As much as it looks like the fire truck was directed to be on the runway by an air traffic controller when the Jazz airplane landed, the driver of the firetruck should have checked to make sure the coast was clear. Had he looked properly, he'd have seen the plane coming down the runway at 100 mph. That poor air traffic controller might be the scapegoat & go to jail for negligence. From what I've read he was already dealing with another emergency with another aircraft & may have been distracted as well as overworked due to staff cuts initiated to controllers by Trump & Elon Musk.
I don't know that it's going to be pinned on the air traffic controller. Emergency vehicles are coordinated by the ground controllers, not air controllers and even if the ground crew gave the truck clearance, a plane coming in for landing has the right of way. The ATC was recorded as having told the truck to stop at least 10 times so what more could he have done? He was also recorded as saying he messed up but another ATC told him that he did everything he could. There doesn't seem to be any record of what the ground controllers were doing/saying so that's probably what the investigation will focus on. There doesn't seem to be any communication between the ground crew, air crew & the truck.

She was on a couple seasons ago too and wore some bison earrings to represent Manitoba. This is season 50 so they made it a big all-star season of returning players - gives you an idea of how well she did if she was asked to be a part of it. She's had a few players from her first season and this season up to Winnipeg - lots of Instagram pictures of them at Jets games.

As far as no one caring about noise because they're making money, sure. That's why we see just as many videos of people on social media complaining or in conflict with others in rich residential neighbourhoods as we see in the Hood.
Very little residential will be very close to the stadium. You have the rapid transit station to the North/North West & campus land to the North East providing a buffer. Those areas are bordered by Sifton road which is meant to be the main retail area of the new development with coffee shops, pubs, banks etc. Here's a better look at what's planned - it's nothing like Ottawa. They are also very actively promoting the proximity to the stadium (and other facilities) as a major selling point so people buying there should be well aware of those considerations.

He struggled a bit early last season (that terrible game against the vikings was in 2024) but played fairly well after that.

He must have used ChatGPT to see the projected depth chart where he was listed behind Darian Durant. Chase saw the writing on the wall and decided to hang them up.

It's a Fight Night card not a PPV so it won't be insane (for an event like that). I also wonder if the relatively short notice will affect ticket prices?
Under 2 months until the event is unusual, especially since it hasn't even been officially announced yet. By comparison, when Vancouver had their Fight Night this past October, the card was announced in June so they had a lot more time to sell tickets (even AEW tickets have been on-sale for 2 months now). They may price this one lower to try to move tickets quickly.

The CFLPA basically said teams are signing these huge contracts for a guy who hasn't done anything only because he's a high canadian pick. While other stars aren't being compensated to the same degree even though they are legit stars for the league/team. And I can see their point. But...it's back fired now. Because whatever the cap is now is so low that for a guy that's on the edge of being on an NFL roster/pr, it just doesn't make financial sense to sign with the CFL until he's sure he's got no chance. And as we are seeing, that can take years.
They should meet in the middle somewhere, not every CFL rookie falls into that category so it you might not need to scrap or adjust the cap entirely - just allow a bit of wiggle room for these higher level guys. Maybe allow each team 1 rookie cap exception or something so we don't have those guys sitting out rather than playing.

I like Allen. I think that is a pretty good move. Maier is a drastic overpay, but I get it. They have an injury concern with Brown, and we don't have good back-ups available. They overpaid for what they thought was the best option at the most important position.
I wonder how much Greg Bell is making; that seems questionable to me. I'd rather put that money into OL and not overpay at RB.
I like the talent he brings, but in 2 seasons, he has 2 100-yard plus games and 2 20 carry or more games. He hasn't hit 200 or 190 carries in a year either. He's a grinder and not a home run hitter, who hasn't shown he can sustain the grind. Similar to Oullette, but a better pass catcher for sure.
If I am going to break the paradigm of pay for RBs, it's gotta either be a Canadian or a game-changing home run hitter.
Overall it's probably not too bad for their QB room - they got Dru to take a paycut so they had room to be aggressive in FA. I also don't think Dinwiddie is 100% sold on Dru yet so he wanted to make sure they had the best possible back-up they could get. He's been saying good things about Dru & has declared him their starter but also said they would be exploring all options.

Here's hoping the Canadian Men's hockey team (Josh Morrissey leading the way) pummels, annihalates, crushes, vaporizes, stomps who ever gets in their way of the Gold medal.
Go high on Helle, give limited to space to KC to take his game away, NN says he slumps around this time of the year so nothing to do here.
Once it's all over, Go Jets Go.
I'd say this also applies to Brady (and given recent events, I believe Logan Stanley agrees).

Prior to the end of last season we never really had any true NT candidates on our NL. Like any other NL, or any recruit for that matter, finding them and getting them to sign are two different beasts. Phase 1 of trying to sign them is adding them to the neg list once you have identified a player you want to sign/watch their development more closely. If we weren't actively looking for a true NT we wouldn't be scouting them.
Not exactly true - just based on our current neg list, we had added Anthony Campbell to our list prior to last season & Xavier Carlton during the season. Neg lists are pretty fluid so I would have to dig around to see who else may have been on there and was signed or dropped but we definitely have had some prospects. That said, we have added a much bigger number of them over the last month (6 by my count) so it is a position they are focusing on right now.

26 minutes ago, wbbfan said: It is, but the thing about the NL is those guys could sit for 2-3 years or be removed in 2 weeks without an offer.
It'll come down to what kind of ends we sign and if/when/how many Nts/Dts we bring in.
Yep, not all of the DT's on our Neg List are recent adds either - a couple of them have been there for months so it's more of an indication of what they are targeting rather than a clue that they'll sign soon.
Neg List moves are all over the map too - some guys sit on there for years & some only for a few days. Some get signed while others get dropped. Some even get dropped and then are re-added later on - recent signee Khris Bogle is a good example of that. He was added 2 months go, dropped after a month only to be re-added a few days later before he was signed (Calgary also had him on their list at one point).

25/26 CFL (Non Bombers) Off Season Thread
in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's not just us though. If MOS thought Hogan was doing even a halfway decent job, he'd still be our OC. The fact that he was demoted, speaks volumes.
