Bombers "close to" deal with Dressler

as per Kirk Penton and Gary Lawless.

Very interesting.

  • But you said players want to go to a winner...not to Winnipeg. I guess Westerman was just a fluke too. And now you're changing the parameters. Naughty, naughty.  Sounds like you're rationalizing,

  • Bullshit. Winnipeg has plenty of bargaining chips. As we've heard over and over, the stadium itself is a huge draw. I believe the coaches, to a degree, are a draw. Then we heard from Westerman last ye

  • Lol at the Nicholls comment...  I'm pretty sure if he backed up any other team he would be one injury away from starting.    Hurl - Toronto Bryant - Multiple teams made offers to him. M

They were close with Burris too. I am hopeful, but cautious on this one...

didnt he tweet, calgary and winnipeg were talking to dressler, this isnt new news,  maybe a cover your own *** after saying the bombers were close prematurely?

With Rogers going to the 49ers I wouldn't be surprised to see the Stamps sign him.

I just texted my buddies this. Our last LDC trip was the 2012 abomination. The 2016 version may just be worth checking out again...

Bombers need to land him, fans are tired of 'close but no cigar'.

I don't think landing Dressler gets you what the fans want. Unless this guy's taking a pay cut, he's way too expensive for his age.

He's definitely taking a cut.

He is for sure taking a cut from his old contract.

Not to be negative, but I can't help but think Calgary gives him an offer he can't refuse.

That's my thought too...now that Rodgers is gone to the NFL, they're gonna likely toss some big money at Dressler.

I would be mighty surprised if Calgary puts a better offer forward.  I'm near positive this is a done deal.

Looks like the Stamps are letting Messam walk after free agency. He wants to stay but no firm offer.

Edge the stumps out Walters and give the Peg and Bomber fans a badly needed lift, we haven't seen in these parts for awhile...I think we're close ,and when it comes down to the nitty gritty, we'll come out on top...I'm pretty sure our offer is a good one and Walters won't this slip away...

missed word

Everyone knew Rogers was going to the NFL already, signing somewhere was just a matter of time.

And when is the last time the Stamps have signed a big free agent?

Dressler to Winnipeg isn't a given but I'd be shocked if he landed in Calgary.

Bombers are still up against the stigma of being cellar dwellers that are being a coach in the final year of his contract. Do players want money ? Sure but they want stability in an organization and a team that they deem are legitimate playoff contenders.

I heard on 1290, the only tabled offer is from the Bombers. Stamps have not given a firm offer.

IMO...overnight. Then if Calgary doesn't interfere - he's ours.

Not sure what you mean. Are you suggesting Dressler wouldn't come here because of O'Shea's contract status?

I am suggesting that Dressler may have concerns about the stability and direction of the franchise. This is a business and players do make business decisions.

Dressler also grew up in North Dakota.
