2024 Blue Bomber Training Camp

I can’t see Lawler and Schoen ever leaving now. The one year deal with Schoen was to try and sign them both together next year. Schoen gets a slight bump, Lawler takes a haircut and it all works out the same6 points -

Me and my girl friend went to go pick up our season tickets today, really fun event at the stadium, I bit the bullet and bought a chris streveler jersey. It was the first jersey I purchased since I got a Charles Robert’s one for Christmas when I was 10 years old lol! I was torn on who to get, but I figured no matter what Streveler’s cult hero status as a Bomber will never fade so it was a safe bet.4 points -
Good little synopsis on where we're at through two weeks... Thanks, as always, to Our Man Tait....3 points

Perhaps with receivers not getting 300k you can keep lawler Schoen and Demski longer. 250 prob max for a receiver like lawler and Schoen. That’s 500k. It’s not that much in the scheme of things. Perhaps we move on from Zach sooner than later. (It’s gonna happen eventually) and there’s more savings. Bryant. Jefferson. Bighill. Lots of cash freed up sooner than later. I’ll just say I understand they all need to be Replaced also but the guys replacing them prob don’t make what Zach and crew make now. So instead of QB making 600k , he gets 300 to 450 instead. Hello savings my old friend2 points -
Which is sadly a huge step up2 points

Somebody on the Riders forum suggested extending exhibition games to 5 or 6 Q's, I think this would be a reasonable way to give new players extra playing time without adding travel costs or much extra expense. Add another intermission after 60 minutes and play again for an extra 30 minutes. No single player needs to play more than 30 mins. so it should be manageable from a personnel perspective. As for the fans in attendance as long as they realize it's a casual affair they can come and go as they wish.2 points -
I not sure why we dont do a conrrolled blue and gold game as well...actually get extra looks in a game situ...stupid we dont2 points

I think you see both Lawler and Schoen come back at $250,000 each for next season because I think that receiver contracts are going to drop and the club is going to go all in a year we are hosting the cup.1 point -
True enough but it’s something for those that really want it right. I could watch it at my lake on the boat. They got a long way to go. TSN obviously is an issue. You have 4 fn channels. Does women’s hockey need to be on all of them.1 point

Both Lawler & Schoen's days as NFL players are over. We're not just a ground & pound team. We throw the ball. A lot. Sometimes maybe too much as Zach likes the deep ball. But to say we're a one dimensional ball team with just Oliveira grounding it out on the ground is wrong. This team reminds me of the Bombers of the mid to late 80's when we won 2 GC's & should have won more. We had Tom Clements at qb. We had Willard Reaves running for 1300-1800 yards a season. We also had Joe Pop, Rick House, Perry Tuttle, James Murphy & jeff Boyd catching the ball. No one called us a ground & pound team with Reaves ground game crushing opponents, The Bombers then, just like today, can kill a team on the ground or in the air. We're a nightmare for opposition DC's to prepare for.1 point -

It's hard to call what the CFL offers "streaming." It's more like "watch on potato quality video through a browser."1 point -

Don't underestimate the value of Grant's fearlessness. He made a snap decision about where to go and hit it at top speed in about 3 steps.1 point -
Last year we had the most trouble protecting Collaros, and under thrown deep balls are a classic sign of the pocket being pushed back onto the qb. When you throw deep against a straight pressure or are hit when throwing the ball tends to sail. That’s why we saw soo many pics going back to the early mafia days we had soo many dominant import pocket pushing nose tackles.1 point

The way the Argonauts organization treated the whole Kelly situation is derserving karma. I hope that team rots into the ground this year.1 point

Didn’t lawler put up like 1000 yards in half the games? Playing half the games as the next guy. That’s pretty good.1 point

I don’t know the medical science behind why this may or may not have some injury risk issues tied to it, but if it doesn’t, it seems like a really good idea1 point

Don't think it's an issue. There's been over 50 cuts and replacements across the league since they started camps. They are paying costs to bring guys here, send them home, bring in next guy. Bring them all in for a week ahead of main camp.1 point -

The CFL shud bring back the rookie off-season camps. I know the league stop them for cost reasons because I believe they were beneficial for the new guys to adapt to the CFL.1 point -

I think they should expand the rookie camp to 7-10 days and expand the roster size by 20 for that. Have a significant cut down when vets report and then have a cut down between the two exhibition games.1 point -

I loved dressler. As a rider I liked him as much as I could any rider player especially one who used to kill us. He was like buck pierce at wr but with a stronger surrounding cast. From a league stand point he should go in as a rider. If he chose us, I’d be thrilled he was a great player and great person.1 point

Offer Schoen 1.2M over 5 years, 200k signing bonus, 100k salary per season and 100k paid out as a roster bonus each season. Make some history with a long term deal, huge upfront cost, but cheaper over the long term.0 points
