    All things considered...

And yet they consistently came out on top and the stats back it up...just because most good defensesthese days are built around pressure and the front 7 doesn't mean that's the only way

  2. See and that's my biggest issue with how the GC game played out. The game plans for the games against the argos weren't good during the season. And they seemed to think 3rd times the charm in the GC.

  3. I mean look at how spending big on an impact MLB transformed our team back when we got Bighill when he didn’t suck

  4. My take: they could have made some improvements at some positions, but there were many games where they were lights out. They didn't fare as well against the two best teams - it was clear all season that the Argos' had their number. That's sports - sometimes an opponent matches up well against you. IMO - you can't consistently depend on pressure in the current CFL. Officiating is letting OLs getting away with a lot more holding than in the past, and that's not likely to change any time soon. But I do think the Bombers have tilted a tad too far in the other direction. It'll be interesting to see what kind of tweaks the Bombers make - but there's no need to throw out the baby with the bath water.

  7. Glad they're not going full redneck and change the name back,... Interesting vintage look to the logo.

Keep pushing this weird team rolled over narrative when it was 17 13 going into the 4th quarter is odd. I get repeating the same exact talking points months later but they didn’t roll over. Their QB got hurt then went back in and promptly gave the game away in 2 series. Question. So besides doing exactly what the vocal minority wants done what can they do really. It’s at the point where some of you will complain regardless cuz they didn’t do it your way.

  9. Incoming controversial take: Whenever we played the Als, RB's or Ticats (speaking of teams that just seem to have your number!), it always looked fairly apparent that each of them had a Toronto-Specific gameplan. I never got that feeling or saw evidence of that against the Bombers.

  12. shouldnt all the players u roster have never say quit in them..and be tough...athletic...versatile....and if not...why they on roster?...call me crazy but in my coaching tenure/experience, thts how we rolled....yhou eraned a spot in camp....and then had to maintain/keep it in season...be it if you were a rookie...2 yr guy..10 yr guy....nothing was handed to you with zero competition, and if you were not performing at the best compete level....u saw the bench or inactive roster.....or bought a bus ticket... that staff does not inspire me....Good luck Buck I think Jackson is the guy...and best option...he's been around a bit but worked with a lot of people....and like Younger has some innovative ideas He has the knowhow and actual sense to use skill sets to get the best out of players...if he was here last yr he would have utilized Whitehead...Demski and likely MCI to an extent to help open things up elsewhere...I could also have seen Brown stick on roster and become a nice piece.... Musta got it in Dubai

    All things considered...

we were out coached plain and simple...and has happened a ton the last 3 yrs...we had the horses to get things done....but the horses need to be coached....trained...made aware of what will/won't work...then re-hash it all, with a plan B for when things are being stiffled...we did none of that and were just content to roll with what worked in the past....and it didnt work...thts a sign of a staff with no answer when it happens repeatedly....or a sign of a stubborn staff who think they the smartest in the room....pick which one you want sure we overhauled a bit....but then refused to use them and played way too many sets with Thomas...wayyyy too many...and an absurdly bizzare amount with him and Schmeck...so may as well went with one lineman and drop 11 back.....bringing in new talent an blood is one thing....uses then is a different beast here...that goes with our LB's too

  14. It's no different than the Riders or Lions coming in all cocky and hot on a winning streak and getting repeatedly dropped by the Bombers, trending towards predictable outcome.

  15. To be fair the front 7 received a major overall in 2024 bringing in plenty of new blood, Devin Adams, Ayers, Jones, Woods added to the lineup and Garbutt, Haba, Cole, Fox and Schmeck given more prominent roles, the only non-change was Willie and Jake. That's quite a bit of renewal implemented in a single season, Bighill only played half a season and Gauthier's participation as a starter actually diminished.

  16. Yeah, that was bad on Helle’s part. Really uncharacteristic this year, but definitely should’ve had two of those and their guy stops a breakaway on Ehlers in overtime and Helle unable to match on the two on one. That said, Nik Ehlers could’ve helped him out there… He is not a good finisher on breakaways.

  19. Fitting end to the tournament for Canada. They deserve this fate... Left a bunch of their top scorers at home in favor of role players... How'd that work out for ya. Four Nations will be a disaster for Canada too

  20. We played with smoke & mirrors defensively all season. How can anyone say that we have a great D without any kind of pass rush from the DL? Gauthier & Bighill as starting linebackers for the majority of the season. Bomber mgmt refusing to upgrade our front 7. Just satisfied with rushing three & dropping nine because we had one helluva secondary that saved our asses time & time again. Imagine what they could have done with an actual front 7 in front of them.... We are pansies on defense. A paddy cake defense. No physicality. Nuthin'.

  21. I threw up in my mouth thinking about this. After years living in Dauphin with ACTUAL pierogies, I moved to Morden/Winkler and was at a Smitty's for lunch and ordered pierogies and sausage.... And what I received on my plate, with their glob of grossness inside what otherwise looked like a normal potato and cheddar dumpling, was NOT a pierogi. Disgusting.

  22. And not to mention the missed high stick and then also the cross check which led to a diving call to even things up. Just horrible officiating right now. Lots of missed calls on Canada I'm not going to excuse the pathetic play of Canada. They need to pull their head out of their ass. Looks like they want to go home early again

  23. That 5 minute penalty for ‘Kneeing’ is an absolute disgrace. Shouldn’t have been a penalty at all. The Canadian’s leg didn’t even move. Just a pathetic call after a review.

  24. This statement makes no sense because anything other than this isn't a pierogi, it's an abomination.

  26. There aren't enough quality Canadian assistants being brought up to the CFL from U Sports to have the innovation needed to help make our game more exciting. They lack the experience & knowledge of the rules of the game. Canadian coaches for the most part even if they become OC's, DC's or STC's just follow what they know which is the status quo. We need more NCAA coaches up here like we had years ago but they're not coming anymore like they used to. They seemed to be able to look at our game & find ways to move the ball with trick plays or innovative offenses which came down to their knowldge of fiootball in general. Eliminating the TE & using another slot was Ray Jauch's idea in 1979 while coaching the Bombers. John Hufnagel started using four receivers flooded to one side to create match up issues when he was OC with the Stamps with Flutie. Trouble is, these were over 30 years ago. The problem for CFL teams is the coaches-admin cap which has to go, the low Canadian dollar as American coaches are paid in Canadian money, low pay & lack of benefits the coaches get putting in long hours on a CFL's team's staff. No one from the US really wants to coach up here anymore. Today's game at times just seems stagnant. Recycling old coaches with the same ideas they had on other teams certainly doesn't help.

  27. there was actually 16 seconds left in the half when the Bombers got the ball back... which is a significant difference... sorry to show up 2 months later with this comment... just took a break from this place after the GC and catching up on some threads now I do completely agree with your general sentiment though... except for me, it happened a few plays later when Zach threw that int... Bombers O hadn't been moving well and we needed a drive to get some momentum going into half... had the Bombers got the score to 13-6 or (dare I say) 17-6 at half... I think they would've got it done... that Int made me think "I've seen this show before" and they that just weren't going to get it done again

  28. With Bourgoin going to BC... it all but guarantees our new OC will be an external hire... which could be a good thing... I like Jarious Jackson or one of the guys from Toronto - Can't-stand-ya or Miller (I also just think it would be fun to have two coaches named Mike Miller)....

  29. Every team needs to have a few guys who put their body on the line to enable others to shine. But you should be using role players to enable guys like biggie. Not guys like biggie to help the Jake Thomas’. Yeah he was soo critical to our getting over the hump. Hope he goes into coaching. Such a smart great hard working guy.
