I thought Earl of Sandwich was the competition granted there's only one location in Winnipeg, I think there's only one Mr.Sub left
Jimmy John's and Jersey Mike's are massive chains that will take a lot of Subway's business. Both places offer a much better product IMO.
-
Not really a "Winnipeg" story but i imagine these guys will be coming here eventually. Good news. Subway needs some competition.
U.S. sandwich brands Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's to expand in Canada (citynews.ca)

Confirms Harris didn't take much of a pay cut from O'Day, leaving no room for Brown.
The Riders turned his $250,000 February 1 roster bonus into a signing bonus within his reworked 2024 contract. He has a $189,500 base salary, $15,000 in marketing money, $13,800 in housing and $5,000 in travel for a total of $473,300 in hard money. Harris has playtime incentives worth up to $27,000, broken down to $1,500 per game for playing 51 percent or more of the offensive snaps.
Despite taking his total down $24,700 from $525,000 to $500,300, Harris takes home more money after taxes. American players who maintain a permanent residence south of the border are taxed 15 percent on any signing bonus — much less than their usual Canadian tax rate.
Thank god. If Dru Brown ever went there he would be dead to me.

I keep hearing that. But we had to make Zach the highest paid player in the league, we've made both Willie and Adam the highest paid defensive players at different times. Kenny left for more money and only came back when we paid him 300+ (saying he left money isn't the only thing that matters but contract saying otherwise). Everyone says Bailey came back for less money, but he went into FA and then came back so I honestly just believe the offers out there just weren't what he thought they'd be.
Who's taken less money to be here?
Its pretty common knowledge that Bailey, Jefferson, and Lawler were offered more elsewhere. Hardrick as well. And im sure there are more guys who could have gotten more but didnt bother going to free agency in order to keep the dynasty alive with their brothers.

Was quite disappointed when I saw that........
Yeah, he's really done a 180 attitude wise by the looks of it. Went from a humble guy crying in the RB coaches office, wondering if he can even be a professional football player, to a money bag emoji guy looking to go to the highest bidder. Its amazing what 1500 rushing yards will do.
50 minutes ago, Jesse said:This isn't really true. We've consistently paid guys at the top of the pay scale to get them here and keep them here.
Ummm, its 100% true that there are numerous Bomber players who have taken less money to come back during the current almost-dynasty.

I would think that his recent twitter comments may rub more than a few players the wrong way too. A lot of the guys in the Bomber locker room have taken less money to come back here for the betterment of the team. Passing up more cash elsewhere to win with their brothers. And then youve got BO throwing up money bag emojis online essentially teasing about going to the highest bidder. Not great optics and bound to irritate the guys who have done the complete opposite for the better of the team.

So guys who didn't lose us the game
Guys that O'Shea cant himself wasting roster spots on/playing when there are way better/more suitable players available.

I found both the offensive and defensive play calling to be very vanilla. No imagination, no wrinkles, just blah. Didnt force the Alouettes to think or react. Just a garbage called game all around. Got out-coached big time.
