No doubt about that. Those lean years hit the community owned teams hard. One needs to remember though that the late 90s were an epic disaster for us. Ritchie and Taman at least put a respectable product on the field. Not championship calibre but there were some good years there.
Hot take but Lyle Bauer was the biggest impediment for this team getting back to competitive. Too quick to blow it all up which decimated the depth and made it impossible to attract quality people.

Talent yes, but Milt Stegall said he had zero breakaway speed and would never outrun anyone to the end zone in a straight up sprint
Dunno if it was gassed or just not fast...Charlie was quick. 0-60 in no time and insane change of direction but a burner he was not.

He was a division or league All-Star every single season he played for the Bombers. Incredible to think what he could have accomplished if he dedicated himself to lifestyle more consistently as opposed to just relying on talent 😳
Yeah Charles Robert's is the poster child for God given talent. So good with so little effort put in.

I know a lot of the Riders numbers were garbage time numbers, but Emilus had a lot of early game impact. Real big fan of his
He is absolutely the best of their group

Two 1100 yard receivers and a 3rd with 880 with having guys like Dolegala throwing the ball at them... they were not mediocre at all. It was a position of strength for them.
Someone is going to get yards every year. Those guys are solid but not spectacular. Not one of them is on the level of the top teir receivers who can put the thing on their back if needed.

Different topic, anyone else think the Stamps organization is in serious trouble?
Been saying it for a while, Calgary is going to be a problem spot for the league before long

Let's re-play the "name a rookie starting at OT?" game, keeping in mind Zach's health rides on his performance.
It's been damned near a decade with the same tackles so..... kind of an unfair thing to worry about. If there's an open spot on the roster and a rookie earns they spot they aren't afraid to play them

Based on experience I would pencil Lofton in as the starting RT game #1, they already know his ability and his personality probably fits in well with the team. Rookie O-linemen have to go through Marty Costello school first, if one progresses well, he may get a mid-late season look and take over from Lofton, but probably looking at 2025 for anyone else to establish themselves as the next RT.
Honestly I think if a rookie shows well he will start. This team has no qualms playing a rookie if they show they are a talent. Think of guys like schoen or Alford. Guys who show talent get a chance.

He does have above average arm strength. He has a live arm. That's not to say he uses that attribute well or often.
That doesn't make it exceptional.
Let's even leave off bishop who is just a freak... dolegala isn't a comparion doe a guy like Burris who I would say had exceptional arm strength.
No one is saying dolegala has a limp arm like faj, but exceptional? Nah just your standard arm on a qb.

Yeah I don't understand where the he's got a big arm stuff is coming from... his arm is nothing special... sure he's not a noodle arm like faj but I've seen every other starting qb throw with more zip than dolegala has shown.

An experienced body to compete in camp isn't the worst.

Lions signed Dolegala yesterday.
I'm in the "maybe he's got upside?" camp so I think this is a decent signing for them.
I am skeptical about how much upside he has. He's tall, that's about all he has for notable skills. Not an overly strong arm, not overly accurate, not super mobile... not sure what he does well enough to think he's got any upside.

I am actually looking forward to them only dressing 6 OL on the active roster this season (hopefully). Dressing 7 guys last season was another waste of a roster spot that hindered them elsewhere.

I actually think you're wrong here... the problem with Jackson wasn't his contributions as a fullback... it's that he was taking up a DI spot on a position that easily could've been filled by a Canadian rookie... if his passport was different (even Global), I don't think anyone would've had a problem with him
and I disagree. Anyone can get in there and get in the way for a block. He didn't do anything that a random canadian couldn't have done at fullback (and many could do better) He was useless on special teams. I recall late in teh season giving the round of applause because he got his first stat when someone tripped over him on teams, as a DE was just laughable. He was a complete waste of a roster spot.

I’m pretty confident if I told your veteran parent to go balance a ball on his nose in reference to his service branch, you’d struggle to find the “levity” in that comment, especially since you recognize their sacrifice as you say. If you want to rip a player’s performance, fair game. You want to call out their character for domestic violence, drunk driving, getting busted using steroids, have at it. But no, I’m not going to lighten up because you want to poke fun at someone’s military service by equating it to a circus trick, there’s nothing funny about it, especially as a parting shot.
See it's a joke because he was a Navy Seal and seals (the animal) are sometimes trained to do tricks like balance a ball on their nose.

Yea..last impactful developed by us OT I can remember is Dan Goodspeed
I count yoshi. He didn't develop in his stops before winnipeg. The Bombers made him the player he is.
