So the bombers could save lots of money by letting every other coach besides O’Shea go then. Cuz wtf is the point of the other coaches. Youngers D would be lethal with the right guys. lol. Hogans O would be with 5 milt stegalls also. I mean the right guys. If only O’Shea scouted and kept all these pre season all stars working at foot locker.

He might not scout but it looks like he has more say in the roster than you seem to think,

ou also wonder what the expectations would be as far as job title. While every other coach has a second role – either as a GM or co-ordinator – O’Shea is strictly the head coach, giving him the best gig in the CFL. As for roster control, he has a lot of that, too, seemingly the same as general manager Kyle Walters. I don’t see him getting that anywhere else but Winnipeg, so I’m predicting another extension with the Bombers, which is where he belongs.

Arbuckle in 15 games was 365/504 with 4370 yards and 26/15

In Kellys MOP season in 18 games he was 270/394 for 4123 yards and 23/12

Only real difference between the two stats wise is Team wins and Kelly also ran the short offense and has a bit more mobility.

There really wasn't much of a drop off between Kelly and Arbuckle

It is a team game though so I'm not completely blaming Arbuckle (Toronto's defense was really good in 2023 and terrible this year, allowing the most points, by a fairly wide margin).  They have bled a lot of talent on that side of the ball over the last couple seasons.

Stats can also be misleading and don't tell the whole story so I wonder how much of his numbers came in garbage time?  I looked at their season schedule and they trailed going into the 4th quarter in 13 of 18 games so there was a lot of opportunity to put up numbers in a losing situation.

So our answers are a guy who isn't available and an imaginary coach with no name. lol.

My buddies have had this discussion but based on Walters/MOS leaving on their own.

    GM - Danny Mac
    HC - Younger

These are not my choices, just actual examples lol. My choices are the guys in the roles currently.  IMO they've earned the right to attempt to right the ship.

Even if they decided the best course of action is to maintain the status quo?

I agree that they have probably earned the right to try to correct things but at the same time, this wasn't an overnight event either.  They've let the team veer off course for a couple seasons now and if the best they can come up with is to keep doing the same things that got them here, then I no longer feel they have that right.

CTE + rampant use of Meth in Hawaii.    Tony Ferguson will be the next guy with this wrap sheet....

With how long he's fought and the number of head strikes he's taken, you can probably add Max Holloway to the list too.  He's just not as far gone as Tony.

I don't blame him for kicking around and seeing if he can get on an NFL pr for the remainder of the NFL season. It makes a lot more sense than sitting as the 4th QB on our PR for part of the season.

So long as he doesn't waste next years TC here trying to fish for another NFL TC invite.

Yeah didn't make sense for the Bombers to bring him in late either - that would have just burned a year off his rookie deal.  Let him sit by a phone that's not ringing for now and try to get him here for a full season next year.

Those "reports" are apparently incorrect.  Dana White confirmed they are working with the FBI on this and they (UFC) actually questioned the guy before the fight but still let him compete.  Once they saw how the fight played out, they got in touch with the FBI.

B.J. Penn arrested for 6th time this year | MMA Fighting

CTE is a terrible thing.  Here's the cliff notes for Penn's 2025 so far:

    • 1st arrest: Arrested after altercation with his 79-year-old mother (issues with his family stem from his claims that his family had been “killed” and replaced with imposters).
    • 2nd arrest: Arrested for a violation of a stay-away order from his mother
    • 3rd arrest: Arrested for failing to appear in court
    • 4th arrest: Arrested for violating a restraining order by breaching a property
    • 5th arrest: Arrested for entering a property and violating a court ordered protection order filed by his mother
    • 6th arrest: Arrested for third-degree assault on a 45 year old man

It is not a pretty list right now, thats for sure. But, I do think we will see teams cutting their vet back ups and trying to make moves. We can also see a trade for a back up with a higher salary.

The pending FA QB I would go after is Dustin Crum. I think the following guys will also be on the market one way or another this year. Faj, MBT, Ford, PJ walker, Shiltz, and Evans. I expect Masoli retires and maybe moves into coaching.

Powell in Hamilton is also a pending FA.  I would go after him if Hamilton lets him get the open market.

We will likely have to spend more money on qb2 this coming year as well. Strevy took a bet on him self deal with a really low base, that did not work out for him at all. he got barely 100k, when most established back ups got around 180k with incentives to go up to 250-300.

Who's available that would be worth spending on though?  Last off-season had a ton of QB movement but I don't know how many are pending FA's?

The past two years, Brady has been the engine of the offense and often the only reason it has had success. I'd hate to lose him because we keep Hogan or decide not to pay him. Especially when Zach needs to take a cut of at least $100,000, Willie is overpaid, Vaughters is overpaid, Kola and Thomas are deadweight.

I don't think it'll come down to money.  They can easily load him up with marketing money for all the work he does in the community and then the cap isn't even an issue.

Will he sign with us? The rookie salary cap is ridiculous. How the CFL runs sometimes s a joke. we're 5 years out of the pandemic. The league will cut off their nose to spite their face. Some players deserve more than others.

If Elgersma ever wants to play in the NFL one day and make that good money, he needs to come play up here (with us or someone else) or he can try the UFL.  No different than what Rourke had to do.  The fact that nobody else has even kicked tires on Elgersma yet is telling though.  I think he needs to show he can play consistently at higher level than USports - he had a good camp with the Packers but it's a small sample size.

Every league has a rookie max of some type so that's also not unique - yeah it's low but compared to salaries in bigger leagues, all CFL (rookie or not) salaries are low.  Some players feel they deserve more without having earned it yet.

part of that is the real poor receiver routes in this ....i wont even call it playbook....cause I dont think we even really had one...and a lot of what we installed and ran in camp to "prepare" everyone....we jettisoned....like wtf

Preaching for 2 yrs now coaching is our downfall....and if in playoffs this yr would be again....and wow.....it reaered its ugly but all too familiar head

I also dont think Osh knows how to coach/scheme or make any kind of play or teachable lesson....as he hasnt shown it....and I dont thinkn he can show it....when he has less than stellar co-ords his teams are brutally bad...and he isnt able to take on a role other than be the "leader"...and even then...seen minimal actual leading of late...a whole lotta excuses...non-chalantness...deflection....zero accountability....it's all good baby....cant we see it??....lol

Not offensively he doesn't and he admitted as much during his presser.  Said he can't draw up plays for the offense but he should have done more to support them with a rookie OC.

After reading the article that @SpeedFlex27 cited, it does seem like MOS wants to keep the status quo, not just players but Hogan too. To which I say barf.

I got the impression MOS was just being diplomatic there - he's not going to throw Hogan under the bus but he didn't exactly give him a ringing endorsement either. He said the OC issue needs more conversation and study but acknowledged the players weren't happy with how things went and that's on him as HC to clean up.
