more than 1 pass ly, do you think they will pass on Mital and/or Mardner?

Duncan-Busby is the next best but there is a noticable drop off (Hodge has him 15 , Ferguson 17 pick) Ferguson doesn't have Ottawa picking a receiver in any of their 2 picks

They certainly could have a need there but their roster isn't really setup for needing a national receiver - they use the ratio elsewhere (at least they did last year).

And if you're looking for immediate production out of a Canadian receiver, the draft probably isn't the best place to look.  No matter who they draft, they still end up with only one NI receiver with more than 1 catch last year.

This draft is worse than Hodges, no way that Ottawa not take a reciever in top 2 picks. Nor does Deblanco last more than 3 picks. Straker at 2 is also dreaming

gotta say I'm not a fan of people on this forum who make snide remarks on the commentor vs the topic being discussed.

(and for clarity ive said earlier that I dont think Hodges draft was good, just that Fergusons is worse.)

Alright let's break down your 3 gripes about this mock then.

    1) Ottawa is in need of a NI receiver but in a deep draft, do you reach and fill a position of need, knowing you can get a similar quality player later? Both mocks had the best available receiver going first so who's next and how far is the dropoff? What Edmonton does with the first pick could shape the way the first few rounds goes down.

    2) Even Ferguson said he doesn't think Dublanco slides to 7th.  He also had Lacrosse at 4 but says that's too early.  Not sure why he put guys in spots he doesn't think they'll be picked in... It's kinda the whole point of the article? That's probably my biggest issue with his draft.

    3) Didn't see you have the same angst for Hodge picking Straker at 3 as you do for Ferguson putting at 2?  I get why both guys have him high though.  Borderline NFL interest coupled with an underwhelming pro day means he will most likely be available for a team this season which is what you want from a high pick.

So not a random incident as the screenshot would suggest - the two men knew each other and had been in a dispute prior to the attack.  Still very violent and shocking though, not what you expect to see when you pop into BK for your morning coffee.

I believe we ripped it off from Saskatchewan. In the age of fan bases dropping their team names or symbols as a chant during the national anthem (like the “True North” shout out), the Riders jumped on the band wagon and wanted to come up with something for their team. I am told (although I never noticed it in any games I attended at Mosaic) that when the line “glorious and free” came up, the fans changed it to “glorious and green” in a quasi rhyme reflecting their team colour. We co-opted it and went with the completely non-rhyming (and non-sensical) “glorious and blue” as a direct copycat move. Also because we didn’t want Jets fans having all the fun.

Why we don’t yell “Blue”  for “True” North Strong and Free instead is beyond me. Seems like a much more sensible fit and borrows the Jets theme but makes it Bomber centric.

Can't say anything about the Riders as that's the 1st I've ever heard about them chanting green (I have also never heard it when I have been to Mosaic) but it has nothing to do with the Jets.

The blue chant predates the Jets 2.0 so not wanting their fans to have all the fun is incorrect.  Fans have been doing this sort of thing for decades (see the KC Chiefs for example) so it's nothing new.

    Bougie in french is candle

    Boujee is slang for luxurious/swag

    They're both french.

Bougie in french is candle but in english, both spellings are used for the essentially the same slang (derived from the French word bourgeoisie).

As a QB coach this is a really good get. His resume of grooming CFL QBs speaks for itself. Stealng? No definitely not stealing, he was unemployed. However, getting a guy that can groom QBs that can play at a high level in the CFL? Baldwin would be at or near the top of the list of every CFL team. So definitely a sneaky good signing by them.

Has to be a reason why he was available though.  Teams usually have their coaching staff in place by this time of the off-season and the Stamps are no exception.  The QB coach they hired in January bailed for a US college gig, otherwise we wouldn't even be talking about Baldwin.

It's curious that he was without a job in January so if he's that good of a hire, how come they brought in someone else at that point?  Obviously there are lots of factors that can go into that but I wonder what changed?

Taman has gone from the Rolodex of players names on subway napkins to ghosts in the fort Gary hotel helping him scout lol

Well he does work in Ottawa and they (Rough Riders) have drafted a dead player before so this does make some sense!

Of course you can find those outliers. But you can’t rely on finding that soo far down. That’s why we generally see a run on long term nfl talent right around that point in the draft.
It goes from a trying to win on a scratched to a lottery ticket to keno.
Off the top of my head our best late late pick under walters has been exhume a career teams guy. Albeit a damn good one.

Yep and there are often reasons why a guy is available later in the draft (like NFL interest for example).  Eli may have gone in the 4th round but he's not a 4th round guy, talent wise.  If anyone else in the league had any idea that he was interested in playing ball again, he would have gone way higher than he did.

Is it still driving up the price when he signed here for much less than what they offered? Maybe to an extent but he was still in line for a big bump. I guess we'll never know what he could have signed for if not for teams like the Lions.

Also way to pat yourselves on the back guys. You made the 2nd highest contract offer (Hamilton offered more per year - $275k vs BC's 250ish) so if anyone was driving up the price, it was the Ticats.
