That said, how can he teach techniques he never had? I
Because teaching isn't about having been able to do a thing, it's about imparting knowledge onto others.

As far as rookie salary cap goes, why should I, as a fan, get excited about a 29 year old rookie in the CFL who was the UFL Player Of The Year? How many of these guys pick up the Canadian game & become stars at that age?
How many qbs period pick up the Canadian game and become stars period?
Teams will always look for a qb where ever they can find them. Doesn't really matter what their age is, and honestly when guys are playing into their late 30s anyway does it matter if they get a late start up here?

We won some games we had no business winning. There was more of that than the team losing games they should have won. The whole year was a downer.from watching Dobson & Lawler walk, the lack of free agent signings to the putt putt putt offense we had. I've never seen a more uninspired 10-8 team as there was last season.
You're also incredibly negative around the whole year. Yeah it was a bad year and a real downer but their record was pretty much where they were.
-
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Complaining we can't keep guys because they over spent in free agency or keeping our own guys and complaining about lack of splash free agent signings.
Bottom line there's no right or wrong, the only judgements are in the win column.

Look at it this way.... Jake Thomas didn't get to the CFL from his god-given natural ability so presumably he was very receptive to coaching along the way. Now maybe all those lessons he learned are things he can pass along.
Or maybe the hate brigade is right and he will be terrible. It remains to be seen, i just know that retirement into coaching isn't an out of left field thing for players like Jake Thomas.
-
Honestly Booch has hated Jake Thomas for years, even when he was a serviceable backup player. Just hates guys with limited athletic ability who succeed anyway.
I say give Jake a chance in this role and see how he does with it.

The Bombers 10-8 record last year was pure luck.
I don't think it was.... I mean as much as they had some close games they probably could have lost, they also had some close games they probably could have won. So a 10-8 record is probably where they ought to be. One game better than .500, it's not like it was some fantastic record and they got a home playoff game out of it or anything.

Thing is...we dont really need a Canadian starter at SAM especially when we can getter production with an American...and for cheaper....I agree with your point tho about locking up top Canadians...and ones where they give you more value...at SAM...thats not one
Kramdi to me is a great depth piece who can rotate in and take some not completely awful reps in a couple positions as a Canadian.... now I am not sure that's worth what they pay him...

Heard via the grape vine that Thomas is likely to retire. Take it with a grain of salt, but a friend of mine connected to the Bomber's training staff seems pretty convinced he's hanging them up. Hope for the best on that one.

It's a **** load of money and probably way too much for a running back.... however... how do you not do what it takes to bring that guy back? The marketability alone makes him valuable to the club.
Just gotta make the rest of the roster work around that.

Well he sat around all yr for 0k a yr this yr...on a hope and a dream...needs to realize his chance of anything even close to a week here...a week there on random teams as an undrafted Canadian qb...from a Canadian school is remote at best...
I won't ever fault a guy for chasing a dream.

Bo got his shoulder healthier and Harris stayed healthy this past season... neither one ever relied on their athleticism as much as collaros. That's the #1 problem here.
-
It's mot just some DEs looking good in one game... think about the home preseason game... the #1s looked ho-hum but as soon as the 2s went in the performance level went up noticeably.
