Am i the only one who finds it ironic that you complain about LaPolice and Reed yet you want Khari Jones and Tim Burke?

This whole line of discussion is absolutely ridiculous. Outside of a teams top players the bulk of the imports in the CFL are largely all interchangable pieces and the difference between every single team is comes down to 2 factors, coaching and quarterbacking. You get those two things and a team can go from **** to champions, isn't that right buddy? 

I just don't believe that a rookie GM and a rookie CEO led by a broken board of directors is what this team needs right now... or ever.

Plain and simple the hate for Buckko stems from him signing a long term deal for broadcasting rights with CJOB then suddenly becoming president of the club.  It is the epitime of the "old boys club" of the board.  You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours
 
And in hind sight, he wasn't the right man from the job.  From the fiasco of the stadium being a year late (not his fault, but shouldn't have made the promises he did) to the opening night problems, to hanging his hat on Mack.
 
I'd love to know what discussions there was between the Bombers and TSN 1290 before CJOB got the broadcasting deal.  You know TSN would have been ready to pay for the radio rights, lots of synergies with the TV rights.   If CJOB out bid TSN 1290, then I have no problem with the deal.  But somehow, with the way this club has been run, I don't have any confidence that that is how is went down.

Eh I'm not saying that's why the Als lost, just saying that I hate the refs not calling penalties because they don't want to decide the game when in reality not calling penalties is also game deciding. It's not just a problem in the CFL either, happens in all sports. 

Tell you guys a story back to the day when my then 12 year old son played pee wee football & I coached on that team here in Calgary back in 2002. We had a 12 year old linebacker who was big. About 5'9 & 150 lbs. He was the best linebacker in the league & even kids on our team were afraid of him. In tackling drills we had to virtually throw our biggest bravest guys in there to go against him. I know kids on other teams were afraid of him as I heard kids from different teams talking about him. The kid was the dominant alpha male on our team & he definetly ruled on the football field.
One game we played a team that had the best running back tearing up the league. This kid was a big back almost the same size as our linebacker & loved to run over tacklers The only way to really stop him was to spy wherever he ran. So, we got our big linebacker to do that thinking he'd shut the running back down no problem.
Well, after the first half our alpha male linebacker was done & refused to play in the second half. He didn't like the kid lowering his shoulder running over him on every play as it hurt & he got scared. Our backer was crying on the bench & didn't want to go  back in. That running back punished our linebacker not the other way around.
As soon as our tough linebacker met another tough player he crumpled. He wasn't as tough as he thought & I think he was shocked at how the kid just kept running him over. That back was breaking off huge runs for touchdowns in the second half & we couldn't stop him. We ended up losing badly.
I always thought that what happened was a great personal lesson to our player. He got to feel the way other smaller kids felt when he hit or tackled them. He got scared & was intimidated. Maybe for the first time in his life.
So, this happens a lot in pee wee & bantam. As a coach we really had to be vigilant & make sure our smaller players were protected because of the size difference. Same with the officials & that's why referee calls like this fairly or unfairly are made at the lower levels. It's not about being a tough football player. It's about preventing injuries on the field & for the bigger kids to stop headhunting smaller ones.  

His price was already maxed out, he was never going to sign here for anything less than being the highest paid Canadian in the league.

Regardless  of what side of the ball our next coach comes from.  He must be a leader and a motivator.  
 
Pinball is a perfect example, no previous coaching experience but his players would follow him into a war. He is a motivator and was well respected by all the players in the league.   
 
This why I hope that Mike O'Shea gets an interview.   I like his attacking coaching philosophy and he seems well liked and respected by his players.    I know previous playing experience isn't a guarantee of success but you've got to think that players respect the coach who's played at the pro level vs the ones that didn't.

I'd like to see us acquire Collaros for a 7th rounder and then hire Barker to be our GM

In my lifetime the Bombers have won 7 Grey Cups. Six of them were won by Head Coaches who, when we hired them, were Rookies.

proven or not is less concerning to me than whether or not they can actually do the job. Every great coach was unproven at one point, just hire someone with the right qualities. 

Exactly why would Marcel know anything about what's going on with HC or GM?  Why would anyone tell any of the coaching staff, "hey, this is who we're hiring...so you know...get ready to pack your bags sucka's."  Especially if the HC is going to give you the boot and hire a new OC.

Yup. Glenn and Tate both have a year and Mitchell has 2 according to the Calgary Herald.

that'll work against some teams who don't need a human-shield in the dispersal draft as the Argos do... but Collaros' value to us (as of the end of our season) is to either allow us to keep our NI assets, or to fetch us one that is as least as promising as the one we'd lose due to not having Collaros. (presuming he gets drafted...)

He is a really effective runner.  Maybe it would be worth keeping him around as #3 behind Collaros and Hall to run short yardage and redzone packages.  I know we like to be developing a QB but Collaros and Hall are both pretty young themselves so its not like there's any urgency to develop yet another young guy.  Goltz does one thing and he does it well... so let him handle it.

If the Als are able to go from Calvillo to a new star QB over the course of half a season.... well that's just not fair.

Would Dunigan be THAT bad as a GM though? The stamps did bring in some quality people while he was there, I think Dunigans biggest failing in Calgary was taking on too many roles (GM, HC, OC, probably qb coach as well) and having to deal with an owner who basically bought a team so his son could play qb.
