Bombers at Redblacks early chat

Good to see Zach back in pads but we know everyone wants Dru to start, even Ottawa fans probably want Dru to annihilate the Redblacks to stick it to Dumbwiddie.

Dolegala sure, but Maier is a legitimate backup calibre qb in this league. Elgersma needs more than a dozen five yard completions to prove himself.

Yes but the people who use that phrase completely misunderstand that it is more apt to apply to supporters than critics.

F'ing Arbuckle. Sorry PTSD.

100% , he's a guy who can come in and win a few games... I can't see him being the guy who can take you through the play offs. Even more so when you have a porous defence.

Fumbling Dru Brown for Jake Maier is an all time bone headed move. I’ve been un happy with us moving on from brown the moment it happened. The fact we get a second chance for a succession plan after Zach leaves gives me a lot of hope. The thought of potentially giving Terry Wilson the keys to the franchise was a scary thought.

Yep, if Zach is out for 2-3 games and Dru is lighting it up, why would you switch back?

Exactly. And if Brown is getting it done, why would you want a very expensive bench warmer?

Theres no way we dump Zach this year, even if Dru is lighting it up, we don't want to be one play away from being in the same position as Hamilton or Ottawa. I think Zach may be finished after this season, ride with Dru and Zach until the seasons end.

See Hamilton. That's why.

Jake Maier must be a great salesperson cuz he sold himself fantastically to Ottawa.

To my eyes, Elgersma with as little exposure as he has had, has looked better than either Maier or Dolegala.

Maier has not shown that he is capable of stepping up and winning or managing a game. Elgersma is a "maybe". Maier is a "nope".

Why would you not???

Not that I think he’s a terrible coach or anything but Dinwiddie sure is coming across like an idiot this year.

Right? Didn't handle his QB situation at all and traded his QB insurance policy away. Really dumb thing to do.

He did enuff to win but it was far from starting caliber play

That would be a gamble we dont need to take. The risk far outweighs the reward and thats not a winning gambling strategy

ZC has been playing good football this year. He should start if he's 100 healthy. We should not rush him tho with a quality back up like Brown.

Yeah but browns 1st start was better than all of zachs games. That’s reality. If you honestly believe collaros is a better qb than dru brown currently, I don’t know what to say. Collaros hasn’t hit a dude in stride in 4 years. Dru was hitting everyone in stride.

Because Zach is better than TE and BP. THATS WHY. You wanna be Hamilton or Montreal and put all your eggs in 1 brittle basket ?? Thank. God you aren’t running the team, seriously. Reality. Dru and Zach = chance to win. BP and TE= no chance at winning. They are cfl rookies. They wouldn’t let TE throw 10 yards and you want him as next man up if Dru gets hurt? Seriously the dumbest idea I’ve ever seen. Dru is 1 hit away from being carted off like blm. So is Zach. Let’s trade one. Honestly. So we can then be in the exact situation Hamilton is in. Brilliant.

yeah, backup McCheese is fine. He'd be an improvement on most teams in the CFL ... except for Winnipeg, Toronto, and maybe Montreal.

Hamilton would def be way better off with Maier as their BLM replacement instead of DoegegallaFrostord. Maier gives you a bit of a chance of competing, as opposed to the zero chance you have with Hamilton's squadron of QB3s.

We all know how the world works. It’s ok to dIsagree with ppl. You can even be friends and work with them daily. It’s ok if ppl are uh oh dreaded words here, worse than racism on here, doesn’t matter if you pro MAGA or anti MAGA, you can be friends and get along.

I don't know about that... it seems like the COVID lock down messed people up. TDS is a real thing and it's sad. I assume some people went and are still a bit cuckoo as they live online and are detached from normal social interactions.

That being said... no we don't trade Zach that's crazy talk. We keep him as veteran insurance / back up in case Brown goes down. I would think most folks on here still have nightmares of going into the Grey Cup with a starting QB who never played a real down.

It's helps to remember that people are posing a question to spark discussion. I wouldn't trade Collaros, but I have no problem with people pondering it on here.

I said it at the beginning of the season and I'll say it again ... Dinwiddie is really being exposed as a guy who was carried by the high level of talent in Toronto. When you hand him the keys, he's too stubborn and egotistical to realize he's making mistake after mistake after mistake. I don't agree with a lot of the things O'Shea does on a weekly basis but the one thing I'll always give him credit for is that he gives our franchise credibility in the biggest way.

Dinwiddie makes his franchise look like a joke. Aside from trading Dru Brown after publicly shitting on him (and then going 0-5 with the guy he said was better), hasn't he also threatened to cut a player publicly after talking about how he should be embarrassed to watch film in front of his teammates? Didn't he pull the same thing last year and then not follow up on it? The guy is an idiot and if the players haven't already tuned him out, they will soon.

In regards to QB's here...Who starting..who backing up and if they are a pricey backup....etc

All irrelevant...we are paying for 3 guys regardless of what order we run them out...so makes no difference if ZC is a high paid backup....or a over-payed average starter

End of the day we paying what we paying, and a lot of ZC money is already payed anyway...So if we nose dive seriously and are out of it by game 12..13....Then dealing him then is an easy thing as he would not kill a teams sms....That being said if it's a team who has already lost their starter for a significant amount of time then his salary has been off the books anyway

Personally...I see some bright days ahead this season...I hear some guys are gonna be back sooner than later...and will kinda revamp our defence which seems to be gelling a bit, especially as we toned down the substituting, and just a few minor tweeks and change in usage should bring us over the top...And the fact we have 2 very capable starters now at QB....to cover any injury or a guy just sucking....we are setting up pretty good....

My only concern is Osh just effing it all up...as he has done past 3 yrs...and that real dumb use of a DA last game...and this insistence to run 2 useless 3rd Canadian WR's just leads me to believe he hasn't learned...wont change....doesn't know how to make the right changes...and will probably be the main culprit of any failure this yr again

Hope I am wrong on that and we do another win in spite of him thing

Maier was won multiple football games in the CFL (not this year). He's absolutely shown he is capable. His biggest problem is consistency and turnovers. Which is why he'd be a fine backup. He's no franchise QB though.

I recall him owning us as a starter when in CGY in a game....or 2

He needs to be with a good supporting cast, players and coaching, and not have to drag a team to finish line on his back...he just not that guy

Perfect backup tho...especially in an in game injury situation

Yeah his first year as a starter. Dinwiddie was his OC or QB coach or something too. Maier looked good to start and then faded once Teams got some tape.

I saw this and assuming that it is correct... yikes!
