And what a discussion... those teams were absolutely loaded with great dudes....
I mean pretty much that whole defensive line... Alexander in the secondary.... all of your mentions. Just an embarrassment of riches

People would be surprised by some of the types who lurk on here
Hell we have had players, players parents at very least post on message boards prior to this one so I doubt I'd be surprised by anything.
I'm 90% sure Glen Suitor reads these boards and uses it for his material prep.

I am with @SpeedFlex27, Mace is a good coach.
Ehhh he's still prone to some dumb things. They are god damned lucky BC gave them the out in the playoffs cause the situation Mace went into was super sketchy coaching decisions. It worked but if it hadn't no one would be here calling him a good coach right now.

as our personal department is very good at identifying talent.
Agree to disagree. They're not different than any other group in the league. Every front office in the CFL can identify talent.
A lot of things went right for the riders last year, odds of it happening again after losing a bunch of players? Remains to be seen. Ultimately cfl basically comes down to quarterbacking and the riders are relying on a 40 year old dude there....

Vaughters was OK last year. Not great not bad.... if you're expecting more prepare to be disappointed.
Honestly it's hilarious that the riders fan comes her thinking their losses are no big deal... they had a pretty charmed season last year and they've lost a lot. Depth is important because injuries happen. Once the Bombers started losing their depth they didn't win championships either. You can hand have it all away but.... I wouldn't expect a repeat for the riders. Especially not when it looks like Winnipeg learned it's lesson last season and you can't count on those wins again.

Why not give him a chance coaching before we judge him?
I mean yeah as a player he needed to be gone earlier than he was... but pluggers becoming coaches is a tale as old as time.

2001 was the most gut-wrenching GC loss for me: the drought, plus that talent gap between us and the stamps.
Bob Cameron of all people gets a punt blocked! Returned for a td as well. Just pisses me off thinking about it even still.
I also maintain that if Westwood makes those first few field goals we win that game. Jumping out 9-0 is a hell of a lot different momentum wise than 4-0

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
in Blue Bomber Discussion
Honestly I think the root cause was hanging onto expensive guys too long and not moving on sooner. Helps balance how your cap is allocated and increase the overall competition.
Just my opinion anyway.
